  1. I just found out a friend of mine died a few days ago from an uncertain cause. He was working as a Lyft driver in Dallas, but was in Colorado buying some edibles before his trip back to the Philippines. He was 50 and made a bundle shorting the market the past few weeks, and was going to retire and marry a 20 year old Filipina. I had urged him to quit driving 10 days ago. I guess I will hear if it was the virus eventually.
  2. Due to a couple robberies next to the most popular grocery store in the area and lots more looks than usual from guys sizing me up as a target, I have stopped going out at night, and I don't carry my phone, flashlight, or debit/credit cards. I only have enough cash for the outing and carry my Philippines ID separately from my money in case the police stop me to check if I am a resident. People are getting hungry and I can see their desperation. The city police have been diverted to the checkpoints, so they are no longer around the foreigner areas as they usually are. A few men have rattled the gate to my apartment complex to see if it was unlocked. But they can just climb over from a couple different directions if they want to attempt a break-in. The next few weeks of lockdown will be interesting, and it looks like my girlfriend and I may need to stay home more than we like.
  3. Filipino PPE, seriously, it is already that bad in Manila that they are resorting to this.
  4. Philippines is up to 552 cases and 35 deaths. 28 of the 35 were Male and 25 of 35 were 65+. There are 20 recoveries. The vast majority of cases are still centered in Manila. The are still none in Angeles where I live. I heard there are 2 cases in Olongapo per a youtuber. I think that puts metro Manila 3 weeks behind Italy. The rest of the country has it better under control and with good mask usage and social distancing may keep it that way for a while longer.
  5. Since NDT sources have been posted numerous times on this thread I assumed people know what they are and would apply an appropriate filter to the information. Their reports bring up daily examples of CCP dishonesty which I find helpful to assess the big picture of CCP lies. The bottom line is anyone who trusts CCP data on this crisis is an idoit.
  6. Per NDT China did not count 43,000 asymptomatic positives as confirmed cases. China lost 21 million mobile subscribers in the past three months. An article published in a Japanese journal put the percentage of asymptomatic cases at 30.8%.
  7. ECGC is another proven zinc ionophore in vitro. Anything on that? I actually have a bottle and drink green tea most mornings. I read a dissertation by Dabbagh-Bazarbachi and he found it was a better ionophore than quercetin but less effective than clioquinol. I have not read anything about studies with clioquinol against covid19 either. Clioquinol is readily available for topical use and has been used for treating cancer.
  8. I had also considered heating masks to 150F or so as long as it does not damage adhesives. But I don't have a toaster oven or something similar. Luckily walking around outside gives plenty of uv to the outer surface of the mask.
  9. I like CCP virus that NDT and others opposed to the communist party are using. They use it since the CCP might have been able to stop it if they weren't so busy covering it up initially. Wuhan virus would also be a traditional style of name.
  10. I have decided to stick with the one living with me for the duration of the lockdown in order to minimize the possibility that a women could inoculate me with a large amount of virus. I will reassess the situation when the lockdown gets lifted as there are excellent opportunities with some of the hottest women around. Chasing and catching pussy will likely be the death of me, but hopefully many years in the future.
  11. That is bullshit as evident from the many countries effectively controlling the spread by having everyone wear a mask. If for no other reason, it forces asymptomatic carriers or people with mild symptoms to wear a mask. It also at the very least minimizes face touching by uninfected people so to say it has no benefit is pure bullshit.
  12. There are enough masks for the 100 million people in the Philippines. The cialis/viagra vendors are all selling masks now. Most are not N95 or surgical grade but they are better than nothing for wearing outside with other people around. There is no excuse for people in the us to have nothing to wear as a mask. I have two N95 masks I bought over a month ago, when my order from the previous month was canceled. I alternate them so they dry between uses and wash them every couple days. I realize that washing them reduces their effectiveness, but it will have to do for now.
  13. It is mandatory where I live in the Philippines but I just saw two American assholes refuse to wear one when my girlfriend and I went shopping this morning.
  14. It is amazing to me that a standard non-N95 mask mask is only 89% effective at filtering viruses. It is no wonder people get infections in hospitals.
  15. https://smartairfilters.com/en/blog/best-materials-make-diy-face-mask-virus/ At 1 micron but only 89% at 0.1 microns which is closer to the size of a virus. A cotton blend t-shirt is about 70%, so while not as good it is better than nothing
  16. The evidence in countries throughout the far east does not support your conclusion. The use and reuse of masks, which are often substandard to begin with, are almost certainly a big reason why the virus spread has been slowed. This is certainly not recommended in a hospital setting, but wearing nothing is far worse.
  17. Never mind the first point. 3 of the 25 dead in the Philippines are doctors from 3 different hospitals. 10 more doctors are infected and many other medical staff are quarantined.
  18. The Philippines added 73 cases and 6 deaths over night as they clear a testing backlog. It is now 380 and 25. They have 100,000 test kits, but they cannot keep up, and have no chance to get caught up.
  19. I watched a YouTube video yesterday of someone touring an Italian hospital. They where very excited when they took a patient off the vent who looked like he would survive. It was the first time anyone with the virus came off the vent alive at this hospital. Sorry no link.
  20. The government should suspend the ethanol requirement for gasoline and divert those supplies for sanitation.
  21. The Philippines has 307 cases and 19 deaths with the latest death being the House Secretary General of the House of Representatives. The good news is only one critical case out of 274 active cases. We can certainly hope that ratio holds, or something closer to it. Manila is still the worse hit. There are no known cases in Angeles city where I live, or Mabalacat city north of me that Includes much of Clark airport. They have set up rapid response units to put infected cases and their families into quarantine and test each case immediately. Those units also will disinfect the homes. This is actually the type of response I would expect from a high income country, so that part of the response is impressive, at least until they get overwhelmed. The response here is impressive except people are skipping meals or going a day or more without eating. I gave grocery money to 4 families yesterday. The day before I gave someone rent money. The Philippine government is on track to starve many more people than die from the disease. With major cities locking down my girlfriend's village of maybe 300 people isolated on Daram island has limited access to supplies. The will have to return to subsistence fishing.
  22. I remember reading a story about a foreigner stuck in China during a famine. He claimed that butchers would capture 10 to 12 year olds and his favorite cut was a thick rump steak.
