The Duratracs are better in the slushy stuff, but they have very weak sidewalls. K02 are basically the opposite. Great in the dry and probably the strongest sidewalls on an A/T.

K02 have been great in southern Utah and Big Bend.

Both are Load Range E LT tires.  How would the Duratracs have such weak sidewalls?

Opinions are like assholes but I like the Michelin LTX A/T2s.  Good bite on a slimy boat ramp or the two track leading to the deer lease with absolutely zero road noise.  I am a big fan of the Michelin LTX series overall.  As long as you rotate and document the rotations the warranty is really strong.

If you were looking for something more aggressive I plan on putting a set of Goodyear DuraTracs on my weekend Jeep Wrangler when the current BFGs run out.  Wrangler guys seem to love the DuraTracs as a crossover tire for daily driving and wheeling.  Just some thoughts; I am not a tire expert.

Yeah, leaning towards either KO2s or Duratracs right now.  I want the Snow & Ice rating since we're in the mountains a lot and the Michelins don't have it for some reason.  And I want something a little more aggressive on the LC.  Love the LTX M/S2 that we have on the wife's SUV.  They are great tires.

From what little I've read, there's a lot to be intrigued about when it comes to an electric pickup (monster acceleration, tons of torque, lots of storage space, all kinds of device charging ability, fantastic towing capability, etc., etc.), but the one thing that really worries the off-road inclined commentators is the fact that the battery components are all located down low . . . close to the road, the dust, the dirt, the rocks, the WATER, etc.  So the housing for the battery/electric system had better be impregnable or there will be problems with taking that vehicle off-road.

But if they figure that out, the low COG will be great for offroading.

Got a pic of my Tundra doing its truck thing this weekend 66e450c183d94f376ca9dd13ecffc00c.jpg

Just picked up a set of those rims to put on the Landcruiser.  Should be a nice upgrade over my stock wheels.  Now I need some new rubber.

  5. What year is your release? This year?
The brand is owned by Luxco. They source their bourbon from Heaven Hill. Luxco “relaunched” this brand a couple years ago with the new bottle and packaging. The 10 year was tasty good. Maybe the bourbon they purchased for this years release was not as good. Either Heaven Hill did not have enough to sell, upped the price on the good stuff, or Luxco decided to spend less. I have no idea.
Just bought it 2 weeks ago. Nowhere near as good as last year's release.
  6. Either my palate has changed, or RY10 isn't as good as it used to be. Not really liking this bottle that much. I loved the last 2 bottles i had. Maybe it's just a bad barrel. 8b1b0648a71f800a1bdbb61bc7c21a50.jpg

Austin snowed when I was on campus at UT.  I wouldn't buy/equip a car based on conditions that apply to 5 days a year but YMMV.

Then stay the fuck off I-70 in the winter.  It's stupid fucks who aren't prepared for the weather that fuck up traffic for everyone.

And we get snow a lot more than 5 times a year in Denver.  It snowed here yesterday and was slick as shit until it warmed up a bit.  5 or so times a year is when it's really bad out.

  8. My 230hp Landcruiser gets 14 no matter where or how I drive it.  It's amazing how far engines and transmissions have come that my wife's QX80 weighs 700# more, has almost double the HP and gets 16-17 mpg.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. We ended up booking Crested Butte. I hate crowds and I especially hate waiting in lift lines. That's one of the things we love about Telluride, which I would just go there every year, but the group likes to have a change in scenery every so often.

Just spent a few days in Telluride.  Probably my favorite spot in CO.  Just too damn far from Denver for me to go there regularly.

Denver winter climate are mild, and dry/arid.  That's not opinion, that's its climate classification.  It has a shitload of sunshine in the winter months.  That's statistics from years of data.

If you want to see real wintry climates with ice, slush, and piles of snow, there's a million places I can show you that's a bigger challenge to drive

Yeah, I have lived in Denver for over 40 years.  I know what the climate is.  But there are several days per year where the roads are shit.  Unless you can hunker down and not leave the house on those days, that's what you're preparing for on the roads, even if it only happens 3-5 times per year.  Same goes for the mountains.  If you're going to partake in the winter outdoor activities that Colorado offers, you need to be prepared to deal with the worst conditions on the roads even though most of the time the roads will be dry.

    90% tires, 10% drivetrain configuration.

awd is great if you need to drive UP an icy, snowy slope.  or if you have issues fishtailing it during acceleration.  meaning youre starting from 0mph.

the REAL problem and the real danger is not being able to stop, or not being able to turn on the move.  and that comes down to tires.

SUV is good because it has clearance.  throw some appropriate tires on it.  sandbag the rear if thats not enough.

if you drive in the metropolitan area, absolutely no problem, especially since snow doesnt really stick in denver.  even if you drive out west on 70 it gets tons of traffic so stuff gets compacted down.

Lulz.  Snow doesn't stick in Denver and I-70 in the mountains is compacted down so it's not bad?  I'm guessing you used to live here based on your username, but this is terrible information.

i've tried on a couple of occasions to mix family trips with fishing. it's always been a disaster. when my fish brain is engaged, i just can't think about anything else and trying to toggle back and forth between angler and dad/husband goes haywire.

reading what i just wrote, it's clearer than ever that i have a problem.

Yeah, I was kidding when I wrote that.  A family fishing trip would be a shitshow for everyone involved.

Without a doubt.  My wife gave me a rash of shit the other day after I got done talking to my buddy organizing this, saying "you get so much more excited for trips with your friends than you do with your family."  Well, I really didn't know what to say, but certainly in this case, I couldn't argue with her.

Tell her that if the family were to plan a week of offshore fishing on a kickass boat, you'd get excited for that as well.  Then duck.

Leases are the same as buying new with 100% financing and trading it in at month 36.  The only difference is you get a guaranteed buyback price.
