  1. Great advice from all here… depending on where this check comes in, I may go up to 4k for something like Burris, but I’ll absolutely get the can in now. Heard good things before about SS on this thread. Would you recommend the retail location on research or just hitting a kiosk?
  2. It’s time to gift myself something nice, so I’m thinking either a can or a thermal scope for the SCAR-17, both of which could be useful for hogs this fall. Thoughts on the best place to purchase either in Austin? Never gone the NFA route, but willing to do so with the right dealer.
  3. Didn’t know that but totally makes sense!
  4. Leftovers of that tasty rice from last night with green beans and ginger sesame cod:
  5. My father is gonna murder someone if they fuck up his Rombauer IV…
  6. This page continues to fuck! Good sirs, I present to you… Spiced coconut wings on duck sausage dirty rice with pan fried okra:
  7. Finally made it to Merrit Meats today and, um, I’m gonna have to twist the wife’s arm to come back to Round Top a couple times a year. No line at 12:50 and they had everything (not too surprising given how quiet it is this time of year, but still) Brisket - 9.5 Absolutely outstanding and if I’m being really picky it only lacked for a bit of bark. Perfectly cooked, glistening greatness that had an abundance of flavor. The ends were also stupid good Sausage - 8 Good snap, even though sliced, and expertly cooked but somewhat lacking in flavor. A purists sausage that really leaned into the traditional filling, but didn’t wow me. Ribs - 8.5 Match the notes for the sausage but the pepper on these boys shined through and they had a good bite Sides - 7.5 “Good” but nothing really special here despite the variety of approaches to each. That brisket tho…
  8. Pretty mid effort, but these chicken salad / bacon jobs rocked last week:
  9. ^^^ Love it and the Oat Grain Meanwhile, found an old fav in Tahoe:

    Pizza

It’s spectacular… as is the tuna, if you’re so inclined.
  11. Curried lamb chops, roasted zucs and potato cakes
  12. Cash offers or just trade?
  13. In 100 So, I finally made it to KG today and here’s how I’d break things down: Ribs: 8 - Great flavor and slid right off the bone but slightly over cooked/chewy Sausage: 9 - Would have liked a touch more snap, but perfectly cooked and loved the Mediterranean ingredients as a mixup Bowl: 9 - Couldn’t decide between the brisket and the lamb so I got a bowl with them both. Will certainly try on their own next time, but damn they were good as part of this dish Overall I was really impressed with what they’re doing here and I very much appreciate this chapter in the Evolution of Cen-Tex BBQ Final note: could have been an aberration, but you might want to avoid ordering ahead, as one dude showed up with an online order and waited just as long as everyone else.
  14. Hmm… from what I’ve heard, that dog don’t hunt. Also, I’m generally wary of products with already lackluster branding simply covering themselves in accolades from dubious sources.
  15. Amazing he could be bought so cheaply. Must have been a bunch of other shit and he flipped for reduced charges It continues to be depressingly disturbing that the price point for these traitors is so damn low… $17-5 for a critical FBI agent $20k for a Congress critter $15k for a Governor It’s petty graft alllll the way down.
  16. $270 is mighty steep but damn if I don’t love purple tops… catch and release
  17. They went over this on MSNBC last week with a former SS agent - Essentially, federal facilities are already quite secure, and they’re also used to having high profile convicts in limited capacity holding. SS would hand off custody to BoP staff, as they’re federal agents and are responsible for security. What actually happens? Who tf knows as we’re in untested waters…
  18. Actually found a whole lineup of OG High West yesterday as I was digging under the stairs, so I feel ya there. Very jealous of the glass rinser… wife was convinced that it would make the kitchen look “cluttered” so it didn’t sneak through.
  19. Central Market… paid through the nose but it was worth it. Enjoy!
  20. That was the trifecta back in the day… didn’t have much of a reason to go anywhere else except for food and nightlife. The fricken midgets at O’Sheas along with surly dealers who would talk shit to your face one hand and then bury your face in their tits the next we’re simply undefeated.
  21. Halibut with morel cream sauce, buttered Yukons and Israeli summer salad:
  22. RIP… those were the days. Long live the ‘Palace and being able to play beer pong on the strip.
  23. Got damn, son… I gots to get me down to Burnt Bean!
