  1. My response was more pithy in it's approach, but I would disagree with you. While there's only about 10 teams who are real contenders this year, I would say that within 5-6 years (extension tenure) there could be at least 20 teams which may have years of being real challengers, not necessarily winners but actually have a realistic shot. The Cowboys haven't been a real championship contender in 30 years and won't be until Jerry is dead. But all of that said, he just wants what he's earned within the construct of the NFL and NFLPA's compensation structure. Pay the man his money and let's get on with things. That's all he wants.
  2. To actually win a championship? But, he does have to play his role..... He was hurt last year but his stats were still as dominating as ever with pressure rate, double team frequency, double team effectiveness, efficiency of pass rush, etc, etc, so..... yea, he's still a top 2, maybe 3 pass rusher in the NFL. He's the best player on the team.... trading the best player on the team means you need to be in a total rebuild. We're not doing this.... yet. Pay the man and stop being the biggest dumbfucks in the NFL.
  3. I think we may need to start him there with Hoffman next to him and then work Guyton in. This was.a big TC for Guyton. Dude needs every rep he could get. Reportedly, he looked much better this year, but who knows. OT, CB and Safety are probably are weakest positions. DT, RB, and LB next. Cowboys have had a few injuries.... Brevynn Spann Ford has an ankle that should keep him out 2-3 weeks. He was trying to cement the 2nd TE spot. Thank goodness, we have a 27 year old, 2nd round drafted TE to pickup on those depth pieces.
  4. And..... Micah basically shuts it down. Rehab only and will be at meetings and such. I actually respect him for it and it highlights how backwards the Jones' are with their roster retention and salary cap management. It's tough to really challenge for a championship when you have bottom 5 management and ownership. They just are so behind everyone else, it's punishing the fanbase.
  5. In her defense, most posters in this thread are basketball dopes, particularly regarding the women's game. I put myself in that group, while I try to educate myself, I don't follow the sport that intensely. First, it was a unbelievably stupid comment, but apparently it didn't have the biting avarice which most are assuming. It was a really bad joke about some of the Fever girls, of course with Clark, having partied pretty hard the night before and therefore were hung over and not at the meeting. That said, why say anything? Plum is a good, if inefficient, player but she's also known be the antithesis of mensa. A silly player telling a stupid joke which destroys the broader reason and message they were intending. It was another misstep and self inflicted mistake. I don't think there was much (maybe a little) biting nastiness to the comment, just an unbelievably stupid moment by a tone deaf player, who probably needs to rethink her tack or just stick to the script....
  6. Special Sunday Hook Em'!!! RB train continues to roll....
  7. And for those who were vexed with Wesley being traded away, here's your 2nd chance!!! Wizards, a team devoid of good players, didn't even give him a real look. Interesting. Gotta be able to shoot these days.
  8. Very fair. I still stand behind my assessment of the curiousness of the search to solve this position. It's been weird but hopefully Blue and Mafah can make a big difference. And here we go..... TC has begun.
  9. This isn't how you do it...... The Cowboys RB strategy has been strange, to say the least. Not spending 3m on Dowdle, waiting until the 5th to pick a COP, not having anyone of consequence in UFA. We all know, RB is probably the easiest position to find someone off the garbage pile, but they seem to making this a personal challenge.
  10. Shooting matters if you can't do it.... As you stated, you get pretty open looks in summer league unless you're creating bad shots (which a lot of guards and wings do by forcing it). Jones-Garcia can play in the league..... maybe as nothing more than a Patty Mills or Jaren Jackson off the bench, but his defense does need to get better. Harper has to find a jump shot, but his ability to penetrate will carry him next year like Castle. Gotta get much better shooting in the first 3-4 years. It either happens or it won't usually. Bryant has a ton of work to do. He's 3-24 on FGs in Vegas. 1-12 from 3. In today's NBA, you have to be able to hit 3's if you have almost no offensive game and rely on defense. Who's the last guy who was OTB defense only? Tony Allen? That was almost 10 years ago since his prime. I'm with you on Minix but he does understand the game, has good instincts, but he's a rotten athlete and will he shoot well enough to ever make any impact, because that's his ticket. 8-16 from 3 in Vegas and he's rebounded pretty well too, but he doesn't do much with the ball.... just needs to be able to knock down open looks. Not a great passer.... as a wing, not a great look. rest of the team are jags...
  11. I'm pretty sure she was Kat Grant, a gossip columnist for the paper and often written as a rival or competitor for Clark's affections for Lois. One of the characters I referenced given no development, not even anything to do other than be basically an extra. Beck Bennett's Steve Lombard, the guy freaking out in the ship is the same. No real reason to be in the film other than a little fan service to the hardcores but given nothing to do nor anything teasing an actual personality. It's like the film cut 15 minutes of banter at the Daily Planet. The movie wastes Perry White too....
  12. Feels a bit like we've had him our back pocket and we asked him to pull the trigger to get some momentum back, but i could be totally wrong.
  13. Oh.... and I'll say this. Don't waste your time on the after-credit scenes. They suck. You can get them on twitter and save yourself 10 minutes.
  14. I love the guy..... I wanted the Spurs to trade back in the first and take him. He can be a really nice big off the bench and eventually develop into a really nice starter. His skillset at his size is very rare, even if his athleticism is only average.
  15. 6.5/10. It's light, goofy, and..... a bit cartoonish. I love GotG, it's one of the top 5 comic book adaptions ever, but this is much more like Suicide Squad in quality. If you liked SS a lot with it's tone, then you'll like this. Some of it really works - Mr Terrific is.... terrific. Olson, Guy Gardner, and Lex especially largely worked. Other characters were glossed over or never even really introduced. Some of the gags got old and some of the jokes fell flat but Gunn works to try and give his 3 leads personality. David's portrayal is probably my 3rd favorite out of the movies and frankly the costume totally sucked for me. But for others they may like the retro flavor. The music is good (always is with Gunn) and there is some fun to be had, but it's not a great superhero depiction and I have a feeling it may not age well either.....
  16. He has a really good story, he's been an offensive weapon everywhere he's been including having a great senior season at Memphis. His achilles heel is defense, probably because he wasn't asked to do much, but he can score. If he continues to play this well, I think you have to give him a 2-way contract. He's running into some bad decision making the last couple of minutes, but maybe he can develop into an instant offense guy off the bench. Jaren Jacksonesque.... There's Bryant with a block. Fun guy.... reminds me a little of Rodman (not as good).
  17. He's fun to watch in his love for defense but he fouls so much.... He's so raw. He needs minutes, not hanging out as the 12th man on our roster. Harper is very crafty getting to the rim. Typical rookie guard, a lot poor decisions but his ability to get to the rim is impressive. His J needs some polish.
  18. Immediately becomes our best 3 point shooter. Exactly the type of guy you can play pick and pop with off the bench and can play both post positions. He's 34 and I'm going to assume the Spurs did their research and good teammate. Only really had to give up a 2nd round pick and deep bench guys who's current major attribute is they're young.... and coming up on 2nd contracts. If Olynk can continue to shoot at 38-39% clip from distance, this is a really nice low key move. At this stage of his career you really only need 12-15 minutes from him. Should get a ton of open looks. Decent rebounder (not great), but actually underrated passer. Scouting report from an old friend:
  19. I just don't know if he'd be interested enough because of the minutes..... how many could we possibly offer him? Young player on the rise.... I'd welcome him.
  20. Well, lucky for you two, Clark's team plays Plum's team tomorrow on NBA TV tomorrow evening. If you want to watch basketball tomorrow, even if Clark is unlikely to play, then you could educate yourselves on Kelsey Plum. Hint, Plum held the record for mo st points in the NCAAW game which Clark ending up breaking. Enjoy learning!
  21. But they seem to be enjoying doing it. Beware of a crazy man with intention..... They want to compete so if leveraged to blow it up, they'll play hard ball and he'll cost a fortune.
  22. The Kornet Kontest!!! 3 year deal with team option. 10m is a lot for a bench big man, but that's the going rate for being tall these days. Reportedly a great teammate.
