Bru McCoy is one of the nation’s elite prospects, rated No. 17 in the 247Sports Composite and No. 4 by 247Sports.

McCoy is a dominant player on both sides of the ball and is a high level prospect at receiver and linebacker. He has a rare combination of size, toughness and athleticism and always competes at a high level as well.

McCoy took a visit to Texas over the weekend and the Horns made a big impression on him.

“The trip was great, it definitely met and even exceeded my expectations,” McCoy said. “The coaches were great with me and seemed very genuine. They kept it real and were upfront and honest with me. With some coaches, you can kind of tell they're just recruiting you, but the Texas staff seemed very genuine.

“Coach Herman is definitely a player’s coach and has a lot of energy. He’s the type of guy I would like to play for. All the coaches did a good job of talking about the future of the program, where things are at and where they want to take it. I was very impressed with everything I saw.”

McCoy said the staff really went all out and even showed his highlight tape on the jumbotron inside the football stadium.

“That was pretty crazy,” McCoy said. “They made everything pretty special for me and were very specific in how they want to use me. I met with coach Meekins (WR coach) and he talked about their philosophy and how they utilize their receivers. They want me as an X in their offense and feel I would fit in really well.

“Then I met with the defensive coaches and coach Orlando (DC) said they want me to be a designated pass rusher on 3rd down or obvious passing situations. They run a 3-4 scheme that is similar to what we do at Mater Dei where I rush off the edge more so then drop in to coverage.

“A lot of schools have told me they want me to play both ways and like me as an athlete but no one has laid it out like that for me the way they did. So I would be a full time receiver on offense and a pass rush specialist on defense and I think that fits my skill set pretty well.”

The city of Austin and the campus in general all made a positive impression as well.

“Austin is a beautiful city, I wasn’t expecting all that,” McCoy said. “It’s a pretty special place and you can tell coach Herman has things going in the right direction.

“They showed me who’s staying and who’s leaving and there’s a lot of opportunity there. The coaches didn’t promise anything but said if you have to come in and put in the work, you'll play. Basically, you get out what you put in and that works for me.”

McCoy said he’ll definitely be back for an official visit as well.

“The two schools I know I’ll officially visit are Texas and USC,” McCoy said. “I’m going to be taking an unofficial visit to Oklahoma as well and if things go as expected, I’ll be taking an official there too.

“I was supposed to visit OU over Spring Break but I had hernia surgery and had to move it. I was going to visit OU and Texas back to back at that time but had to move those around. I don’t have any official dates yet but I know want to visit Texas when they host USC, the atmosphere should be insane for that one.

“The USC visit will likely be at the end of the season, that’s usually when they like to have their big visit weekends. As for the OU trip, I want to talk with Bookie (Brendan Radley-Hiles) and see what he thinks is best. He’s a smart guy and will know when a good weekend will be.”

McCoy said he’s still planning to make his decision at the All-American Game in San Antonio in January.

“I want to try and take all five of my trips if I can,” McCoy said. “The other schools I’m talking with right now are Florida State, Washington, Oregon and UCLA. I like coach Taggart (FSU head coach) a lot, he was recruiting me hard at Oregon so we have a good relationship.

“I really like the Washington staff a lot and how they recruit. Coach Petersen personally hits me up a lot and I'm comfortable with the staff. Oregon has been on me hard for awhile as well and I have some teammates going there with Keyon (Ware Hudson) and Mase (Funa). I just recently started talking more with UCLA and I think Chip Kelly is a very good coach and will have them going in the right direction

Except (and I am sure you don’t know this) the comics were explicitly told that no jokes about the orange baboon’s wealth were allowed. The snowflake made it a precondition of his appearance. I don’t recall if anyone did it anyway, but the stories behind that roast show what a child he is.

As for the cyclone, he’s from fucking Iowa - what does he know about anything?

Lots of BETO signs at houses in King William during the Fiesta King William fair. I believe he is making an appearance at one of the homes in about 30 mins.

Lots of Hillary signs there too in the past.  Means nothing.

  4. I go

Rosen- best mechanics, accurate, good arm, intelligent

    Mayfield- accurate, good arm, mobile

Lamar- baller. Better passer than given credit for with less experience so more room to grow.  Cosell watches more film than about anybody.  Says Louisville has lot of pro concepts that he executed well

Darnold - looks most like #1 QB.  Some bad decision making though.

Allen- shouldn't even go in 1st imo.  Inaccuracy will absolutely kill you

But being a little bitch who can't control his emotions still is.

Like what?  The grabbing your crotch on the sidelines?  That shit means nothing. Y’all are blinded by the OU hate.

If he has the smarts to run NFL offense, he’ll be good starter.

  6. I think Mayfield is gonna be a strong pro, unfortunately.  Accuracy is #1 trait for NFL qbs but overlooked. He has that plus a good arm.  Add his ultra competitiveness and intangibles that people seem to like.  Height is not as big a concern as it used to be.

collin johnson, he's our top target.  oh shit, he gets double teamed on most plays.  maybe i should design some fucking plays to create some space for him so he doesn't get blanketed every time.  or use that double team to draw routes for someone else to run into the space vacated by the double team.

Ok I'm the first to admit I don't have time to watch in depth film as much as others here, but is he really double teamed most plays? Maybe at 6'5" 220, he's just not the most explosive mover, has trouble getting separation and the QBs aren't confident enough to throw balls up to him for contested catches repeatedly.  Especially when they know their job isn't 100% secure and they can be yanked at any time.

"Why did you throw that to Collin?  He was covered!"

This isn't the NFL where that's a valid play. It actually requires more skill and accuracy to throw those 50/50 balls than we're thinking.

In fact the CJ "lack of consistency" could just be that the better corners on our team, or others, can cover him up.  Just a thought.

  8. Sucks about Leal.  Seems like every year there's a player we presumably lead for that has a one visit turnaround and commit to another place.  It happens. The writing is on the wall for Garrett Wilson as well. As soon as that drops we can move on to the positive for the rest of the cycle.

  9. I've seen the tax day thesis explaining some of the price drop. Could've played a part.

Crypto proxy stocks have been strong and actually led the most recent gains by cryptos. I'm using the down time to try to learn more and add a little bit of $ to crypto each month. I do think security tokens could be the next big move. Tzero that I mentioned above is involved as well as a crypto $Poly that I just bought. Small amount, but could have asymmetric upside if security token offerings become commonplace.

Here's a good quick read explaining use and possibilities for security tokens.

The biggest takeaway from the crypto craze is going to be blockchain.  Immutable transaction ledgers have huge implications for securely transmitting information.

I have one of my teams PoC'ing it as we speak.

Tzero looks like it could be an interesting implementation of this. Majority owned by overstock. Currently being looked into by SEC.  not surprising imo since this is such a revolutionary idea/concept.
