Agree with the general point, but only as it pertains to all pro sports teams, not just the Texans.

But their stadium is the second best stadium in Texas to watch a football game live. The only better one is the Alamodome. I'm talking about actually watching a football game. Meaning sightlines, views, proximity to the field, acoustics, etc. I don't give a shit about fancy outside appearance, concessions, etc.

The Cotton Bowl for me.  Proximity to the field is great and seats angled vs everything squared in the Alamodome.

Mansfield Summit upset district buddy Colleyville Heritage 34-31 to earn a rematch with district buddy Red Oak.

Similarly Flour Bluff beat Victoria Something 28-21 for the second time this season to get a rematch with undefeated district champ CC Vets.

I must be reading something wrong.  You can't have three teams from a single district in the same bracket.

That Steven’s QB, who is just a sophomore, was better than I thought he was. He engineered two long TD drives, all though the air, before halftime, having to throw into a very strong wind. He’s going to be very good in two years. Final was Chaps 71-14. Next week is Steele, which is always to tough out.

    Steven's???

About a month ago, I was all, "How can there be a thread with people bitching about family during a pandemic?"

Yep.  I've turned the corner.  Friday morning, I get to drive to Nashville with my family.

    1. I just herniated a disc in my lower back.

    2. My SIL will be with us.  She's one of those "woe is me" types and will yap the entire 13 hours there.  She also has no inflection in her voice and sounds like Will Ferrell's voice immodulation syndrome character from SNL.  I can't wait to hear about her fur babies for at least half of the trip.

    3. We're now on about Year 8 of MIL having six months to live.  So, every visit is over-the-top and melodramatic. Her bright idea is for Dale (boyfriend) to take us all to Chili's.  (Nashville is currently the Covid Capital of the World.)  Just to be safe, she's going to stay home and have us bring her food back.

    4. All MIL talks about is how great Dale is.  If Dale is so great, then why are we on Year 4 of their kitchen sink being only operable with a wrench?  Oh, and I can't wait to hear the story (for the 10th time) about how Dale organized a walk out during a Billy Dee Williams appearance at ComicCon because Billy Dee had the audacity to charge $5 for autographs.  Yes, the guy is in his 60's and still goes to ComicCon.

For the record, my wife is in a far worse mood than I am.

I come here to read stuff just like this so that I feel better about my life.

So I am very proud of myself.

2 weeks ago i was making plans to visit my brother and his family up in Allen. i've done it every year since my niece was born in 2010.

Those plans hit a snag when Brother dropped this bomb outta the blue... our parents are going to visit and stay with him...

Normally not the end of the world... except my parents have gone full on conspiracy wackos since the election.   Like out of the god damned blue hyper-nutso.

I immediately tell Bro, I am not coming.

Some complaints and whines about my nieces missing me. but I didnt want to deal with the crazy.

at 2p today, my brother who NEVER calls me, calls me from his own home, hiding in his bathroom because he had just had a full on shouting match fight with Dad over the most basic political question....  He's convinced the parents are insane and all I can do is chuckle...

Thats the kind of fun I want nothing to do with.

Im quite happy looking like the grinch and staying home thank you very much. .

In the context of this thread all this represents is a massive missed opportunity.

The Beard Bros getting lost at the beginning ended their game and was inexcusable. How could a cab driver not get them to Louis Armstrong park? I didn't go back to figure out if they told the driver something wrong or not.

It's inexcusable to have a finale depend on competent cab drivers.  If driving is absolutely needed, they should be doing it themselves in vehicles that are in top working condition and that are easy to operate.

Yeah, the cab thing bugs me.  Why?  You're back in the States, why not have them drive?  Especially in the last leg.

Shame on the Beard Bros for not making sure up front the cabbie knew what he was doing.  With $1 million on the line, I'd go with something like, "We need to get to Louie Armstrong Park ASAP and there is $1 million riding on it.  If you tell us you know exactly where to go and it turns out you don't, we're going to come back to Nola without the cameras and kick the shit out of you."

Ok, maybe not, but you gotta vet the driver quickly.
