  1. On the other side of the spectrum, my small club is about to be relegated from the National League to the National League South. Torquay United was only two divisions away from Manchester City when I first picked the two clubs. Now they're 5 divisions away and headed in opposite directions.

  2. Yeah, that slide was absolutely terrible. Holt obviously measured the situation and decided against starting shit immediately. Must not have attended Odor's Offseason Pugilist Training Camp.

  3. If the goal is reducing sex trafficking and prostitution, reducing supply and demand by shutting down craigslist, backpage, and eccie will be far more impactful than arresting individual johns and hookers.

I think your entire analysis is discredited by this initial sentence. The part where you claim that shutting down sites will reduce not just supply but also demand betrays both a misunderstanding of economics as well as an obvious preexisting bias.

  4. It was deliberate from Milner anyway. The video from behind him shows him playing the ball with his left leg. Bad calls happen and obviously there's no fix involved or anything, but that was a bad call.

i'm not saying it's right, but i get it.  if it's 7-0 in the 9th with 2 out and a guy tries to bunt, i understand if the team wants to get snippy in interviews.

a lot of the media is ripping "unwritten rules" in baseball.  while some rules are stupid and some are not, this isn't one at all.  they should be ripping whomever thinks this falls under that category, not ripping the overall idea of "unwritten rules" in baseball.

Very true, as someone said in Twitterland somewhere, if it's okay to play a shift up by 7 in the ninth inning then it's okay to bunt against it.

yeah, i'm late to the game on this one.  if it's not a no-hitter up 5+ runs then what the fuck?  i get that a shutout is a great achievement for a young pitcher, but it doesn't count any more in the standings, and nobody knows who leads the league in shutouts every year.  the orioles are hitting like shit.  if i was a coach or a veteran, i would be encouraging anything that could stir a rally and wake up the bats for upcoming games.

really surprised so many twins are having the reaction they're having.

Doesn't matter if it's a no-hitter or a perfect game. I hate that unwritten rule just as much. Why the fuck should the defense get to overplay certain things and make a no-hitter more likely by shifting but the batter has to swing away? Why not just play all 7 fielders on the right side of the diamond in that situation?

It cheapens the accomplishment of a no-hitter or perfect game if the batter has his options for getting a hit or getting on base artificially limited by some stupid unwritten code. The entire greatness of a perfect game or no-hitter is that you have successfully defended 27 consecutive 100% effort attempts to get on base or get a base hit in a single game. If the last three outs are only 90% effort then it's not as special.

If a team plays an absurd shift with two outs in the ninth inning of a perfect game against my team I would hope the batter bunts. Actually what I would hope is that the batter turns around, looks the catcher in the eye, and tells him "if you pull that shit then I'm going to bunt."
