  1. I’m 99% sure Gerry’s quoted recommendation was from Nathan O’Neal, GH’s #1 source for defensive linemen scoop. O’Neal is a trainer who works with a lot of guys. Gerry usually mentions him by name in tweets/podcasts to provide a little quid pro quo, so the absence of that is why I didn’t go 100%.

    But it’s Nathan O’Neal.

Wait, I don't pay much attention at all to these rubes.

Are Burton and Hamilton splitting completely from InsideTexas and taking their own brand over?

Split happened in early December, with Hamilton serving as On3 analyst with Texas/southern responsibilities. He will still post occasionally at IT, but not much. Burton has divorced fully from IT, devoting his efforts to his YouTube channel. And about a week ago, he launched an associated website with immamac to complement the YT channel content. Meanwhile, IT has ramped up its YouTube content.

Beth is at the end of her rope with him. Only reason she is still around is because he most likely has an iron clad prenup. Just easier for her to let him hump her twice a week and keep spending his money on cats.

Been trying to catch up and just now at the turn of the year. Yes, Beth was as pissed at him in the first show of 2024 as she’s ever revealed. She hated his characterization of her Covid symptoms, and REALLY didn’t appreciate his throwing of the gloves across the room. That was a fucked up move on his part, she seemed legit scared by the action and he didn’t have a good excuse for his behavior. I wonder if those prenups can be ripped up in cases of emotional abuse. She now has a documented instance. You know 100% she would get out if she could get a decent payout.

    He’s such a victim.

  4. The content of the article doesn’t have DeMeco shine a positive light on the DL coaching, so I’m not sure how Rod Wright escapes that scrutiny. But maybe Ryans thinks he’s the answer, and the “resources” they’ll invest will be players and not necessarily new coaches.

    ****

At least one assistant coach on the Texans’ staff won’t be returning for the 2024 season.

The Texans will let defensive line coach Jacques Cesaire’s contract expire, a person with knowledge of the decision said Tuesday. He won’t return for his third season and will explore other options, a source added.

Cesaire was one of the holdovers from Lovie Smith’s staff. He joined the Texans in 2022 after spending two seasons as the assistant defensive line coach in Buffalo. His contract was up after this season.

The Texans set a franchise record for sacks (46) in 2023. They were also sixth-best in the NFL against the run. But they struggled two of the past three weeks.

In Saturday’s divisional playoff loss to Baltimore, the Ravens ran for 229 yards and two touchdowns against them. It was the second time in three weeks that the Texans allowed 200 yards rushing.

Head coach DeMeco Ryans said one of his priorities this offseason is to improve the defensive line.

“The front, again, is everything for me, and we’ll invest a ton of resources into the front,” Ryans said Monday. “If you want to play good defense, your front has to be elite, and that’s what I envision us playing: elite defensive football.

“And we have to get better there — and to get better there — you have to invest the resources there up front, so that’s what we’ll do. That’s where our focus is heading into the offseason is to make sure our front gives us an opportunity to win some games.”

  5. Bobby reporting at the new site Muhammad is leaning Oregon

    Spoiler

Sources tell On Texas Football that Jabbar Muhammad is likely favoring Oregon at this moment. Muhammad, a Washington transfer and second-team All-Pac 12 selection in 2023, visited Texas last week. He then visited Alabama over the weekend.

But Oregon is expected to host him this week and the Ducks have gone from a major player in this recruitment to his potential leader.

Muhammad is expected to make a decision by no later than Jan. 30.

The Longhorns have already inked eight players in the NCAA transfer portal, the latest coming earlier today from Tiaoalii Savea, a 6-foot-4, 305-pound defensive tackle from Arizona.

  6. This is literally what Nahlin wrote:

Arizona defensive tackle Tiaoalii Savea visited over the weekend but left uncommitted he tells IT. As for other potential visits, he says he's still figuring that out. The senior originally started his career at UCLA while Johnny Nansen was there. When Nansen moved on to Arizona, Savea followed. We'll see if he follows him again.

We know Texas needs another defensive tackle but Savea not committing on his visit is somewhat interesting. The staff could be monitoring other situations to see if any more options shake loose.
