l In the opposite direction is Georgia. That state appears to be consistently overrated when comparing recruiting rankings to players in the NFL. And I mean, it's dramatic. So which trough is a healthy chunk of the SEC feeding off of the most outside of FL and TX? Georgia. It's overrated and pumping the rankings for multiple SEC schools in the process.
besmirch the ghost of paul johnson at your own peril.

Have y'all noticed how when trying to convince themselves of the greatness of their players they will mention an average player and add this line: (who I think is going to be special). I guess this helps them deal with the cognitive dissonance. I'm pretty sure I've seen bizzle do it on this thread.
i do it for all our players.
and for the 4 or 5 people here that actually want to discuss players, i'm happy to do it. otherwise 20 pages of posting screengrabs from 55 year old texags morons seems a bit redundant.

Sorry that Jimbo Cuck-Fisher doesn't like to recruit DBs with freakish athleticism.
he loves to recruit those guys, they just all end up at alabama.

Maybe I'm in the minority, or I'm biased, but I truly believe we have a better TE haul than they do. Leibrock is as good as Cupp, and Wiley is going to prove a lot of people wrong. I like Cupp, but their other TE (I won't even begin to butcher the kid's name) really isn't that great. He looks slow as shit and meh. He may turn out to be good and I'll eat crow, but I seriously doubt it.
absolutely.

Liucci doesn't even have Tyler Owens in his top 44.
i fear that's gonna hurt his ranking in the industry composite.

Didn't want to sign early because he wanted to take more visits, and so Bama replaced him with Banks
Havent been following him closely, but for awhile LSU was confident in landing him
they upgraded with two guys we thought we had a shot at in banks and carter. he's probably a safety/corner tweener, and we have plenty of those already.

Green ending up at guard and Shepherd transferring after one season is going to be all the lulz.
this is gonna get awkward with shepherd is an all-america at georgia.

So you are good with your linebacker options next year? What about that DLine? Oh yes, and please tell me about your corners while you are at it.
if this is an honest question, the answers are not really, yes, and i think we'll be ok.
linebackers - really shaky. anthony hines is more pedigree than anything at this point, but we have to hope he's a contributor. i like buddy johnson, but not sure he's a guy that can play consistently if he's not in space. one of ke'shun brown and andre white are going to have to be ready to go (probably white) and you pray somebody (hansford, kiante mccoy, grad transfer) rises up to take some snaps.
dline - has a chance to be really good by mid-season, needs to get there early. i think bobby brown moves to dt because leal will be better day 1, and between him, diallo, madubuike, and jayden peevy we'll be just fine, even if derick hunter (who i love) and adarious jones take a while to get ready. the weak spot is a guy that can bring pressure, but hoping someone between tyree johnson, clemons, or leal can provide that. max wright also should be back to full health and i'm curious if he gives 10-15 good snaps a game.
at corner, not sure how it can be worse - always dangerous to hope too much on a juco, but elijah blades' film is awesome, and another year in the system should give us some more options at the boundary corner. (renfro, elam, fuller and chattman all have their good and bad - i fear oliver is broken forever). we also should get better safety play year 2 - elko demands a ton, and i wouldn't be surprised if brian williams ends up playing a lot of snaps at some point.
i said on here earlier i think we're a top 25 s&p+ defense next year (after 36 this year) - nothing spectacular, but if the linebackers hold up (big if) we should be ok.

In fairness, Spavital turned out to be good and has beaten us twice as an OC with two different teams. Sumlin.. well..
Although, Bizzle, please do me a favor. When you guys get your 5th loss next year, please bump this post and tell me how *extremely* good it was.
no, i think you're correct, every guy we're losing was "critically important with a huge dropoff in talent behind them" and texas will "easily reload with quality talent."

Aggy is losing critically important guys with a huge dropoff in talent behind them. I would argue that we will easily reload at most positions with corner and LB the only true unknowns, but with quality talent there. There are a few seniors I am happy to lose.
this is an *extremely* good post.

Is there a single out?
i think ezra's post said something along the lines of "three 2-song drops every month until the record is out" which I believe start next week . . .

am i the only one truly excited for the vampire weekend double album, or am i setting myself up for massive disappointment?

Honestly thought that kid had a lot of potential. Kind of surprised it hasn't worked out for him.
And yeah, look at his bio - he's gone: https://twitter.com/6_zeal
supposedly a really good kid. needs to go somewhere that he can flex out some as i'm just not sure he's got the frame to be an in-line tight end.

Geography bias in rankings ...
25 of the top 50 recruits on 247 composite are from sec footprint (FL, GA, MS, AL, LA, SC).
How is this possible?
primarily a combination of sordid american history and socioeconomics.

I meant to ask your thoughts on Spiller. How good do you think he'll end up? He won't be Williams, but legit your thoughts.
i think spiller is one of those guys who went from being overrated to underrated pretty quickly. not sure he's a franchise guy, but really liked the limited tape i've seen of his senior year. i think he can help next year, part of which is the lack of guys other than corbin with his skill set.

Aggy can't seriously think we would give a shit if he went there, right? Even they have to acknowledge that we don't give a fuck.
hell yeah.

I've always been under the impression that he's a WR or a S
Also, LSU might be getting the brothers Sopsher now, which probably also helps them with Lee
we're recruiting him at lb. dude has a pretty big frame.
not nearly the size / speed combo of christian harris, but wouldn't be a terrible consolation prize.

Aggy is buying players. This isn’t news
The first clue was when top Texas talent who some had no interest in Aggy immediately commit to them and shut down their recruitment. (Leal, Williams, Richardson). But hey, Jimbo could just be that good of a recruiter. Because he built that relationship in a coupe weeks. Wink wink
Then you have the out of state guys who were heavy leans to regional programs randomly commit to Aggy out of nowhere. (Andre White Jr., Derrick Hunter, Kenyun Jackson, Elijah Blades, Adarious Jones, Ke-Shun Brown). These guys were known guys on the market.
The rest grew up wearing Aggy pajamas or were brainwashed by their town (Green, Cupp, Wydermer, Spiller)
And that folks is how you buy a Top 5 class.
i can masturbate to this.

Jimblo: " I guarantee a #1 or #2 recruiting class, guaranteed"
Rankings: aggy #3
Jimblo: "As far as the recruiting class goes, mission accomplished"
Public: Uh, no Jimblo, 3 is not 1 or 2. Adjusted expectations?
we're all pretty pissed at jimbo for the #3 overall class. hard to find a single guy in there worthy of a power 5 scholarship imo.

If you ever have the misfortune of visiting that state again, give it a look-see. Can't do much about Google disagreeing, even when they're off.
pine valley is the only acceptable reason to step foot inside the state.

It was tl,dr it all, but his premise about 7-5/8-4 was spot on.
i'm always spot on.
unless i've been drinking in charleston for 3 straight days after personally watching kenny hill throw for over 500 yards. then, i would definitely take the opposite side of whatever opinion is being offered.

I would take this bet in a heartbeat. A&M finished 42nd in S&P this year and loses most of their front 7.
The offense might improve next year IF Sternberger and Williams return. I don’t see the defense making a 12 spot jump when they lose the strength of that unit.
there are some holes to fill, but i believe in elko and some of the options he has at those spots.
i fell hard for tim deruyter (who is currently kicking ass at cal) and i'm trying to keep myself from doing the same with elko, but the guy's pretty damn solid.
