See this ALL of the time and it bugs the ever living shit out of me. You see entire benches leave before games are done but no suspensions ever. What love was doing was so dumb

This, along with players inbounding a ball who take small baby steps. That's a travel every fucking time

Leaving the bench a few seconds early to go to the locker room or shake hands isn’t a suspension, right? The rule wording is specifically around leaving the bench during a fight.

  2. The pace stats have been startlingly consistent since Shaka has been at Texas...the 2017 team played a little faster on offense but that's arguably attributable to turning the ball over all the time, so I'm not sure that was the intent.

  3. I don’t have a dog in the fight, but Texas played slooooooow last year...316th nationally in tempo. So, evaluating the defense with raw PPG is a pretty poor way to do it.

i do think the defense was good last year and think it will be again.

Agree, next year's Jayhawk roster looks stacked on paper.  outside shooting I guess might be a weakness?  who knows on the freshmen

Baylor will be better next year.

The backcourt is young and the best perimeter defender with the only real game experience at Kansas can't shoot.  So there are question marks.

    Lot of talent, though.

I have an app called 21 teacher that I always use on the flight to Vegas to relearn proper strategy. It has the typical chart you’ve probably seen, but can be modified by applying the rules you see in your casino.

How much does it change the odds for the Wynn rules of “you’ll get 6/5 and like it”?

Wait, there are people out there that think this year's Cavs are better than last year's?? Based on what? I know that Golden State probably isn't as good as last year's version, especially if Iggy never gets right (though Houston's defense deserves more credit for making the Warriors' offense look vulnerable), but Cleveland is not a good basketball team. Last year, they weren't particularly good defensively, but they were the best 3 point shooting team in the league and were absolutely unstoppable offensively. This year's team is very, very stoppable.

Even defensively, they finished 2nd to last in the regular season THIS year and are currently a decent 7th among playoffs teams--but they've played offensively challenged Indiana and Boston and scared shitless Toronto.

Yeah, that's crazy.  Last year the Warriors were a 3/1 favorite to win the Finals series, this year they're 10/1 and climbing.

I want to hate Acie but I can't. He hit an absolutely astounding buzzer-beater against the Horns with someone all over him that still amazes me.

He hit a buzzer beater to win in Allen Fieldhouse against a very good KU team, too.  Might have been the first of the Texas/SWC teams to get a win there on that shot (if my memory is right).

Hell it's under a touchdown now, it's bet down to OU -6 already.  OU hasn't covered -6 in the RRS since 2012.

Well, there you go.  6 makes a lot more sense than double digits.

I only wish Jimmy V survived so we wouldn’t have to keep hearing about his annoying overrated ass.

This one should be popular. Jimmy V week is basically a time where we show enough respect for cancer that we pretend he wasn’t a slimy douchebag.

So I think Shaw was the general consensus on the last board for Austin - right?

The idea of a daughter sounds good, but I am done.  I feel old as fuck and we just got out of diapers.  The idea of another baby sounds fucking terrible and we already defeated the pill with the first kid.

Anyone have an idea on how long it takes to get back running?  I had an ankle problem earlier this year and am just finally getting my mileage back up to where it was before.  Most pages say 7-10 days, but 3 months off and I am going to need some diet discipline.

Shaw is awesome. You’ve had worse teeth cleanings that a vasectomy from him.

I get a kid as a hat pick at end of draft, 2nd year of 12U. show up to first practice. he's never played baseball before at all. ended up with  4 real hits for the season and between that, walks, HBP, errors, he was 6th in OBP on the team. the kid wasn't afraid to take a pitch. He doesn't play again.  I'm in the stands 4 years later at a high school football game and he comes up to me and says "Hi Coach".

My son is 9 (first year of kid pitch) and has finally stopped having the insta-reaction to get out of the way.  Stood in and took two like a GD man this weekend (one against a kid that threw pretty hard) and tried to turn into one other inside one.

    I was bursting with pride.

Part of the complicating factor is I think many villains will assume I don't have the ace when I just call instead of raising the turn.  So then the question is, if he has it, what is he hoping I call with?  If he doesn't have it, how often does he think I have an ace, and what does he think I will do with it to his jam?

With your preflop raise, if he's got A-6, A-Q, or A-8 (gross), he might be hoping you have a boat you "can't fold".  A couple would be in your range and follow the betting pattern...Q-Q, 6-6.

Without a really good read, I think we're beat and have to fold.

When Mrs. South Austin and I were newlyweds and actually lived in South Austin, we would often walk to Suzi's.  There's been better Asian food in town since then, but at the time it was about as good as you could get in the area.

    Same Suzi's as Anderson/Shoal Creek?

I think that we are doing autopilot wrong.  Too many external things going on.  Relate it back to flying.  Flying/corrections are fairly simple (I will admit all of my time is in a Cessna 172), it is the landing and taking off or handling some unplanned problem that may occur that requires a bit of activity.

I think what we should be doing is having autopilots designed for our interstates, not cities.  Take Rt 95 here on the east coast.  I can drive almost the whole east coast on it.  Basically you would dive up to whatever exit number you are getting on and plug in (voice/screenpad) what exit you want to get off.  It then takes over and ques you up to get/merge on to RT 95 and then drives you to the exit programmed.  It takes you off at the exit and then you either take over or it places you into a spot waiting for you to wake up or turn off facebook/NSAA.  Anytime during your trip you want to change your destination or get off and get a snack, you take over (just like current cruise control) and no big deal.  I think sometimes that we want to run before we are walking with this technology.  Do this first on Rt 95 or 81 or 64 out here (or whatever the equivalent is in other places).

We're not really doing it wrong, the technology is just in its infancy.  We're currently carrying around cells phones that look like briefcases, but we'll eventually get to the smart phone.  The city driving stuff that we're struggling to solve mostly applies to interstate driving too, we're just very early in the learning/implementation of figuring this stuff out.

What thermometer should I get. 2 probe?

Also I did my first cook today. Just did a quick my strip. It was amazing. I probably cooked it about 45 seconds too long but the crust was amazing.

Supposed to some burgers next week. A little worried about overcooking those but I’ll figure it out.

Baseball dads get super serious, especially when their little babies get beat. I was coordinator (commissioner) of our league this season. We had a few formal protests. These were not appeals during games about illegal bats - we had those and handled them in-game per our rules. These were formal protests. Our league rules make it pretty tough to protest, but that didn't stop these dudes. First, you have to notify the umpire during the game, then notify the opposing manager of intent to protest, and notify the scorekeeper. Then, within 24 hours, you have to file a written protest to the coordinator/board. We received written out, 4 page, authored by dads who are attorneys protests. Sooooo ridiculous. Each of them because something wasn't "fair" - which is most easily interpreted as "I won't volunteer any of my time to help the league but I will bitch and moan when my son's team loses to the Mexicans from the north side of I-10."

I'm a pretty serious dad about coaching my boy, and it's select baseball...so we're trying to win.  But the most important thing he's going to take from sports is handling adversity.  How in the hell am I supposed to guide him through that if I'm making excuses and protesting when he gets bet or bitching about balls and strike calls if a kid fans him (which happens all the time...dads are insane about this)?

  17. I liked Waterstreet that was in the building that's now been Sam's Boat for a decade plus.  That part of town had no options like it then.  You could do a decent piece of fresh fish and a wedge salad for like 8 bucks, and it was close to my office.

Still is actually but different office/company.

I miss Musashino's below China town on Mopac.  I know they've reopened, but the new location isn't the same.

Didn't even know it was closed, haven't been in forever.  That was the site of my first date with the wife, circa 2001.
