  1. I decided to fill in all my missing King by reading in publication order and quickly added Carrie and Rage which were both good. I'm trying to decide now if I want to read all the short stories or just stick to the novels then circle back to the short stories later. I'm guessing that would hurt my Dark Tower books 3 through whatever I haven't read yet.

I see a lot of sad posts about losing restaurants we went to as kids, or years ago, but when was the last time you or anyone you know stepped inside a Red Lobster?

I know I haven't been in one since the early 2000's.  They used to do an all-you-can-eat king crab legs on specific days for like a month or two.  We'd go in there and fuck that up so hard.  But yeah - an easy 20+ years since I've eaten at Red Lobster.

    Yeah I would guess 2008

What will be interesting in all of this is that Raisi was the most likely to succeed Khamenei with the Foreign Secretary being the next man up for president.

Two of the top hardliners died and even though the state doesn't want to admit to it, it will have a major impact on internal politics in Iran for years to come. That is a pretty serious power vacuum, and all we are is the death of an old man from having a much more sympathetic revolutionary environment for the Persians.

I thought that Khamenei's son was tan, rested, and ready.

    Finally confirmed.

    Now I can share this.

42 years ago my grandfather (along with two friends, a husband and wife) was executed by firing squad on the orders of a freshly appointed 21 year old city prosecutor, Ebrahim Raisi. My family is not Muslim, and my grandfather's death was ordered after he continued to refuse to convert to Islam.

Wayyyyy better man than me. I think I would respond with something like,

"What do you mean? I've always been a Muslim. Some say the best of Muslims!"

I just moved back here recently. It is bad. I happen to live in one of the very few blue areas in the whole fucking state. I actually like our little area right in the middle of OKC. However, the rest of the state can take a flying fuck. Those primary ads between Cole and that douche bag who actually lives in Texas are about to drive me crazy. Between just watching live TV for sports and the weather, I think I see one of those ads at least 20 times a day (some days easily over 50).

Does Tulsa have some blue areas too?

Shoot, I was just thinking there was too much English and not enough español on that sign...

Yeah shit the good place near us has "potatoe" in their translation attempt on the menu and I'm sure as shit not going to point out their Quayle.

The problem is their location.  They left the WAC for CUSA before it collapsed (or left Division 1) and their location is just not good enough to get an invite anywhere else (and their athletics aren't good enough to make up for that).

Is El Paso that bad? It's certainly an out there destination but they have a metro pop of 865k (Juarez is another 2.5 million people but they don't watch UTEP sports) and an easily accessible airport. That seems good enough for the SunBelt/MWC to me? I think it's more about the AD than El Paso itself.

Well, there is that thing where some kids don't want to major in engineering.

For real, the wife and I make 3x the average household salary from our region with degrees in History and Spanish. Sure, plenty of people want more than what we make and can get that with STEM, but you can also live comfortably with whatever degree interests you (which isn't @HookEm 's point but still worth noting).

Maybe we weren't looking the right place, but the food options seemed super generic.

They were selling Indian food behind our section (102), but it was a special one off for Asian Appreciation Night or whatever. We ate at the Mexican place across the street instead of eating in the stadium, but the food in the stadium looked pretty bad....and also wet.

Do Salt Lake City and Portland

Tentative plan is San Diego next year depending on schedule, but definitely want to hit those two up.

  11. FC Dallas has some cool giveaways including free beer and whisky samples in the stadium, but the atmosphere was certainly Friscoish. People were nice and the stadium itself is much nicer than the last time I was there a decade ago. Of the MLS stadium experiences I've been to it goes:

    1.) Austin FC

    2.) Sporting KC

    3.) FC Dallas

    4.) Houston Dynamo

Hopefully I'll add another this summer but damn this team is still frustrating.

  12. Is there anyone on the Chester side of Chester's vs Krispy Fried for gas station fried chicken? I ate at the one that was in La Grange a ton growing up when we traveled down to the coast to see family.

I'm not so sure. I feel like he could tell you to do something and then you could just pretend you did it and he wouldn't know the difference.

First post. He's been here a while.

"New poster, long time lurker from Llano TX I feel much better about Christian Jones being on this roster with banks and Campbell to come 🤘🏼 Just signed up for burnt ends"

Maybe he's the actual Confederate statue on the square in Llano. He might be relatively enlightened, and we are over here judging him.
