  1. I've never heard a scenario described like that Mole, thanks for sharing.  This subject is puzzling to me because I've never known anyone to commit suicide. I've had periods for a month or two after personal or professional disappointment of feeling very down, but nothing close to depression I think.

From what I can tell people that kill themselves have no hope.  Now that I have children I think that they would provide most people hope or something to live for and do better for.  I do think that people that kill themselves and have children, especially small ones, are selfish.  Sorry that's just my opinion.

I saw this and thought it was interesting.  No, I'm not uber religious.  I was raised Catholic, but now pretty much only go to church when I visit home.  This piece does speak to me in a way though.  We as a society are missing something.

A flailing president who will always be more successful and more popular than the current occupant of the White House.

    Awwww.

Maybe so. Whether you think it or not, the jury is still out on Trump.

  3. I acknowledge the author’s slant, but the column is full of links laying everything out.   Given the full roster of apologists on this site, I’ll take the silence as an admission of deceptive behavior at least, illegal behavior at worst, all in the pursuit of a foreign policy “win” for a flailing President.

And before anyone says it, I’ll be happy to condemn Trump if word comes out that he gave billions under the table or more to North Korea, while his officials lie repeatedly about it.

  4. I hope they don’t give McCabe immunity. One of these higher ups needs to do some time.

Btw did any of you Surly posters contribute to the Honorable Mr McCabe’s legal fund when he was “wrongfully” fired?  #Hero

  5. US President attempts to further enrich hostile nation and its banks, while lying about it.

“In other words, the Obama administration: (1) told Congress it would not allow Iran access to U.S. financial institutions; (2) issued a special license allowing Iran to do exactly that; (3) unsuccessfully pressured U.S. banks to help Iran; (4) lied to Congress and the American people about what it had done; (5) admitted in internal emails that these efforts “exceeded” U.S. obligations under the nuclear deal; (6) sent officials, including bank regulators, around the world to urge foreign financial institutions to do business with Iran; and (7) promised that they would get nothing more than a slap on the wrist for violating U.S. sanctions.”

I guess the pallets of cash weren’t enough...

Devine, huh?  Heard they have  pretty serious meth problem nowadays.

That 2010 thread is so sad.  My oldest was born later that year.  It just reminded me that he has never seen a better than middling Texas team.  Wtf.

Yes.  These people really think that.

They have no concept that when Trump declares all relationships a zero-sum game, the other side gets busy trying to win, meaning we lose (not that the Chinese weren't already doing that).  According to Trump -- not me, but Trump himself -- we have no allies, only adversaries.  The rest of the world has heard him, and is behaving accordingly.

I realize China is our main geopolitical adversary. Does that mean we can’t have interests aligned on any one issue?  This isn’t the Cold War.

We want denuclearization. They do too. Presumably for different reasons.  So what?

  8. 38 minutes ago, SmokeyTheBear said:

This is about optics. Trump has already said that the end game is full denuclearization and NK has stated that will never happen. So what is the point of the meeting for us? What do we get out of it?

Instead, NK gets a face-to-face with the President. Those optics tell others like Iran, Syria, (name your favorite Autocratic state here) that if you want relevance, continue working towards nukes or other weapons of mass destruction.  Whereas before, it was, you build weapons of mass destruction, we do everything we can to marginalize you on the global stage.

So yeah, Trump could cancel at any point, but Kim Jun Un already got Trump from describing the NK leader as "little rocket-man" to a "very honorable" man in a matter of a couple months. Kim already won because now he can sell propaganda to his country of the work he is doing where as if we shut him down and kept the status quo, Kim may have been in a worse position domestically.

Who has their boot on who's neck again?

And I'm not freaking out about this. Other efforts by this admin freak me out waaaaaay more, like working to destroy our alliance network.

Every country has known for decades that if you want legitimacy and security on global stage you want nukes.  Nothing about this summit or our interactions with NK has changed that.

Our boot (with Chinese support) is on North Korea's neck.

This is all shaping up nicely for our enemies. The President of the United States, the position that has always been the Leader of the Free World, is going to go toe to toe with the Hermit King. And the Hermit King is going to make the President look like a fool.....in front of the whole world. This meeting has been set up exactly for this reason. Trump is handing NK want they want and we will get nothing in return other than egg on our face. #MAGA

Again, where is the great victory for NK in taking part in a summit with us and then publicly spurning us and our volatile leader?

Y’all all say we’re giving them legitimacy.  Nuclear weapons already gave them legitimacy.  What the hell are y’all talking about?

Our boot is currently on their neck.  I don’t anticipate them acting out greatly.  This summit is all about confirming face to face that NK has the right attitude and that the first steps, that have likely been agreed on, are on track to be initiated.

Btw spoiler alert:  at any point Trump could call off summit or break talks with NK if he doesn’t like the tone or how it’s going. At which point we’ll wait them out longer.  Don’t freak out.

Post after post after post after post admiring this idiot (It's illegal to go to Wikileaks website.  I'm a journalist I can do it but you can't) make me think this board is either  a troll hive or a mental asylum.  Even as much as I hate CNN it's extremely rare for me to use the phrase "at best he is at least as bad as Don Lemon and quite possibly worse" when describing someone in the media.  That single timeslot now has Maddow, Cuomo, and Hannity in it.  For the life of me I don't know why HNN doesn't just show reruns of The Gong Show and kill all the other cable news ratings for that hour.

Yeah how about when the Congressman mentioned Wikileaks and CNN "lost the feed". Then Cuomo feigned disappointment. Hilarious.

Russia has funneled money to the Dotard and his lackeys, Fox News and their lackeys, and the NRA in order to destroy our democracy to advance their interest. Putin is still pissed about the USSR.  Whether the Americans involved are complicit or not or just fucking greedy for money is besides the point and doesn’t really matter. That is exactly what is happening and the Mueller investigation and this year will turn out to be the most important thing that happened to America since the north won the civil war.

You are so high.  I love it. I know people who work pretty high up with NRA.  Had no idea I knew people in Russia’s pocket.  That’s wild.

The most important thing to happen to America since Civil War?  Prepare to be disappointed, sir.

    Nope.  See above.

Wait.  LOL.  Are you saying if Trump was a Democrat, the Republican congress wouldn't impeach?  I'm being dead serious when I say that's the dumbest fucking thing I've ever read in the CR.  Think about that.  Yeah.

Holy shit.  Are you ACTUALLY this stupid?

Wait I guess I misread it.  I thought he meant Dems would’ve impeached their own party’s President, not Republicans impeaching D Pres.

Bill Clinton was 100% correct the other day in saying that if Trump were a Democrat, impeachment proceedings would have long been underway.

We’ll never know, but I’m gonna have to disagree on this one.  These are all politicians who crave power above all else. They don’t just give that away.  They’d flip flop on this just as fast as they do deficit spending, executive powers, or anything else.

Here's about 80 seconds of highlights of Roschon at the Elite 11 Finals (don't know how to embed this one).

It's not a big deal, but it's clear hIs arm is pretty average.  You can tell he has to put a lot into some of those throws. I'm sure it's pretty striking in a camp setting next to some of the naturals.  As long as it's good enough, he'll be fine.   I think it is.

I get the feeling you don’t give a shit either way what happens to Trump or America.

    The investigation has already delivered.

I guess I’m confused.  I don’t see how any of that has to do with Trump winning the election or him needing to be removed from office.  Collusion, as it were.

My point was that all the hand wringing over if Trump could pardon himself or if this is the end of our Republic is extremely premature and very likely nonsense.  I offered to wager to make it interesting, no takers yet.  That’s ok.

  17. I mean if the crimes are so overwhelming, why won't he get the boot?  Y'all are on here all day talking about treason and RUSSIA ATTACKING THE US.  You and the pundits that are reporting and providing you info are overpromising and the investigation is gonna underdeliver.
