  1. Dumb question amnesty - going to CB the week after Christmas and trying to figure out the best way to do the lift tickets. The Epic pass won't work because some of those days will be restricted days. We will only ski 3 or 4 of the days we will be there and I doubt they will be consecutive days, but the CB site tries to sell you consecutive days when buying a 4 day pass. It also says you can get refunds for any unused days if you request before 5pm on the last day of the pass.

Should I just buy 6 day passes and get a refund for the unused days on our last day of skiing? Do they scan your ticket every day and know if the days in-between went unused?

I called and talked to someone at the ticket office yesterday and the guy was nice and friendly, but also seemed a little overcooked and he couldn't really answer my question.

Talk of British drinking reminds me of this bbc 2 doc I watched a while back on the culture around drinking there. I suspect your friend would get along well with a lot of these folks

I really enjoyed this, thank you for posting.

I do business with a lot of people from London and they really take it to a whole different level. It’s such a central part of their culture. I’ll be spending a few days with 15-20 of them next week at an annual golf trip and it’s always shocking how many “units” these dudes put away in a day. I stopped trying to keep up a few years ago, it was a hopeless effort that made for some really awful 8 am tee times.

I've gotten the "this is the dems fault" comment a few times. I eventually settled on "you should look up the word "majority" in the dictionary."

I’ve heard this too. My response has been

    - Who put forward the Motion to Vacate? Who agreed to the rules that allowed one chucklefuck to introduce the MTV?

They can come at me.  That CJ-7 broke all the fucking time.  It was only 7 years old when I bought it and the paint was already faded down to the metal in spots.  I would buy one if I could get it cheap.  But for $20k or more, that's a hell to the fucking no.  I'll go get an FJ40 for the same money.

Some family friends had an 86 CJ-7 that they let us run around in was in high school. I got nostalgic a while back and went through the same process you did. Crazy what a clean one goes for.

My pops bought a 79 CJ-5 for ~$2,500 around 2002. It ran good but had the typical Jeep bugs here and there. He put $1,500 into it and sold it 4 or 5 years later for $5,000.

It looks like the CJ-5s aren't quite as much as the 7s, but they are also older and have a popcorn fart for a back seat.

It would be fun to have one to run around in this time of year though.

They refuse to talk politics with their kids and in-laws and just break out with the "both sides are crazy" talk whenever we bring something up. They could never support the Democratic Party as lifelong WASP Texans in their 60s even if they sympathize with things like Gay rights and hate book banning. It's just not even in the realm of possibility for them no matter how shitty Trump and the rest are or what horribleness they bring to the country because it's not what they do.

Same/same, except it's usually "I'm just so sick and tired of ALL of them." Both of my parents have a gay sibling but that hasn't stopped them from continuing to support the loons. It's damn hard to de-program 30 years of Rush Limbaugh's bullshit being injected into the brain.

The inspector did a great job to his ability.  Showed me issues and told me it was out of his scope to evaluate and recommended i call an engineer to evaluate the structural repairs.  I just wanted more info to see if they were small problems we could have the seller fix or major problems.  The more licensed pros that took a look, the clearer it was for me to pass on this home.  New roof, brick veneer, , new windows, and completely redone interior makes it look like a brand new home without a scratch so it’s very deceiving for someone like me who doesn’t know shit about construction.  When we sent the termination contract, the selling agent was basically begging us to list items for repairs and they would take care of all of it,  she said, we can fix all the hardware and missing knobs.  I laughed… the entire work in the attic looks like two dudes from Home Depot just started hammering 2x4s to hold up the roof.  The structural engineer was shocked to see it.   Those skinny beams are all that’s supported that roof.  They covered big fractures in the foundation by putting epoxy over it in the garage.  Painted over fractures on the exterior.

Damn, that looks so sketchy. I think every house I've ever owned had support struts running at an angle between the ceiling joists and rafters. And I don't see enough joists and the rafters look pretty far apart too?

What a shitty situation. I'd report them to the city too, maybe it saves the next potential buyer from the same heartache.

Anyone else spend an unreasonable amount of time and credits tinkering with their ship?

    That's hot.

I'm not at a high enough level yet to be able to improve my current rig. This is a pic from the internet and not my actual ship, but I'm level 24 or so and got this earlier this week for completing the Rangers quest line.

I joined the fleet and have been messing around with those the last few days. I'm still really enjoying the game. I did read that you keep all of your unlocked skills when you start a 2nd play through and I've thought about just racing through the main quest to start back over and unlock more skills quicker. I think you lose all ships/weapons/outposts, etc, so it might be worth starting over once before digging into all of that?

It's definitely illegal to be working on the mountain when not employed by the mountain. That said, there are lots of former instructors that bootleg for former clients, but it's not really instruction, it's more of a status thing for the clients that the uber wealthy do. They are just sort of a buddy that takes you around on the mountain.

Finding someone off the street to teach a group of complete newbies isn't a viable strategy. Nobody wants to lose their season pass.

Yea, it's not something I ever would have considered for sure.

    Okay, this attack is dumb.

Every single person fights the tax appraiser to pay less taxes.

Every single person sells their home for loads more money than what the tax assessor says their property is worth.

That being said, saying your condo is 30,000 square feet while it's 10,996 is plain fraud.

That's my thought too. There's no need to embellish this shit, it's plenty fraudulent all on its own.

More examples of blatant fraud that no reasonable person could ever consider an honest mistake:

    Quote

Another example, according to the OAG, concerns Trump’s golf course in Scotland. The Trump Organization purchased the property in 2006 for $12.6 million. Trump’s 2014 financial statement valued the property at more than $435 million—a return of nearly 3500% in eight years. Given that no cache of oil was discovered on the property in the interim, it is unsurprising that the OAG alleges that some underhanded accounting was at work.

According to Trump’s financial statements, the Trump Organization had received planning permission in 2008 for “a residential village consisting of 950 holiday homes and 500 single family residences and 36 golf villas.” Only the 500 single-family residences would be available for individual purchase—the rest were to be short-term rental properties. According to a 2017 appraisal commissioned by the Trump Organization, 557 private homes would result in a net present value profit of £16–19 million ($18–21.5 million). Yet the undeveloped land was valued at more than ten times that amount in Trump’s financial statements.

Even when they actually had an appraisal instead of just vibes Trump still couldn't use a plausible value.

This all reminds me of a Trumper cousin I have. He's always saying things like "Look, I don't necessarily like everything the guy does, but it doesn't look like they have anything against him..."

Me: "91 felony counts in four cases. Not counting his rape trial."

Him: "Yeah just not seeing the evidence...."

If the evidence isn't talked about on Fox News or mentioned in their Facebook Echo Chamber of Bullshit, did it even really happen?

    (No. No, it didn't happen.)

Trump Burger is still far and away the busiest restuarant in belleville save the belleville meat market, not that this is an apples to apples comparison.

It's hard for me to explain the shame I feel that this shit is in my hometown. (it's not really that hard)

It's Bellville, btw. And the Bellville Meat Market is a treasure.
