  1. That’s the entire point of the post you’re responding to, that’s what he “wasn’t good at coaching them” means. So are you arguing that the team wasn’t talented enough or fit well enough to beat Abilene fucking Christian? Because the point I’m making is that talent and fit isn’t the reason they lost that game, poor coaching was.
  2. The team fit well enough last year to win the Big 12 tournament, that should’ve been enough to beat Abilene fucking Christian.
  3. Everybody is really saying the same thing. Recruiting wasn’t Shaka’s issue, he had more than enough talent to win, he failed schematically. But yeah, that should probably count more than 10%.
  4. Went from literally barely having a roster to “damn how are we going to split up the minutes with all these good players” all in the same offseason. As it stands right now, Disu, Bishop, and Askew are all likely coming off the bench. Febres and Cunningham probably won’t even be in the rotation. The challenge now is going to be getting all these guys to buy into their roles.
  5. Good to have some surprises go our way. Looks like this cycle is going to keep us on our toes, no one knows anything until right before it happens.
  6. Sims has no offensive game, but he’s freakishly athletic and defensively he can switch on the perimeter. Those two things alone can carve out a nice career in the NBA for a big.
  7. No he hasn’t announced, he’s still choosing and we’re still in pursuit. That’s why I said trying. I just meant if Abmas was transferring, we could’ve had a shot, but we’d have to choose who to prioritize between him or Carr because they obviously wouldn’t both come.
  8. Would’ve had a better shot at Abmas if he had decided to transfer, and that’s only if we took him instead of trying to take Carr.
  9. Update: Both Abmas and Obanor are withdrawing from the draft. Abmas, I think is staying at ORU, not sure he ever entered the portal. Obanor is in the portal and sounds like he’s leaving.
  10. Yea, he just announced it. Now I’m trying to figure out what the two Oral Roberts kids are going to do.
  11. Teams who work the portal are going to need to keep 1 spot available until the NBA draft withdrawal deadline happens. A lot of good players like Bagley are just now really exploring the transfer market.
  12. The NCAA had plenty of chances to do this, but they are a useless, leaderless organization.
  13. It’s ridiculous. We have every tool available to dominate this brand new world and it looks like we simply are just choosing not to.
  14. Oh no, the horror. You’re assuming people didn’t know that this would be the outcome. Plenty of people knew, they just didn’t care, because not everyone has the same emotional attachment to the idea of “amateurism” as you do. And even many that did know that the ideal model of amateurism actually died a long time ago. You said it yourself, it was all just a veneer. You think Miami wasn’t paying players before this? The only thing that’s changed is that it’s now harder for you to lie to yourself about it.
  15. IT being gun-shy about every recruit after whiffing so hard on Banks is no surprise. Good or bad, I’m not much interested in their percentages either way.
  16. Every recent champion has had a roster filled with guys who got paid, it’s laughably naive to think otherwise.
  17. Xavion Brice committed to OU btw. One of our secondary options at DB.
  18. How, at this point, can you possibly think it wasn’t our 9.95ers who were bullshitting. They clearly didn’t know anything about this recruitment.
  19. They should be embarrassed, but I’m not sure they’re capable of feeling that emotion.
  20. I’ve largely ignored silent commitments for years, but specifically for this cycle, everyone should’ve ignored it after Jacoby Mathews was considered a silent. What a meaningless croc of shit that was.
