I'm grateful that the guy I go through doesn't even bother throwing the weekly-chiro-forever shit at me.  I'd turn it down, but just the fact that he doesn't play that card makes me respect him more.

His theory is let the work speak for itself.  In my experience, it has.

This is how the good ones will operate.  It's the shitty ones that push the bullshit on you.

  2. Boon,

In my experience, there are 2 kinds of chiropractors.  The first is the snake oil salesman who wants you to buy his supplements/essential oils and come back every week for adjustments.  Stay far, far away from this one.  The second kind is there to help fix what is hurting you.  Once you're fixed, they will say to come back if you start hurting again.  This is the one you want.

I've been going to chiros on and off for probably 25 years.  Fucked up something in my back helping a neighbor move in high school.  The pain didn't go away for 2-3 months so I finally went to a chiro.  After a couple visits, it was fixed.  And now, I have issues probably 1-2 times per year where I need to go see him.  When I have an issue, I go in and in 1-2 visits I am good to go.  Usually I sleep wrong and my neck gets all fucked up, but sometimes it's down between my shoulder blades as well.

Whoever mentioned a massage prior to going to the chiro, that is a good one as well.  My back muscles get so tight that I can't be adjusted without some kind of relaxation/massage.  My chiro has one of those muscle stimulation machines that he puts electrodes on your back for 15 min to loosen you up.  But if he didn't have that, I would need a massage prior to going.

Find a good one.  It's 100% not snake oil.

Well the Cosmere won’t be “complete” for decades to comes there are still at least 15 and possibly as many as 30 more books total left to be written.  He might (probably will) add to some of these later but for now I’d recommend Elantris and Warbreaker (both currently stand alone novels, but still part of the Cosmere).  White Sands and the 2nd Mistborn series both still have a book waiting to be written and Stormlight has 2 pending as well but Sanderson works his butt off so honestly I wouldn’t worry too much about waiting he’ll put something out every year that will work it’s way into the Cosmere.

I bailed on my self-imposed ban on unfinished series.  Time will tell if I regret it as I do with Rothfuss and GRRM, but I'm enjoying the hell out of Sanderson.  Read Elantris and the first 3 of the Stormlight Archive.  Warbreaker is next.

Is Wheel of Time worth reading?  I know Sanderson did the last 3.  But 14 books is a pretty big commitment.

Hire two coeds to bathe me every day Coming to America style at my mansion near some sort of white sand beach.  Travel the world with a sugar baby and/or hooker.  Post more on Surly.

Shit, I've even identified my sugar baby.  Now all I need to do is buy a ticket.

She'd be incredibly expensive, but I suspect it would be worth it.

The wife thinks he’s gay, but whatever the case, there’s clearly something they are hinting at. He does like to be roughed up by his trainer.

i know this show isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but I’m still loving the hell out of it, and find it hilarious  Tom and Greg are a great pairing.

By the way, the actress playing Siobhan is way younger in real life than she carries herself IMO. She just turned 31 a few days ago.

I’m kinda thinking Sandy Furness and Senator Gil are somehow aligned, and Waystar Royco will be virtually worthless by the end of the finale (maybe the cruise ship thing gets out and cripples the stock). I know it doesn’t make sense for Furness to intentionally lose hundreds of millions of dollars, but he may want to destroy Logan Roy just enough (and has been pointed out by the detractors, the show doesn’t always adhere to how things would really work in corporate America). We know Gil wants Logan crushed.

Shiv is going to give the cruise ship thing to Gil.

Well,  my kids made the summit of Mt Elbert, but unfortunately got themselves caught in a storm on the ridge near the second summit on the way back down.  They crawled down off the ridgeline into some rocks and covered with a survival blanket with falling temperatures, hail, high winds and lightning around.  Since the weather forecast for later that afternoon was for storms the rest of the evening they kinda of freaked out and didn't think they could stay like that for another 8-10 hours.  They ended up punching the SOS on the spot tracker.

My drive home from visiting my father was interrupted with call from the Lake County, CO emergency management saying they received an SOS from Mt Elbert.  Not what you want to hear on your Saturday afternoon drive.  At about the same time I got one cryptic text from the kids says "in storm on summit, lightning" and nothing else.  We couldn't tell if one of them was hit or what.  LC Sheriff rescue was starting to gear up to send a couple of guys up to the summit to determine the situation and put a helo on standby if the weather broke and was needed.  After a bit we were able to get a couple of 3 word texts to transmit back and forth and were able to determine that they weren't hurt at that time and just didn't think they could stay there if the storm was all evening.    After about 45 minutes the storm let off, the skys cleared and we were able to get phone contact and find out more about the situation and they decided they would walk off by themselves.

They spent yesterday soaking at a hot spring and are headed back to Texas today.  I guess they have a pretty good story to tell about their summer trip.

Glad they made it down OK.  That is why most climbers I know watch the weather closely and will plan to summit before noon so they can be down before the PM thunderstorms roll through.  It makes for some early mornings, but keeps you out of harms way.

  8. A Weber kettle is not going to smoke as well as a WSM or BGE or offset.  It just isn't because it isn't designed to.  It sure as hell is not going to hold temp for 20 hours to do a pork butt.  A gas grill isn't going to be a good choice for smoking, either.

Capacity has never been an issue for me on my Large BGE.  I can do 4 pork butts at the same time, or 4-6 racks of ribs.   I'm rarely feeding more than 8-10 people and the BGE does this very well.  If you feed more than that, I would look at an XL or an offset.

I think the Navy Seal dude killing people every episode is leading up to them revealing he mercy killed his mom with that knife when he was little.

That might actually be worth it, although he's leaving evidence all over the place.

  10. I don't use TV speakers for any of the TVs in my house.  It's so easy to have 2-3 fronts and maybe a sub (maybe not) that why put up with the shit quality of TV speakers.

My home theater is a lot more involved (5.1 with a big sub), but even an 8" sub and 2 fronts in the bedroom is a huge improvement.

True, but those consequences could be happening in subsequent episodes.  He hasn't necessarily gotten away with it yet.

Yep.  In the moment, it is going to go down exactly as they showed.

Yeah I think I am leaning on getting a ceramic grill.  Was looking at some pellet smokers and while I am sure they cooked great it seemed kind of flimsy and I figured I would need it would need extra care from the elements for being electric.  It was kind of an apples and oranges thing though since the pellet grill wasn't really high end.

Looking at the Kamado Joe classic.  Seems to get the best reviews and is a little over 1k but it seems to be pretty popular as for the reviews.  Not sure what a Large BGE would cost me with everything needed though.

Large BGE retails around $900.  Add a nest (or table) and plate setter and you're good to go.  Might cost you $1000-1100.

OP, with a $1K budget and the description of what you want to do, go with a ceramic cooker like the large BGE.  I’ve had mine for 8 years and have never looked back.  Lights quickly and is very efficient with fuel.  Smoke a brisket, grill steaks, bake pizzas…  I think that the ability to roast meats is often overlooked – it’s one of its greatest benefits.  Easy to maintain temp, and with a computer (e.g. a DigiQ), you can literally set it and forget it on long cooks (though it's a moral imperative that you master your pit before turning it over to a computer).  Learning curve is not steep - YouTube and the thread linked below are your friends.

This. Right. Here.  You can sous vide and sear in a cast iron skillet all you want, but if you like the taste that only fire and smoke can give a steak, this is what you do.  And a serious second on that Chateaubriand - had it for the first time a couple of weeks ago and it was the best piece of steak we've had at a high-end steak house in DFW.

RE: the bolded, I left that out but agree 100%.  I roast a lot of meats in the BGE with the plate setter (heat deflector) in place.  Beer can chicken and roasts turn out fantastic on the Egg.

  14. I like the 30 minute delay because guys at the table (like Cada when he pulled off his al-in bluff last night) know they are going to get caught after 30 min.  Definitely changes the way they play, IMO.

How does an electric heating element not electrocute her when she got in the horse trough?

Because it tripped the breaker when she threw it in there?

    I thought the same thing.

  16. I love how the part of the reservation that is so desolate that those guys can park their van, do their thing, then they get killed, they come back and bury/burn the bodies at night and get rid of the van and nobody sees them.  Then the next day a survey crew walks right on top of the grave.  Gotta love it.

This show is losing me fast.  Don't think nekkid sister is all that (horse face) but damn, her body is rocking.
