It seems like the December signing day has a lot of the top guys wanting to shut it down before football season starts.

That was predicted by recruitniks back in the late days of 2017. That's why so many recruits have already taken many of their official visits already... the whole recruiting cycle has changed due to the early signing period.

I am in favor of any religious person pushing back on the bizarre overlap we have these days between Christianity and guns.

Historically, and as late as late 1800s, popes were also kings and went to war pretty much all the time. Popes have historically had no problems with guns and weapons-- most wielded them, themselves.

Bible in one hand, weapon in the other. How do you think most of the world was converted?! lol

  3. ^ pretty much confirms that Jimbo and staff had decided this was going to be their last season at FSU and were in the "kiss my ass" mode.

certainly interesting reading, and the psyche of the over-the-top fans (of any of the big brand schools) is kinda funny to see through those posts... everyone gets defensive about "their" team and "their" players... sometimes, to the point of being blind even after its clear to the rest of the world that they weren't all going to make it to the NFL.

What about online Turks?  Or Greeks?

Dang it, i can't add more reactions today!

And as a resident "Aggy" speaking for myself, I'm certainly into Poles, online and offline-- the blonde ones are hawt!

For UT fans, the ideal (realistic) landing spot for Gunnell is probably Arkansas.

And I think Perroni is the one that keeps mentioning possibility of Okrahoma State...which is fine by me (similar to how Arky would be best for you guys). Either of those places works...hopefully he can't make waves at either that would affect/effect/defect either UT or A&M, as the case may be.  I know folks here are expecting Arky to beat A&M this year due to the Chad revenge factor, but I think that might not happen.

Gotta be referring to Higgins and Gunnell which is fine since we can deal without Higgins and we aren't actively recruiting Gunnell. If we win this year, and assuming we pick up some other high level wr's, i would rather us not circle back to this guy.

Instead I hope this serves as an example not spurn the hometown team and this is the last of Ohio State pipeline from Texas. When we beat them in 2022/2023 (if not before in CFP) I want to see his tears.

So with Gunnell URBN will get to bitchslap both UT and A&M in one go. dang it.

still hoping Gunnell doesn't end up there. He may not go to A&M (after that DMN article quoting him, that seems more certain now than ever) but hopefully he doesn't go to OSU either. May be oSu...

Don't they have underground tunnels built on campus cause it's to cold to get out during the winter? Yeah... good luck with that.

    Are there any other kind?

    Just checking!

edit: Undersea tunnels (like Chunnel)... but that wouldn't make any sense in Blohio...amite?

  8. Yea, from what I can tell there is definitely a bigger Longhorn blogosphere and information channels. Most of the A&M sites are honestly not readable due to very poor writing by the owners as well as the most regular posters; most of them also seem to have little to no sense of humor, or know sarcasm... good bull hunting being an exception (but they don't really cover recruiting).  I guess twitter has ruined this stuff...

  9. Is there an A&M version of surlyhorns that tracks what the beat writers in College Station are covering? Honest question. I always appreciate the free stuff that sarva and others post here from time to time, but this year it seems there are many recruiting targets that don't overlap between the two schools so may be there isn't as much interest in the recruits the A&M sites are talking about or that coaches are supposedly visiting.

    I generally like it when

you chime in. But when you do, there’s always a caveat. The real world of “douche”, so to speak.

Okay, I can see how that can come across like it. I meant to simply juxtapose two recruiting styles since Jimbo's not being on social media came up for discussion just this week.

Look at it this way: Carrington (sp?) has been just as successful with his swagger sushhh  approach. And if anything, his online antics have gotten under the skin of some opposing teams' fans.

  11. Apparently A&M also hosted (is hosting?) a 5-star 2020 DT from Mississippi; not sure that visit was widely advertised either.

After getting the Sopsher brothers to visit, this is another top D-line talent visiting. Sumlin's staff never seemed to be able to get the top level OOS talent to even come for all expense paid official visits, nevermind unofficial visits on the recruit's own dime.

The staff is an upgrade over Sumlin's guys at least as far as recruiting goes. Anyone can beat The Chief taking offseason off, for one.

As for linebackers, they did get the 5-star from NC to visit as well. I don't have any $9.95 subscriptions so I don't have any insider info, and was surprised by the PA linebacker committing during his visit. May be he has been worked on, in the background, by the coaches. Kinda how Leal family was getting to know the staff and establish a relationship while on nobody's radar.  the real world "shushhh", so to speak.

Demetric Warren put in a flip pick for LSU LB commit Zach Edward's to aggy.  3*.  Seems odd if this does happen for a LB to flip from LSU to aggy.

Just got a commitment from a LB on unofficial visit all the way from Harrisburg, PA.

Another 3* JAG, I'm sure. Although this one had an offer from the only, premier, in-state, B1G flagship university program...

Lane Kiffin's staff at FAU is full of tremendous recruiters - he and Baby Briles are two of the best in the game. He's still only pulling in mostly 3-stars and rounding his class out with 2-stars.

At a higher level look at Oregon with Taggert and Cristobal - two 100% elite recruiters. Still almost all 3-stars. The brand matters.

I'm not saying it doesn't matter.  And the further you move along the spectrum toward the extremes, the more relevant it'll become, as in the case of a school like FAU.
