Did it ever stream in the US?
We just finished streaming the first season of Outrageous. Another British period drama but it's so good and very timely. Based on a family with 5 sisters and a brother as the tides of fascism rise. Each episode got better. Amazing acting and writing. The patriarch was played by James Purefoy.
Loved Outrageous. Can’t wait for Season 2. The Mitford family was wild.

Dems need to give them a cutthroat reflection of their posturing. Each week that goes by with no deal, up the ante. This week reps get off with the healthcare items. Next week it’s the healthcare items + [insert other generally appealing thing to voters at large]. The next week, we ask for a new goodie. Put the vise to their metaphorical nuts.

Holy fuck, Option 3. Not a single NW Hills family will agree to that.

Can someone please provide me with the link to a short essay that was posted here within the last couple of months? I can't remember enough of it to effectively search for it.
It was written as a letter from a father to his son from some time in the future, and the father explains how in hindsight, he was too busy to notice and/or didn't give much credence to the slow creep of fascism when it was happening, and how it never feels as apparent in the moment as we assume it must have to people in past instances for whom we have the benefit of hindsight to judge their actions. The letter also goes on to give advice about some friend and/or sexual partner who is fleeing persecution or some such thing, taking care to only refer to them by initials, lest the letter get intercepted by the bad guys.
Little help?
I believe it was Love Letter by George Saunders.

That's the family of long time UT law prof. Alex Albright. I had heard through family that she lost a grandchild. Just heartbreaking.
Yes, I’m separately friends with her son. Glad she apparently wasn’t there that day.

Just found out our very good friends lost their toddler while their river house was ripped apart in Kerrville. Mom saved the older child. Absolutely devastating.

Who knows where they would end up if Maga is defeated, but Tim and Bill Kristol have shockingly been more on the pulse regarding the grotesque deportations (and frankly many other issues) than most of the Dem leaders have. They are podcast hosts so very different stakes involved, but it’s a bit disheartening that former neocons are more passionate leaders on these issues than many true-blue dems.
I do think Tim and Bill pretty frequently castigate themselves over their wrongly-held prior beliefs. Sarah less so.

Dumb question alert: are you saying there are plaintiffs with the actual initials AA and RP (or four plaintiffs with an initial beginning with A, A, R, and P) but the full name is anonymous? Or is AARP totally random and just happens to be the same acronym as the AARP for retired people?

Well, we’ve upgraded our plans from lightly pursuing an out-of-state move to a serious pursuit of AU/NZ residence. I had a pretty pessimistic view of how this would all shake out, but it has somehow managed to outpace my own morbid imagination. I imagine our family is only a few rungs up on the scapegoat ladder from where we’re at now, and I don’t intend to wait around and find out if we can help it. It will probably take at least a year to get the visa we will need, so no time like the present.

Loving Collin from Accounts on recommendation from this thread.
I loved the Other Two. The main actress was from one of my favorite High Maintenance episodes, so I was very happy to see her getting more work. I would recommend it universally, but it does have some very specifically targeted humor at times.
Would also recommend Search Party (now on Max). It takes you on quite the ride.

I think the key messaging point should be “What’s in [any of this] for you?” It transcends race, class, gender, and wouldn’t pin you down to any one lane of political ideology.

last I went by there it's still empty. not sure if they're waiting to redevelop or what
to me this is still couched language. these people only know plain language. start saying shit "dangerously idiotic" or "massively moronic" or "fucking stupid". they're not going to respond to anything else
I did just get out of a partners meeting that had a few old-school Reagan types, and when the question of whether we should hire more associates in one of the groups came up, one of them shouted “We better not! We’re about to tip into a recession because of these fucking, god-damn moronic tariffs!” Everyone in the room then laughed and nodded along.

Actually, if ANY "financing" is involved with the project, it almost certainly IS following "Sharia law," because traditional interest-based lending is barred by Sharia law. Instead, Islamic finance mechanisms are used (these are quite common, and are offered by multiple institutions, including some right here in Austin -- again, they are common):
The problem here is that there is absolutely nothing illegal about such arrangements. "Sharia law" -- the broad term -- is not illegal. The sole basis for these assholes to go after the transaction is based on religion.
But, being that the 1st Amendment only applies to white, Christian males, making statements in support of/agreement with the regime, nothing fucking matters anymore.
This is actually one of my practice sub-specialities, although I don’t do as much as I once did. Deals incorporating some sort of Ijarah (similar to a ground lease) structure are fairly common place and offered by all the big players. I realize he’s throwing red meat to the base, but this is such an anti-business attitude, which I thought was all we cared about in Texas.

- Blond blob leave separately. They all hate each other.
- Belinda takes the money.
I think this is right except that the three women remain “friends” after the ordeal and begrudgingly indicate that they will talk soon/plan their next trip.

I’m speculating and haven’t seen any gossip at all about this, but I bet it’s prescription opiates. You just don’t see a lot of liver failure, even with alcohol abuse, at such young an age.
I would venture it’s likely to be a genetic or autoimmune condition like autoimmune hepatitis, Wilson’s, Primary Biliary Cholangitis (PBC) or PSC. I know someone (36F, marathon runner, doesn’t drink, thin, healthiest person I know) with PBC who is currently dealing with this and will likely be facing a liver transplant in the next decade.

I live in Sonoma and love it. We don't have kids with us, so I have no informed opinion on the schools here.
The weather is great. The wine is great. The political climate (for me and I assume others on this thread) is great.
The downsides? Taxes are higher. Home prices are higher. There's always a fire risk in the fall, particularly if you live in a more rural area.
Marin is a center for anti-vax sentiment I believe, even if not MAGA. It might be even more expensive than Sonoma.
There is no paradise on Earth. It's all compromise. On balance, Sonoma is a winner for us.
Gracias. Do you have any towns in particular that you would recommend in addition to Sonoma proper?
-
2 Mom (no pics) family, 2 under 2. We love Austin, but think our time may be coming to an end here given the evolving climate. Still in the early planning stages, but my firm indicated I could stay on if we moved to California or Colorado, which is great news but shakes up out plans a bit as we were thinking more east coast.
Any intel on the vibes in Marin/Sonoma County or Laguna Nigel, particularly for our family situation? In Denver, should we look to the burbs or Denver proper + private school? Anywhere I'm overlooking?
Thanks!

Apparently the only way a phone isn’t trackable is if you remove the battery (which you usually can’t). They also apparently have technology which can link burner phones to your usual phone/home (they can tell if a phone spends a lot of time at a certain location or around other phones), so a burner phone won’t work if you ever take it home or bring it around your standard phone.
