  1. I am too depressed about our o-line to go full offseason optimistic psycho, so I am channeling all of my irrational optimism into Ja’Tavion Sanders and what will surely be a first team All American season.
  2. Losing to ULM and UTSA is unthinkable (not impossible) and beating Bama is unthinkable (and impossible) so our season really starts 9/24 at Lubbock. I'd rather be naked and roll down a hill of broken glass than lose to Tech. Still, I am very worried about this game. I think you are going to see our o-line get manhandled by a bunch of 2 stars and JUCO transfers. Will that open the eyes of any of the irrational optimists on this board? I doubt it. There will still be time in the season to improve!
  3. I'd like to end the offseason thread with one last complaint about Sark not getting a couple of quality o-line starters from the transfer portal. Now, on to the spring!

  9. Belichick saw Brady, the greatest QB of all time, every day in practice. Did he go with Tom? Nope, he gave a 10 year contract to Bledsoe. Belichick fell assbackwards into "greatness."
  10. Twice in recent history Jimmy G has had injuries that cut his season substantially short. Injury History Date League Injury Details Sep 18, 2016 NFL Shoulder A/C Joint Sprain Garoppolo returned to the #2 role behind Tom Brady in Week 5. Sep 23, 2018 NFL Knee ACL Tear Grade 3 Garoppolo tore his left ACL late in Week 3 and missed the rest of the season. He had surgery Oct. 3. Sep 20, 2020 NFL Pedal Ankle (high) Sprain Grade 3 Garoppolo picked up a high right ankle sprain during the Week 2 win against the Jets. He missed two games Nov 1, 2020 NFL Pedal Ankle (high) Sprain Grade 3 Garoppolo suffered an ankle injury during Week 8's contest at Seattle. He missed the rest of the season. 11. Maybe I didn't make it clear. You can not start and get NIL money as an o-lineman at Texas. Likely not the case for Bama, UGA and Ohio State (and programs at that level). After their freshman year, they can transfer to a better program, likely start and then get NIL money from being with those schools. That is my concern about our potential suckage on the field this year. Being concerned about starting the same terrible o-line as last season is rational. Expecting them to play well is not rational. They can't be coached-up well enough for us to win. They don't have the innate talent.
  12. I think o-line are a unique case. If they go to Bama or Georgia or Ohio State, they likely don't see the field much as freshmen - no NIL money. They can come to Texas and get the guaranteed pancake NIL money as true freshman. If Texas is an abortion on the field (my big fear because of our likely starting o-line) they then roll out to a better performing program with a more likely shot at a starting job which means NIL money from being with that new new school.
  13. You should know to stop yourself anytime you begin a statement with those words.
  14. This is where we disagree. I think it is very possible. It is Sark's job. This is why he is paid many millions. What good is signing elite freshmen if they will leave because your team sucks on the field (again)? If we run out mostly last year's o-linemen as starters and we get to 8 or more wins, I will tip my hat and admit I was wrong. If we win only 5, 6 or 7 games in 2022, and (as I fear) we lose some of these elite freshmen o-line recruits, I won't expect the same from you. Everyone will be pissed in November & December but deluded optimism will have hit again by January 2023.
  15. Getting elite freshmen o-line recruits AND signing some 1-year contributors for the line (to help us to 8 or 9 wins) are not mutually exclusive. If we run out essentially the same starters on the o-line as last season, I think 7 wins is our ceiling but we likely go 6-6. 5-7 isn't out of the question.
  16. ......not if we suck and many (or most) of our elite o-line freshman decide to transfer. We didn't need to win the Big 12 in 2022 but we needed to get to at least 8 wins to have hopes of retaining all of these o-line recruits. That is not likely to happen because of our certain poor o-line play.
  17. I am worried we lose some or all of those guys to the portal with a 5 or 6 win season. That is a very real possibility because we are running out this same abysmal o-line.
  18. I have no idea which linemen in the portal are obvious starters. I don't get paid millions of taxpayer dollars to know this. Sark does. If Baylor can turn their team around in a season by getting linemen from the portal, we can do it as well. We've gone through 2 offseasons with Sark not getting o-line starters through the portal. In regards to interest working both ways.....THAT IS SARK'S F*&^ING JOB. He has to close on quality linemen through the portal. No excuses. If he rolls out there with the same shitshow as last season, he has failed at his job. Again, Baylor did this. It worked for them. Then again, Baylor is much better than us at the 2 major sports so they obviously have better people in leadership roles in their athletics department. My God, I can't believe what I am typing is true.
