  1. Got damn… I never knew the name of that location until now. That’s 10 blocks from my first apartment in Baltimore and also an entire world away. Saw a ton of filming locations just bouncing around town, but never thought to look this one up. It’s such a block-block city that you often forget that bad things are just around the corner… it’s that way everywhere.
  2. [emoji58] What did you take away from your tasting?
  3. Giving the liver the next two weeks off, but wanted to kick this cleanse off in proper style. Not quite ready to crack the ‘Barn but this will suffice:
  4. Oh, harrrooooo It’s been such a pain in the ass securing one of these, so I’m hopeful that it lives up to the billing.
  5. This is me and traveling with a new baby is triggering as all get out. Following my parent’s example, I was always a get in/out as quickly as possible traveler. This “get to the airport 2.5 hours ahead of time to sit for 1.5 hours makes me loony”, especially given the lack of lounges in AUS and the restrictive policies for those actually present.
  6. ATX I find most of their finished products to be quite interesting, and I recall there are several small batches that don’t make distribution, so worth sniffing around for those. I always ask if there’s anything “off list” to try after prolonged exchanges with those behind the bar (use this everywhere) and it usually goes well.
  7. To be fair, I was cooking on ceramic and on an unfamiliar stove, so the slip of butter after the first turn cooked fast as shit [emoji23] You nailed the structure of that scene though - It’s all about love.
  8. One of the most expensive TV show sync budgets in years according to my BiL who is in the business. Apparently, the only request the director DIDN’T get through was one that clocked in at 200k for a 30 second usage. Head of the studio shut that down personally to avoid the precedent, but I don’t feel like the soundtracked lacked in any way, so prob for the best.
  9. Yeah, not shocked. Brenham location slaps much harder based on a limited sample size.
  10. Tell me more about Cinnamon Roll Man…
  11. Pieous in Belterra Feel you on the traditional approach, but this was a volume play as I was starving and didn’t want to take a fucking platter upstairs [emoji23]
  12. So, I decided to not fuck around today and went extra hard on the noach… Gentlemen, I present to you Smoked Brisket Pastrami Nachos with Serrano queso, grilled onions and chili avocados:
  13. Wasn’t expecting such a considered response in this thread… nice work! As someone who leans very blue, I feel the investment we’re making in Ukraine has the cleanest cost-benefit of any conflict we’ve supported in my lifetime. The Cold War provided a similar outcome, but the costs were unfathomable and the result was fleeting (see where we are today). This feels altogether different, and if the outcome matches our desire, we could finally see a break from Soviet thinking/control. You obviously can’t change the Russian psyche, but by removing their conventional military capabilities, their desires for a return to territorial prominence move from potentials to dreams.
  14. So, this week went from good to silly in a hurry. I’ve been fortunate enough to taste select vintages of d’Yquem over the years, all of which were superb… but they were entirely outclassed by this Fargues. This expression was simply mind blowing and worth every penny… what a bottle!
  15. Interesting… My only visit to Interstellar blew away stops at both Truth locations. Very much enjoyed Truth in Brenham, but would firmly put the Houston location into the “fine” category.
  16. I mean, you’re not wrong… but I’m coming off a VERY indulgent week and am tapering down.
  17. Meatballs with baked ricotta and a heirloom / pesto salad. Not necessarily pretty, but nonetheless perfect.
  18. Y’all is talking crazy… “Fine”?! This ain’t no Rudy’s!
  19. A year ago was the last time I was there and I doubt their policy has changed. They supposedly don’t drop random bottles… everything allocated is announced and folks like up, first-come first-served. A Smith days are supposed to be wild… glad I got to drink a bunch before I left the DMV!
  20. Yeah I don’t understand how anyone disliked this beauty. It’s complex, unique and goes down easy. To me it seemed like the argument against came from a purist’s perspective. There’s a broad range of brown water that pleases my palette.
  21. … and a happy NBD to you both!
