  1. I know that we can play this game over and over and over again, but can you imagine how hysterical Fox News would be if the Biden administration had announced that the US Dollar being the world's reserve currency was a bad thing and they were going to change that?

  2. Honestly I think this all blows over relatively quickly. Trump's Q&A with Bibi yesterday and that Truth(?) posted above are your clues. Trump is just looking for political wins off this. All these other countries aren't dumb, they know that he is just looking to be appeased. They'll start lining up to announce bold pledges to eliminate their trade imbalance with the US and big investments that were either going to happen anyway or are purely imaginary. It's just like the Softbank/AI/etc stuff but with countries instead of corporations. That way Trump can take a bunch of victory laps on social media and announce that he's dropping the tariffs on country X because he won big beautiful concessions from them. Rinse and repeat, line starts to the left.

Sorry in advance for hurting anyone's fifis by mentioning Trump. I just don't see how the current market can be discussed without doing it.

  3. Netanyahu just laid out the game plan in the joint Q&A session. Promised to eliminate the trade deficit with the US as quickly as possible. We'll see a bunch (all?) other countries pledge to do the same in short order. Trump gets to take a victory lap for standing up to the rest of the world and eliminating the trade deficit, tariffs are quietly dropped, and in the end nothing much changes. I think this is NAFTA -> USMCA all over again. Facts on the ground never matter, just the narrative.

  4. I went to a Brazilian steakhouse last night that had a big selection of XAs so I tried a glass of Tears of Llorona. It was very good, but just so different from drinking a blanco or reposado. It feels like XA was invented so bourbon drinkers have something to order at Mexican restaurants.

I chuckle when my generac app notifies me that my unit is “exercising.”

I’m guessing it charges the starter battery and moves oil around. That reminds me, I guess I need to extend the warranty past 2026 as mine was installed in late 2021.

And to the previous post, I need to change the oil on my small Honda backup backup unit.

This is how you Houston, folks.

  6. Just got back from Vegas. Not news to this thread, but blackjack is over on the strip. It’s all 6/5 unless you want to bet $50+ per hand. Every casino has those terminals where you can play along with a live game but even the one of those I sat down at (NYNY) was 6/5. Saw a bunch of triple zero roulette, too. People gotta stop playing that kind of shit.

FWIW, started the week at the M (conference) and they had plenty of 3/2 tables at $10 or $15. I guess the move in Vegas now is to stay on the strip for food/shows/clubs and Uber elsewhere if you want to play table games.

Tell me about the Ford Mach EV… we are considering another used EV for my 15 year old. He’s eyeing that one.

something like this one (225 mile range):  https://www.carvana.com/vehicle/3545170?refSource=home

    other options welcome.

    used only.

I've spent all morning talking with dealers about buying one so I feel pretty well versed at the moment. It came down to the Mach E versus the Hyundai Ioniq 5 for us. My wife didn't care but I liked the Mach E a little more just because I think it looks cooler and I feel more comfortable about starting a 10-year relationship with Ford than I do with Hyundai. They are both really nice vehicles.

The Mach E feels like a hell of a lot of car for a 15 year old. Maybe that's true of all EVs though. Ride is a little rougher than the Ioniq 5 but it's not awful. The big strike against the Mach E, and the thing that almost killed it for us, is the controls/infotainment system. It's a giant, vertically-oriented tablet in the middle of the dash and that's it. No physical controls for anything whatsoever. The A/C controls stay on the screen at all times but they're all the way at the bottom so you have to look quite low to use them. And since it's just a touch screen, you do have to look. We ultimately decided that we could live with it because we liked the rest of the car, but to be 100% honest with you I can't see how it won't be distracting as fuck for a teenager/new driver. He's going to be playing with the goddamn tablet instead of driving.

Just in case the n00bs don't know.....there is a SP games started cap for your team at 193 starts it looks like (used to be 200 I guess espn lowered it).

I have no idea how it got to 193. It started at 200 and I never touched it. I just set it back to 200.

Is there some scuttlebutt about the dad not liking Texas? Despite the data point about going to the Tenn junior day over UT, there’s still a lot to like here with the visit history and “at least 50/50” doesn’t read to me like the “writing is on the wall”. It reads like all three of these kids play the same position.

I assume it's just a reference to his dad having played at TCU.

And the trend matters way more than the absolute position in recruiting. If the reporting has gone from "don't worry about Fasusi, Turntine is ours" to "at least 50/50" in 6 months, it's a major negative indicator. They're setting it up to let the subscribers down softly.

  10. So the final decision isn't made but we're kind of zeroing in on the Ioniq 5. I'd want an SEL (middle trim), AWD. I live in Houston so AWD is hardly a must but the AWD has significantly more power, which sounds fun. Problem is, there isn't a single new AWD vehicle on a lot in the Houston area, according to Hyundai's website. Maybe not even in Texas. Not one.

I checked a random Hyundai dealership in Denver, and that dealer alone has 146 in stock and 23 more on the way.
