  1. The arms, they're so long. Dragging knuckles on the ground.
  2. Damn this is topical. Our 7mo ridgeback starting doing the same shit about two weeks ago. She's only ever taken a crap on one specific tier in our front yard, as the backyard is all torn up (pool install), and the fence isn't secure. So literally from the time she was a puppy and didn't know how to climb stairs (so we had to carry her into the yard), until now, never anywhere else save walks. Now? She won't even venture in that area unless you drag/push/bribe her. And I hate doing that, because there's clearly SOME reason why she doesn't want to go. Vet said to re-train her with lots of high-value treats. She apparently uses the bathroom fine on another one of the yard tiers, so we'll be switching to that for the time being, but what a beating.
  3. The one from Jordan Hicks, I guarantee you it ROASTED that catchers thumb. I caught a couple of D1 prospects in high school, and day after games my left thumb was just a black and blue, half-numb mess, because of that late downward movement. The ball enters the glove low on the pocket, and there's nothing you can do about it. And they weren't doing it at a hundo, either.
  4. Drool. lord those are gorgeous.
  5. I'm not on the "Fire Pierce" train yet, but this is 100% coaching. Or some combination of coaching and recruit identification. If it's coaching, Pierce failed this kid. If it's recruit identification, Pierce's recruits this year better not struggle in this area.
  6. Man. After his freshman campaign, I thought Nico was going to be one of those invaluable four-year starters, eating up incredible innings, Tuesday guy, tournament 4th starter, and by his Sr year maybe hitting a growth spurt and turning into a monster. Bummed about this one, tbh.
  7. Only thing I don't like here is the right arm flying backwards as he releases the ball. It should be working back in front of him. Here's a good example.
  8. Scottie Scheffler wins on the Web, in a playoff. Bigtime!
  9. Right now I'm thinking you're right. Not ready to cut the cord yet inside, but outside I think streaming to a WiFi enabled TV for the content I want directly is the answer. I can't get the full Google TV feed, but I can stream the golf channel app, ESPN app, etc. Gonna grab an iPad Mini and a lifeProof case. Connect the mini to the TV and to a pair of outdoor rated Bluetooth speakers, job done. I'm not gonna watch Game of Thrones outside, but I will watch football games - this will work for that, and keeps things dead simple. My parents might still struggle with it, but we'll cross that bridge when we get there.
  10. Nice little week you're working on ...
  11. Last I checked YouTube didn't have ESPN or LHN ... that's a deal breaker. I also am trying to keep things simple enough for my parents to turn on the TV and sound outside, but that might be a pipe dream at this point ...
  12. Hope this is the right spot for folks to weigh in here. Definitely need some pretty technical advice. We're putting in a pool. I've got a great spot for a TV - our deck is elevated, and the pool deck will be beneath it (basically a covered patio when you're down by the pool). The TV is going to go up on the side of the house, under the deck - largely weather-shielded, with great sight-lines from the pool and other social spaces. I've got power handled. Two key questions ... How do I get signal to the TV? (details below) How do I get sound in the backyard from whatever's on the TV? General details / notes on the setup around my place ... in no particular order. Google fiber + TV House is wired with Cat6. I have two drops that terminate on an outside wall, although it would be able 50' of conduit to run it over to where I want to put the TV. I don't mind running the conduit. An ideal setup would be some sort of stream, but google fiber app doesn't like to stream to players/sticks/casters (they want you to use their TV Boxes) I still can't figure out sound ... stereo-pairable outdoor bluetooth speakers seem ideal, but how does the source work? So ... any good ideas? The obvious answer is to get another Google Fiber TV box and put it outside. I can build a plexglass box for it to keep it out of the weather, but even just the hot/cold cycles will wreck that thing. But that might be the best way - curious for other ideas, tho.
  13. The challenge with any streaming device is that Google Fiber app doesn't play well with most of them, and as we're a Google TV customer ... womp womp. I'll post over on that thread, too - thanks for the heads up.
  14. Lord how far the mightly have fallen when "slightly better than Phil with the driver" is a measure of progress.
  15. As I will be for the next few years, I'm all-in emotionally on Mickelson. Love him or hate him, seeing him complete the Grand Slam would be good for golf, and AMAZING television. Realistically, I expect one of the big boys to win this one. Brooks, DJ, Rory. Pebble always has teeth in an Open setup, but there's nothing they can do to make it any longer, so bomb-and-gouge still works. If you want to bet outside the favorites, Finau has put up some really solid performances lately, and Fleetwood seems to be where Molinari was two years ago - ready and waiting to explode. If Spieth can find a fairway, he'll be right in it. Tiger could hit stinger 2i off every tee every day and probably shoot -6 for the week regardless of conditions. If the weather is shit, that might be good enough. Force me to make a pick, and I take DJ. But I don't like how that feels, so let's go with Xander.
  16. Can you imagine if he'd struck the ball even average?

  18. Golf runs in roughly 18-month hot streaks. Rory. Spieth. DJ. Justin Thomas was the hotter than the sun at the start of the last PGA tour season, and now he can't stay healthy. I've had a ton of respect for Brooks - he's on a heater to beat most heaters, up there with Tiger or Jack's best stretches in the majors. But he'll cycle back to earth, like they all do. If he doesn't, well then he's the next Tiger, and that will be fun to watch too. The media need something to write about, so 18 is gonna come up. As fans, we don't have to crown him now for going 4-for-8, and we also don't have to run him down for not winning more on the PGA tour. He's fucking fun as hell to watch, and he puts a little bit of personality into golf by being a stubborn titty baby, which is fun to watch too. I'm enjoying the ride. Side note - I really hope that this week jumpstarts Golden Boy.
  19. Hey RPM, where do you buy your juice from?
  20. #truth. Just look at my last scorecard out there. I had no idea where I was.
  21. +1 to chitwood and Dad. Yellow tees are a stern test, hybrid brings a LITTLE bit of fun back in :). #7 will eat your soul (or at least, it's eaten mine.)
  22. And holy fuck do buckets of golf balls get heavy quick ...
  23. Had a family friend who took up walking as a way to get in shape. There's a trail around one of the nicer public courses in NOrth Austin (and some ways to get onto the course itself in the evening). He started picking up the balls he found, and at the end of the year donated 5,000 golf balls (after giving us all the really good ones) to the First Tee. So, you know, beware what you start.
  24. Found my first ever legit diamond in the rough. Walked into a rando liquor store in San Francisco two blocks from Moscone to find a bottle of EC12 in the locked cabinet. Old label, big 12 right on the front. Guy said "$79.99" and I said "get the keys, please." When he opened the cabinet, motherfucker had TWO bottles. Bought 'em both. Looking back, he also had two bottles of ECBP. Probably should have bought those, too, but still ... Also hearing rumors of more EHTaylor Single Barrel this fall, in decent enough quantities that some might actually hit shelves. I"m hopeful, but not naive. We'll see.
