Don’t know if it’s been mentioned but Mum Foods Pastrami, Beef Rib, and Sausage at the Mueller, Lakeline, and Barton Creek farmers market on Saturday & Sundays have been legit. They just opened a delicatessen at the old Eastside Cafe on Manor Road. No BBQ there for now but you can get it at the farmer’s markets. Daniel Vaughn wrote an article about their pastrami. Give it a go if you haven’t yet!

Went there for lunch on Saturday and it was damn good.  Had the pastrami sandwich with swiss, slaw and a good sauce.  The pastrami was excellent.

    Also, fyi, it's byob.

  2. Anyone know where I can find the face value ticket prices for each game?  I know they vary based on location and who the opponent is, but I'm having trouble finding these numbers anywhere.  They used to print them on the tickets but, again this year, my season tix don't have the prices on them.

  3. "Should OU lose Hurts in a tragic scenario where one of his teammates drunkenly beats him into a coma, cuts his neck open with a screwdriver, or breaks his jaw thinking he's a woman, and he goes down for a month or more, Tanner Mordecai is the replacement and he’s as prepared as okie high school students are for future life success."

Excellent sentence and thread title. Kudos.

mdmost and I will be in Chicago next week for s few days to take in a Cubs game amongst other activities. Staying in the Miracle Mile area. Any recs for a place with a really good, extensive beer selection and also with good food that is somewhat close to/along the rail lines or not too terribly far of an Uber from them? I’ve looked up several breweries and beer bars that look good but all seem to be much more north or out further west from where we are staying or along the rail line I’d assume we’d be using (such as the one we will take to get to Wrigley).

    TIA

I'll second The Publican rec.  We were there recently and it was really good.

If you mean GM Steakhouse there was absolutely nothing questionable about their burgers. It could be nostalgia fucking with me, but I still think that's the best cheeseburger I've ever had in Austin.

Yep, they were damn good.  Ate there often, especially my freshman year.

We are going to Jazzfest in May and I have made reservations at Cafe Degas and Carrollton Market. These are two places we've never been to before and I'm looking forward to both. We've been to almost all of the well regarded places and our favorites are Brigtsen's and Shaya.  Chef Brigtsen was really cool and gave us a tour of his kitchen and let us ask questions of his chefs about some of the dishes. Herbsaint was pretty disappointing the last time we went but Dookie Chase's was better than ever. We love going out to the lake and eating at Deanie's.

Have heard good things about Carrollton Market, but have not been yet.  Report back please.

Also, Brigtsen's and Shaya are favorites of ours as well...always solid.

It took me a little bit to get into it, but I really enjoyed it by the end.

Yep, I really enjoyed it.  Also, recently finished Rules of Civility and liked it as well, but not as much as this one.

This place is awesome. Unseen in the top of the second picture was the seafood hushpuppies. As you can see, they were awesome. The dish was duck hash. Very good

Chicken and biscuits. Holy hell I want so bad

I probably gained 40# on this trip. Need a salad cleanse for the rest of the month. 9f21a732ad94f27621bc8d11e0b8dfea.jpg6e8aff529f07a9fb55e29ef6fff73f0f.jpg1076ecdc55a6bb00872e0a2c2f01e8d8.jpg

It really is good.  If I recall correctly, when we had brunch there, they made a damn good bloody too.

Finished Call of the Wild and then read Blood Meridian. I loved Call of the Wild. I am still trying to figure out if i loved Blood Meridian or not. It was a page turner no doubt and created some great scenes and at least one incredible character. I am going to think about it for a few and then decide. I'm thinking of staying with a western theme and reading the Son next.

The Son was really good.  Went on a Western binge recently and it was one of the best I read, along with The Sisters Brothers and Butcher's Crossing.
