FEMA not answering calls from Kerr
Two days after catastrophic floods roared through Central Texas, the Federal Emergency Management Agency did not answer nearly two-thirds of calls to its disaster assistance line, according to documents reviewed by The New York Times.
The lack of responsiveness happened because the agency had fired hundreds of contractors at call centers, according to a person briefed on the matter who spoke on the condition of anonymity in order to discuss internal matters.
The agency laid off the contractors on July 5 after their contracts expired and were not extended, according to the documents and the person briefed on the matter. Kristi Noem, the homeland security secretary, who has instituted a new requirement that she personally approve expenses over $100,000, did not renew the contracts until Thursday, five days after the contracts expired.
75% Kerr County voted for DOtarD
Well, I fucking didn’t.-

Pretty late to the game, but this comment fucking slayed me.

I think that is more likely than not. I also think the assets could have been a couple of trucks and boats. Everything is so murky right now. The more I hear, the more I lean towards the person that fucked this up the most (for the campers) is already dead.
You’re right, he’s dead. A good man that I’ve known most of my life, who loved people of all walks of life. He died trying to save campers, and this post will probably get negged because it’s emotionally charged, but fuck you.-

I’m in as well. This town is still in the shock phase of things. Kerrville itself is business as usual, until you approach the river, which is all the time. I feel like the shock is going to wear off soon, and I’m afraid of how (and for how long) that’s going to last. Supplies are abundant; clothing, dry goods, water, etc are all here, and still coming in. Those things are also being donated locally to the point where one entity will tell you to take your load to another because they’re saturated.
Let me know what I can do, and I’ll do it.-

My friend’s ex wife, mother, and his two daughters were staying at the River Inn. They were in the second story building for almost 11 hours before they were rescued. That story above makes me even sicker than I already am.-

Had lunch with this dud and his team. Solid. We talked Gold Cup.
Homesickhorn is supposed to get me a shirt. I was going to trade Texas Baseball but I got called out to make a run
Nice man.
The Cuidad Acuna fast water dudes were metal. They got here at around 2pm on the fourth. I wasn’t able to get a shirt, but those dudes showed the fuck up.-

That was posted by the city, not the county.
But, yes.-

I’ve been relatively absent from the thread today, for my own reasons. I can say that we were pulled back from where we were today (Centerpoint), because of the operational change. They’re bringing dogs in tomorrow, and they don’t want our scent to cause any confusion.
This has been a firsthand shit show. But reading the shit talking on this thread makes me want to put my fucking fist through a wall.-

Brisket, I typically agree with you. And I get your point. But I’d bet balls to a barn dance that there were a fuckton of undocumented folks out there distributing food. My point was that for a brief moment/couple of days, it didn’t matter. There was a common goal, to help, and everything else went out the window.
At least that’s how I perceived it. Maybe I was just too fucking tired.-

I’ve met this kid out at the skatepark. He’d go after work, bringing Gatorades for everyone, and teaching kids like my son how to skate. Salt of the fucking earth.-

“Aw jeez, sure I lied and said a buddy rescued two girls today but that was just a little oopsie. It’s really unfair and mean to hold that against me!”
I’m pretty sure it’s me you’re talking about. Not verbatim, but close. I got word from someone close to the responders. Only to find out that it wasn’t true later. I apologized.-

One thing I meant to mention was the amount of support I observed driving my trailer from Comfort to Ingram. You cannot go a quarter mile without a smoker billowing, Webbers, pop tents, coolers full of tamales, etc.
All just good people, strangers and residents alike, just trying to help. Each and everyone one of these places had someone waving a sign that said, “FREE FOOD AND WATER”.
No questions, no nothing. Just please allow us to help in our own way.
I almost had to pull over. It’s fucking dusty right now just typing this out.-

Taken from my backyard in Kerrville just now. Eerily quiet, but it’s the first time I’ve seen the sun since Wednesday.

We found plenty. But I’m not taking pics of dead pets or livestock. I’m not going to take pictures of dead anything.

The two girls found in a tree phone call I received was from a friend who I’d been working with since about 7am. When he and I split up, he stayed there and waited for his brother (first responder). I relayed what he told me, via his brother. I asked him for confirmation, and he told me to hang tight. That’s when I posted.
The link in the post that I copied went hand in hand with what I’d heard, but I’d not yet confirmed. I made the mistake of thinking that link was the confirmation needed.
Now, it’s untrue. I don’t know how a game of telephone can get that fucked up with as close as I was from the source, but it did. And I can’t apologize enough.
I’ll continue to post what I see first hand from here on out. Take it for what it’s worth. I guess I got too overwhelmed with some good news for the first time in three days.-

Nobody is censoring anyone.
This thread is going back to rain/Texas weather
There's a thread here in DT for news
There's a thread in CR to point fingers at the causes of this.
Got it. -
I just got home. The search teams down from my house were still active, but it’s starting to rain again. A couple Chinooks are thumping up river towards Hunt.

This guy seems to have a legit Kerr news blog.
These are the ones I was referring to. They were found on Lane Valley Rd. If they’re Mystic girls, that’s approximately 20 miles.
I was just turned around at Ingram Dam, driving my trailer out to Hunt. Probably already been posted, but they’re getting everyone out again due to another wall of water warning.-

I posted what I heard. I promise to post any news as soon as I get it. I’m heading to Comfort to pick up a trailer, so I’ll probably be out of pocket for a little while.

According to one of the guys I was with in Centerpoint this morning, they found two girls alive about 3/4 mile from where we were searching. That’s all I know and all I heard. I’m desperately trying to confirm.
