In my experience the excuses are 1) already had Covid 2) someone their sister's cousin's friend knows had a bad reaction to the vaccine 3) they haven't had time (bullshit) 4) they're conspiracy theorists and think this is some kind of global coordinated plan to depopulate the Earth...or something.

There are also plenty who still, after everything that has happened, believe this whole thing has been overblown and the virus is nothing more than a cold so why would they get a vaccine for it.

I had Covid, so I didn't rush out to get the vaccine...once it was plentiful enough that I wasn't going to take a shot from somebody that needed it more I got stabbed.  But I'm less concerned about people that had it not getting vaxed (even though they should).  There is good data that mRNA antibodies are "better" than natural antibodies, but if it doesn't show up in reinfection rate vs vaccinated infection, I'm not sure it matters that much.

The remaining problem isn't really those folks, it's the ones that haven't had it and won't get the vaccine.

  2. I make the Texas number 8 if anybody cares, so there isn't a play there for me.

Disclaimer: I'm good at college basketball and the NFL (and lately MLB but the track record is shorter).  If you've followed my plays here in those sports you shouldn't attribute any of that to college football, which I borderline suck at.

right now my book has KU 1.5 wins at O +180, U-220. I wont touch it, but given those odds i'd probably be more inclined to take the over. Lets say Leipold is a good coach (I have no idea, never watch Buffalo), can he find a way to beat 2 FCS schools?

We only play one FCS and the other two non cons are on the road...so getting to two wins is going to be pretty tough, it's why the under has been beat up to those prices.  If it gets north of +200 there is probably some value on the over.  You'd be expecting them to get the FCS win and spring a surprise at home among Tech, K-State, or WV...not impossible for 2/1.

This conversation is really depressing me.  Who needs a drink?

Did this for about a half dozen people in ATX.  They would initiate the deal, give me a basic schedule, and pay me straight cash homey.  Had 4 Indian girls who I drove to and from their gig at Yeti every day.  Picked up in the morning to go to work and then back home again at 4pmish.  $5 each one each way, so $40 for roughly 6 miles all told.

Best part was all the free Yeti gear they'd throw my way.

You might be the highest paid Uber driver in Austin.

  5. I countered one a couple weeks ago, the centerpiece of your trade offers were Scherzer and Buehler, but they didn't provide enough value in return.  So, I removed an SP whose use would only be matchup dependent for me and included one of the Toronto SPs and sent the trade back...by my numbers that one made us both a little bit better.  I didn't counter the other one (Diaz+ for Hendricks), because there was no way you'd take it.  Those guys are pretty close together skills wise, but Hendricks plays in a division with 3 dogshit teams, so he's got quite a bit more value fantasy value even with very little in real life.  The inclusion with Diaz was a waiver wire trash SP that I wouldn't even use.  I'd want a bat or better SP there, and you wouldn't (and shouldn't) do it...so there's not much there.

It's June.  People not panic selling to make your team better doesn't make them idiots.  My hitting is a reasonable example...between injuries and cold starts I was dead last in HR and RBI by a bunch.  It wasn't all bad luck, I didn't expect the run environment to be so muted, so in hindsight I'd draft hitters a little differently.  But spending Memorial Day selling off guys with track records for dudes with 120 good ABs would have been stupid, so I didn't.

Also, just going by product description, it looks like the cheaper one has "zigbee" radios for IOT/home automation things, while the Pro doesn't.  Don't know if that matters to you, and the descriptions may be wrong.

That's true, but JSB is comparing the new Eero with old Eero Pro.  The newer version (Eero Pro 6) is their flagship and has all the featured.  It's fantastic, but it's also $600, which runs counter to him trying to do it on the cheap.

  7. I haven't looked at anything, yet.  If you can get KU under 1.5 for even money, you almost have to play that.  Non cons are FCS, @Coastal Carolina, and @Duke so there isn't a sub 2 TD spread anywhere on the schedule for potential win #2.

To argue with myself...I don't know if I've thought about it enough, but it feels like super low win totals in a transfer portal world with instant eligibility seems riskier than in the past.  If KU finds a couple guys and some Buffalo players come over, there is a world where they're not THAT terrible and you're holding a sweat ticket.

Good to know. I'd still find it hard to believe it isn't more pronounced in Austin, though.

Everywhere has slowed down on drivers and wait times have gone up.  Orlando and Milwaukee in the last couple of months have been far worse than Austin or DFW for me.

Holy shit, yesterday I went to The Oasis after about 20 years of not setting foot there. What a shithole. Shitty overpriced food. It’s like the national convention of fat cholos and cholas was being hosted there.

Yeah, but it’s not overrated, because that’s how everybody rates it.
