  1. He’s a nationally accepted expert on the ability to quickly put on weight.
  2. Found Surly's hooker and blow connection.
  3. This is the game, always had been. Surly will tell anyone who thinks outside the message board vacuum they are an idiot. This game is always the same, but different. Love him or hate him, he warned everyone it was coming, told everyone to hold tight, and then quite literally told us when to buy. This pattern likely isn't over so I'd recommend against anyone getting aggressive either direction. Side note: Living overseas at the moment is interesting. For the first time, I feel a strong sense of shame to be an American.
  4. You don’t think that would impact how many cart pushers Walmart has? You better think about your own job security.
  5. Just be careful with your puts, Black Swan events can happen at the bottom, too. Sometimes the truly powerful people eliminate problems that go against them.
  6. On one hand, I agree. There will be a better place to invest at some point. The problem is, the fear following something catastrophic prevents a vast majority people from getting back in, until it’s too late and they’re buying the tops again. Those people are better off staying in and waiting for the recovery.
  7. I’ll definitely listen to this guy over some blowhard on a football board who can’t detach from his emotions long enough to potentially learn something. I can admit my areas of weakness, truly desire to keep learning, and listen to anyone, regardless of their political affiliation or lack of. I still will not put 100% faith in anything.
  8. Dude, I have absolutely no sound opinion on what the “plan” is and don’t trust everything I read, just sharing information so we get different viewpoints for market decisions, which is what the thread is for. I did my best to stay awake in economics class and don’t claim anything above that level of education in the matter.
  9. We’d probably be shocked to know how much trading is being done via automation. Short-term trading is one of the most emotional careers a person can choose. The best traders are able to control their emotions and stick to their strategies. Now imagine today’s technology, with the ability to have the same training and rules, but with the capacity to simultaneously pull massive amounts of data, and void of emotion. Then imagine that machine in the hands of those with the greatest ability to control the market. I don’t think these machines are trading based on fundamentals, but are doing it based on instant market data, going long and short, while taking advantage of human emotions. In other words, don’t trust short-term moves either direction and broaden your view of what short-term means.
  10. This pizza keeps getting cut into smaller and smaller pieces and we still only get the same number of pieces.
  11. I’d post Trump’s latest tweet but I know where it would go from there. Take a look, ignore the rhetoric for this purpose, and I think it provides a picture.
  12. Yes, but Colombia is offering a package deal. As long as you purchase both from them, they will cover the cost of the tariffs.
  13. I can't remember the book, but there was a story about a new trader on the floor of this commodity firm. One of the suits stopped to talk with him one day and asked him about his trading. The young man explained his trading plan, "Market will drop to this line and I will buy because it will go up from here" type of plan. When the market dropped to that line, as predicted, the decline stopped and he made his buy. The young man was proud of himself. While still with the young man, the suit immediately got on the phone and ordered a relatively large sale of the commodity, since he had the authority to do so. As soon as the large sell transaction went through, the market quickly started heading back to the downside. Lesson learned.
  14. The house always wins. Where and when they want it to go, it will go.
  15. I was in a trading group a few years ago that included a small fund manager. A group of traders got massively underwater on a penny stock so they banded together to generate a fake article regarding the company being bought out. They played it off to the trading group as if it were real, merely sharing the tweet from some "news site". Funny thing, there was an error in the article. Let's just say the decimal was in the wrong place and not in their favor... Someone called it out in the group and many of us laughed about how shitty the company was to release the article in an attempt to pump the stock, with such an egregious error that created the exact opposite effect. A member of our group got very offended and unintentionally tipped their hand that they were the author... I left the group, they were reported to the SEC, but nothing happened. Lots of shady shit goes on in the trading world, price targets, buy recommendations, sell recommendations, articles to create hype and fear. Only those who truly fuck the whales get in trouble. Trust nothing.
  16. But they will eventually be a beautiful thing to behold, right?
  17. I like the aggressiveness. Have any kids to sell? * No I’m not buying.
  18. More news of over-leveraged accounts (retail & cocky hedge funds) blowing up.
  19. This is where I’m at. This stuff fascinates me and I’m in a conservative position. Imagine the wealth that could be generated by those in-the-know. It would be similar to a group waging biological warfare on the world and buying up property and businesses throughout the globe during the crisis.
