Just got a text from the coach. Every kid must wear a cup. 9 year olds. Is that common now to require one?

I made my kid (now 9) start wearing one when he caught, but he quickly started wearing it all the time after he got used to it.

I can't remember how the movie ended.

Bruce Willis was dead the whole time.

My youngest went 2-3 with a single and double (lined to center field) some RBIs, 2 runs scored and two outs at second base (4-3 ground out, and a 5-3 ground out). Kid is only in his second full season (8U coach pitch) still in developmental league. Gonna try and get him some camps this summer I think. He’s my most athletic. anyhoo, great Saturday for sure! Here he is at the plate the pitch he lined to center ...

Respect for the Swingman pants.  My son's team switched to double stripes this year, so his pairs are relegated to practice now.

  3. That's pretty much right.  He's quietly a poor rebounder, he's pretty loudly a poor defender...especially bad on the perimeter but in the post his "success" is just size related.  Guys that can match his height have success (Bamba worked him in Austin).  Can't shoot, worse off the pick and roll and De Sousa, who's so raw it's insane.  He can dunk over undersized front lines.  Good luck in the NBA with that as your only plus skill.

  4. As bad as the Royals are, I think we're getting to the point where the value is getting sucked out of fading them.  You're going to be laying a lot of wood backing mediocre pitchers, and they're probably not QUITE as bad as they've looked.

also, real quick question - because i had similar questions about pied piper the compression algo the last couple seasons.  i know hooli is huge and evil and whatever, but they don't own the internet, right?  richard keeps acting like this will be a free internet instead of confined to all the regulations from the current internet (always referencing hooli).  in real life, yahoo/google/microsoft can theoretically screw with their search results, but they can't keep a website from being a website reachable from the regular internet, right?  this isn't an attack on the show, this is a legit question that i just don't understand.  are the octo-pipers going to have their sites/apps/services available on richard's internet and not on the current setup?  seems like a pretty shitty business strategy.

Hooli is sorta like AT&T, controlling access and some content.  Having (and motivating) users to be tied into their centralized, served up internet...essentially the internet we have today in real life.

The decentralized internet would theoretically render their servers farms obsolete and cost them subscribers, essentially kill the company.  Gavin thought the patent that Richard/Pied Piper now have was impossible, because his experts didn't have distributed compute power then.  Mobile devices and Pied Piper's compression performance have made it possible, so they're trying to build a business out of that.  It's probably not solving a real-world equivalent problem, but it's a pretty clever plot device for a tech geek show.

I agree with everybody else, nowhere near the bar itself for itself, but I'm not going to stop watching.

Bottom of the 14th in Oakland, tied at 11. James Shields is your new pitcher of record for the White Sox...2nd career relief appearance. A’s warming up 2 guys for a possible 15th. Only one of them is actually a pitcher.

And only the 2nd longest game of the night. Twins/Indians to the 15th in Puerto Rico.

I really enjoy a hopdoddy burger and they will cook them rare to medium-rare which is a big plus, but the fact that dipshits will snake a line out the door like they’re waiting for franklin brisket makes it overrated and a prime candidate for this thread.

That's a pretty good description of Hopdoddy.  It's good, and I like it, but my max line tolerance is about 5 minutes.

  9. I've only lived here since 99, so maybe I don't have enough runway, but how can Flores ever be considered overrated?  I've never heard a single person describe it as good.  I like the Strait Plate and Margs at Maudie's, but that's a good entry.

Z Tejas is probably my #1 for this category.  As the restaurants have gotten better around here, the level of love has diminished...but that used to be an OMG you gotta go place.  I've never gotten it.

He missed the most important part of a self-immolation protest, which is that people actually see it happening.  A jogger coming across a charcoal body doesn't have quite the same impact as a guy burning alive in real time without making a sound or moving a muscle.  This guy endured a lot of pain for literally nothing.

Didn’t you read the note? It might serve others.
