  1. Loved Outrageous. Can’t wait for Season 2. The Mitford family was wild.
  2. Dems need to give them a cutthroat reflection of their posturing. Each week that goes by with no deal, up the ante. This week reps get off with the healthcare items. Next week it’s the healthcare items + [insert other generally appealing thing to voters at large]. The next week, we ask for a new goodie. Put the vise to their metaphorical nuts.
  3. Holy fuck, Option 3. Not a single NW Hills family will agree to that.
  4. I believe it was Love Letter by George Saunders.
  5. Yes, I’m separately friends with her son. Glad she apparently wasn’t there that day.
  6. https://www.texasmonthly.com/news-politics/texas-flood-firsthand-account/ A first hand account regarding my prior post.
  7. Just found out our very good friends lost their toddler while their river house was ripped apart in Kerrville. Mom saved the older child. Absolutely devastating.
  8. Who knows where they would end up if Maga is defeated, but Tim and Bill Kristol have shockingly been more on the pulse regarding the grotesque deportations (and frankly many other issues) than most of the Dem leaders have. They are podcast hosts so very different stakes involved, but it’s a bit disheartening that former neocons are more passionate leaders on these issues than many true-blue dems. I do think Tim and Bill pretty frequently castigate themselves over their wrongly-held prior beliefs. Sarah less so.
  9. She was a college softball player…I think she may be protesting a bit too much.
  10. Well, we’ve upgraded our plans from lightly pursuing an out-of-state move to a serious pursuit of AU/NZ residence. I had a pretty pessimistic view of how this would all shake out, but it has somehow managed to outpace my own morbid imagination. I imagine our family is only a few rungs up on the scapegoat ladder from where we’re at now, and I don’t intend to wait around and find out if we can help it. It will probably take at least a year to get the visa we will need, so no time like the present.
  11. Loving Collin from Accounts on recommendation from this thread. I loved the Other Two. The main actress was from one of my favorite High Maintenance episodes, so I was very happy to see her getting more work. I would recommend it universally, but it does have some very specifically targeted humor at times. Would also recommend Search Party (now on Max). It takes you on quite the ride.
  12. I think the key messaging point should be “What’s in [any of this] for you?” It transcends race, class, gender, and wouldn’t pin you down to any one lane of political ideology.
  13. I did just get out of a partners meeting that had a few old-school Reagan types, and when the question of whether we should hire more associates in one of the groups came up, one of them shouted “We better not! We’re about to tip into a recession because of these fucking, god-damn moronic tariffs!” Everyone in the room then laughed and nodded along.
  14. This is actually one of my practice sub-specialities, although I don’t do as much as I once did. Deals incorporating some sort of Ijarah (similar to a ground lease) structure are fairly common place and offered by all the big players. I realize he’s throwing red meat to the base, but this is such an anti-business attitude, which I thought was all we cared about in Texas.
  15. I think this is right except that the three women remain “friends” after the ordeal and begrudgingly indicate that they will talk soon/plan their next trip.
  16. Love the Player and immediately caught the nod to Griffin. Really digging this show. Episode 2 created a curb-meets-uncut gems level of anxiety in me.
  17. I’ve never felt so seen
  18. I would venture it’s likely to be a genetic or autoimmune condition like autoimmune hepatitis, Wilson’s, Primary Biliary Cholangitis (PBC) or PSC. I know someone (36F, marathon runner, doesn’t drink, thin, healthiest person I know) with PBC who is currently dealing with this and will likely be facing a liver transplant in the next decade.
  19. She may be certainly be crazy, but I get the sense she is just trying consolidate power via instigating various witch-hunts and weaponizing the Speech and Debate immunity a La Joseph McCarthy.
  20. Gracias. Do you have any towns in particular that you would recommend in addition to Sonoma proper?
  21. 2 Mom (no pics) family, 2 under 2. We love Austin, but think our time may be coming to an end here given the evolving climate. Still in the early planning stages, but my firm indicated I could stay on if we moved to California or Colorado, which is great news but shakes up out plans a bit as we were thinking more east coast. Any intel on the vibes in Marin/Sonoma County or Laguna Nigel, particularly for our family situation? In Denver, should we look to the burbs or Denver proper + private school? Anywhere I'm overlooking? Thanks!
  22. I made not just great, but perfect grades in math until calculus. Went to law school.
  23. Exactly. I’m just going to have to vote again. I think they were en route to refilling, but I had to leave.
  24. Robust 30 minute line at downtown Austin city hall, but no stickers left when I went.
