Maple and Ash opening there this summer.  It will blow both of those away.  Tons of eye candy too.

Yes!  Danny Grant bringing Maple and Ash to his home state.  Very excited for this one, but rumor has it that it will open in the fall not summer.  Probably wouldn't matter, but I think they want to make a splash durning high season not hot season.

  2. So when I played, '99-'02, the ncaa would come in and test once or twice a semester. Never during the summer.  They would "randomly" pull 10-15 social security numbers and watch us piss in a cup.  NCAA only tested for PEDs, all recreational tests were in house.  Assuming things haven't changed in the last 15 years, that would mean 20-30% of those tested at Clemson all popped positive for the same substance.  Would be interesting to see what the number would be if all 85 on scholarship were tested.  Doubt it's a coincidence.   But what do I know?  If Dabo says it came from a shampoo, than it probably did. I mean, what does he have to lose?

Well this place is now at the top of the list to go to in late September. Any recs on places to stay? The moja arts festival will be going on the week we plan to go so hotels seem to be more than usual.

Market Pavilion Hotel or the Spectator.  Very different but can't go wrong with either.

Any ideas on what to do with the chain trimmed from a whole beef tenderloin? I got 2 of them in the freezer and need to cook them in the near future.

Rub with salt, pepper, minced garlic, chopped rosemary and thyme.  Wrap tightly and leave in fridge overnight.  Thrown on the grill on direct med high heat for a couple minutes.  Let rest then chop into bite size pieces and serve as an app.  I do this every time I cook a tenderloin and it's always a huge hit.

Staying in Carefree technically but plan to spend most of our time in Scottsdale.

I shoot mid 80s typically.  I’ll probably get 3 rounds over the 5 days we’ll be there before my wife gets mad.  She’s been clear that she’ll let me golf but we need to explore the area too.

Food-wise we are looking for local places.  A nice blend of fancy dinners and also some casual lunch spots.  We’re not picky about cuisine.  Good drinks are always a major plus.  Would definitely want one really nice place to take the wife.

Both Troon North tracks are great, and can't go wrong with either Grayhawk track.  Seriously, pick one at both and trust it and enjoy.  As for the third round.... Unless you want to play where the pros play, I'd skip TPC Stadium.  It's overpriced and basically a resort course.  TPC Champions course is a better track and about half the price.

For dinner, there is a great Italian place up north called Sassi.  It's close to the Four Seasons and not far from where you are staying.  There is also a Mastro's up that way.  However, if you want to go that route, drive the extra 10 minutes and go to Mastro's Ocean Club.  The talent and people watching alone are worth it.  And get the fucking butter cake!!! As for romantic, take her to Elements at the Sanctuary Resort.  Make a reservation for after sunset, but get there early for cocktails at Jade Bar.  The drinks are great and the views over Paradise Valley are incredible.  Spend a few hours trolling around old town and don't have an agenda.  Plenty of serviceable lunch spots or places to grab a drink.  Kelly's or the Montauk are both good spots for a drink but you can find what fits your tastes.

Scottsdale is very big North to South and you are way the hell up North.  Just know going in that you are going to spend some time in a car if you want to experience it all.  You should have a blast though.  And let me know if you need anymore recommendations on hikes or spas or any other shit.  Enjoy.

  6. Where in Scottsdale are you staying?  How serious of a golfer are you?  What kind of meals are you looking for?  Do you need a recommendation for a romantic place to take the wife?  Let me know and I can try to fill in the blanks.

  7. This show gets nowhere near the level of love it deserves, maybe it's the IFC factor.  I laugh more at this show than I ever have with any show on any network.  The Jeter/Piazza gift baskets slayed me.  Would love to sit in on a writing session.

Playing in coaches vs cancer tournament in Vegas next month.  1st round at Shadow, 2nd at Southern Highlands.  Not a humble brag, just a brag.  I've played Shadow but not SH.  Any of you assholes played there?  What should I expect?
