  1. It is winter in the southern hemisphere. The further from the equator you get, the colder it is. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  2. Which was atypical for the Dutch because one of their best weapons is Spitse crossing to Miedema in the box. It's how they scored one of the goals vs Italy. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  3. An all time choke job from the USWNT in 2011. That's what it would take for the US to lose to the Dutch. Miedema is a beast, Martens is good if she's healthy, otherwise there isn't a player on that team that would start on the USWNT Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  4. If the US comes out aggressive they're going to demolish the Dutch. These two teams should be in the semifinals. It's going to take a massive fuck up for the US to lose Sunday. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  5. As long as Sweden doesn't play like cowards in the quarterfinals, yes. Here's a list of tournaments in which Germany eliminated Sweden. Today was so huge for Sweden: Olympics: 2016, 2008, 2004 World Cup: 2015, 2003 Euro: 2013, 2001, 1997, 1995
  6. Good lord that was shite defending from Germany
  7. One of the best goals of the tournament from Germany there damn.
  8. I went down a Wikipedia rabbit hole on her career. She was the second leading scorer in the Eredivisie as a 15 year old and then two years later led the league in scoring with 39 goals as a 17 year old.
  9. Miedema is a killer in front of goal so that gives the dutch a small shot, but they haven't created anything in the run of play in the KO stage. If they can defend like hell and counter maybe they can pull the upset, but yeah, the bracket is super unbalanced.
  10. and, as someone else mentioned, France misses out on qualifying for the Olympics without losing to a UEFA team in the tournament.

  12. We fucked France twice tonight.
  13. I don't know that she exactly was Tobin's target, but Tobin had her eyes up the whole way and knew she was there and it was more like she knew she had Rapinoe behind Mewis if she couldn't get it to Mewis.
  14. To say France dominated the match is a matter of opinion (I don't agree, they didn't create much) but undoubtedly the US was poor. A 66 percent pass accuracy is shit at any level of soccer and they found a way to win. That's the difference in the history between these two teams. The USA has found ways to win and France typically finds ways to lose.
  15. The US really needs a midfielder who can control possession. Is there one anywhere on the team? Perhaps maybe a substitute who is arguably the best midfielder in the world the coach inexplicably refuses to start?
  16. Lucky to be winning a game in which the opposition has zero shots on goal. You guys remain the best.
  17. Ellis' shitty coaching choices have one positive and some negatives. While it was insanely dumb the way she used Lindsey Horan against Spain, Horan should be well rested and ready to go and having arguably the best player in the game fully rested and fit for a Quarterfinal is a big advantage. On the flip side how much will some of the older players (Rapinoe, Sauerbrunn, Heath) have in the tank for this game? Can she risk not starting Rapinoe to use her as a second half sub to keep her fresh? How much of a leash does Morgan have as she's been ineffective since playing Thailand? Jill Ellis is the big question mark. The US can out-talent most teams including France, but if this game is nip and tuck is she going to make the right decisions? It's a huge variable.
  18. Five years ago today I was in the building for the goal of the year.
  19. Uruguay beats Chile 1-0 and wins the group, Chile second. Ecuador and Japan draw and are both eliminated so Paraguay goes through. Brazil vs Paraguay Argentina vs Venezuela Colombia vs Chile Uruguay vs Peru
  20. Suarez asked for a handball on the goalkeeper inside the box hahahahaha
  21. Well if you want to be a smart ass about it sure.
  22. We "ass blasted" teams from CONMEBOL and Asia that shouldn't have been in the tournament. Spain has only recently started giving a shit about women's soccer and Real Madrid just announced they're starting a women's team so presumably it's just going to get better. TV ratings around the globe are great for the tournament. 7 million people in Italy watched their women's team play Brazil in the group stage so presumably some of the Serie A teams are going to start caring too. If Sweden hangs on here UEFA should get 7 of 8 teams in the QF (Italy and Netherlands are favored tomorrow). UEFA is trending upwards in women's soccer, particularly in the countries where men's soccer has been dominant at the club level. How much the gap has closed remains to be seen, but the gap is undeniably closing.

  24. both were correctly called by letter of the law. First one was a no doubter. Second was soft, but right.
