  1. So basically it's little kid soccer....
  2. Shit, Verdun is still killing people a hundred years later
  3. I wish all I had was a tire sensor issue. Fucking rats ate the fuel injector wiring harness on my truck. There's a grand. Next day truck's throwing multiple codes. Turns out the EVAP system is F'ed. I go back and forth and back and forth with the dealership. Got them down from $1,300 to $820. Still not fixed. Have to find the time to take it in. Such an asswhip.
  4. Late to the party - sweater-hitters are on point.
  5. It's pronounced allla-meeee-dah
  6. It’s not that bad. I can carry two big as kettlebells up and down and back and forth. It’s the hanging that is hard.
  7. If you really want to just say fuck my life, someone hit me with a car.....get or go to a gym with aerodyne bikes. Tabata's on an assault bike are puke worthy. Combined with farmers carries, oooffff.
  8. Look up Peter Attia and his suggestions for women and fitness as they age. Guy's amazing. Per Attia and others, muscle mass for women is hyper-critical as they age. VO2 Max, grip strength, mobility, bone density. All critical indicators of physical performance and a radical decrease in all-cause mortality factors. I used to scoff at heavy weight farmers carries. Now I can't get enough of it.
  9. Bring us back some...
  10. FBI had an old drill called the Tueller Drill they used to train agents with. It's up for some debate now, but the basic premise was someone with a knife/bat/etc. can cover 21 feet before you can clear your holster and get off a shot. If you are expecting it, sure you can make the shot. Out and about your normal life, I put some merit into it. Your brain can't process what is happening fast enough to react. But again, you "fell" to the level of training your subconscious, monkey brain remembers. And I remember the Kempo movie "The Perfect Weapon" having just about the baddest assest scene ever for the time when four dudes tried to take his wallet
  11. That's called adrenaline. It's why couch-cowboys who buy a gun, or a knife, or a baton think they are just going to "see red" and be able to perform. Doesn't work like that. Your fine motor skills go to shit. It's why a sport like BJJ, even if you are not any good, get you to experience having other people put their hands on you (and try to strangle you) helps inoculate you to some extent. I've never been mugged, but I was in think brush and was charged by a very large, very angry boar. I don't remember clearing my pistol, firing, and most certainly missing each and every shot at almost point blank range. Luckily he ran right past me. But I get it. The shakes last for what seems like an eternity. What's the expression - you don't rise to the occasion, you fall to your lowest level of training/preparation. As a gun guy, I'm talking to all you other gun guys.....adrenaline is a motherfucker, and @Gatorubet you did well thinking on your feet like that. Use the hose. Douse everyone and everything. Don't try and be a hero.
  12. Glad you're ok
  13. Shit. A big Canadian goose or a swan can send you to the hospital. Wing force of a baseball bat swung at full force. I concur. Especially when they hunt in packs. Get o e on your back. Game over.
  14. Only thing I can wrap my brain around was a scouting event I took my son to years back. He got sick and we had to leave. As we were driving out a massive storm hit and washed away many of the tents/campsites and parents later told us they had to hide in their vehicles. We spent the day trying to reach dads and family members to make sure everyone was ok. But this. I just can’t.
  15. Been out of state but following this. Truly, truly terrible.
  16. You knew here? It’s a complete shit show as this thread clearly illustrates
  17. I have a pair of those old, wooden shoe stretchers that work great on boots. I just slide them in there, crank them open and leave overnight. worked on both mine and my son's new boots. Might help?
  18. Agree with this, but I go back to the earlier and much more recent example of the histrionics about the advent of the internet. It spawned many more multiples of jobs in fields never before imagined than it eliminated. This is only a few decades past.
  19. Let's be fair, "most" blockbuster movies are light on plot & character development and high on explosions and actors dripping with HGH and peptides. Harry Potter doesn't fit this mold, but that is because it's a book adaptation. Same with GOT.
  20. "Maybe" - they said the same thing about the internet. How it was going to replace tens of millions of jobs, only to see hundreds of millions of new opportunities arise. One of the best quotes I've heard about innovation and disruption was along the line of asking people a hundred+ years ago what they all wanted: a faster horse.
  21. Hollywood is going to be even more bifurcated with their movie types - you'll have your lower budget shows that feature actors together focusing on plot and character development, and then all your big, blockbuster stuff will be mainly AI driven. All your fantasy, superhero, Jurassic park, etc. stuff will be AI driven where plot and storytelling give way to animation and special effects.
