  1. Labrana loses in a super tiebreaker of the doubles final Currently, I think Labrana is the best non rising senior on the team
  2. Seeing that Gittens is not strong in the 800, the title is Zamzow's to lose
  3. ITA Kickoff draft happened with Florida State, Vanderbilt, and Indiana coming to Austin. A bit surprised that Texas was not picked early. With the loss of four starters, I'd have thought that teams would want to test the freshmen. Even though the class is highly recruited, transition to the college game can be tough. Teams that were picked early were Tennessee and Mississippi State. Teams that others avoided were Baylor and UNC.
  4. Summer updates- Labrana is in Mexico. So-so results so far in singles (has played three tournies). Just made the doubles finals so will be taking home some hardware. Will be facing against a Mexican team consisting of this year's Vandy Number 1 and Baylor Number 2 in the finals. Turatis are in the entry list for the later part of the month. Anna is signed up to play in Tunisia and Bianca will play a 25k in Italy. Also ITA kickoff weekend draft happened. Texas was the last site to fill up. LSU, Tech, and Iowa. Tech has some pretty good recruits coming in and I think they can beat LSU. Teams really picked on Kansas as being the 'weak link.' Understandable as they're losing four of their starting six.

If anybody wants to listen to Coach Dave O'Neal and here more about the insights about the program, here's a link http://hwcdn.libsyn.com/p/d/a/a/daaf32c89b0d11f2/daveo_-_52319_3.26_PM.mp3?c_id=43225697&cs_id=43225697&expiration=1559536068&hwt=6d2185c2b09515f4362e84d2db0f9271
  6. https://247sports.com/college/texas/LongFormArticle/Texas-Longhorns-tennis-national-champions-Michael-Center-FBI-investigation-Lori-Laughlin-Felicity-Huffman-132366282/#132366282_3 A bit more inside information of what the tennis program has been going through the last 5 years. Still a bit incomplete as it glosses over the fact that the women's team had 3 coaches in the span of three years (actually 4 if we include the interim coach Klaic)
  7. Serena Has Literally been rolling along lately https://twitter.com/YsaBona/status/1131599351267110915/photo/1
  8. Anybody want to @Chrisdelconte on twitter?
  9. He got fired from Michigan for lack of improved results. Kind of think he was like a Connie...would easily qualify for the NCAAs every year but no deep runs, no conference titles, and saw another school totally dominate the conference (to be fair Michigan was really poor before he was hired there) I feel that he should be fine. Presumably, he already has a working relationship to the loaded blue chip class next year. Also has another blue chip recruit for the class of 2020. Let's see if he can find another international player like Norrie to sign over these next few years. Two of his Michigan players are still on the pro circuit.
  10. Articles are coming out! Center finally makes a statement regarding the team (gives credit to former AC Rubio)- https://www.statesman.com/sports/20190521/bohls-deposed-coach-michael-center-ecstatic-for-texas-tennis-title National Paper- https://www.nytimes.com/2019/05/21/sports/tennis/texas-longhorns-national-champions.html Local Wake Forest article (Coach says a bit of the heat and late SF finish played a role)- https://www.journalnow.com/sports/college/wfu/wake-forest-men-s-tennis-falls-to-texas-in-ncaa/article_21ed2952-acd8-50ed-8ef5-a1efece51a45.html
  11. Christian/Harrison lost in a close Super TB today...either way they will get All American Status for top 8 seed
  12. Petra lost 3 and 4 to Vandy's #1. Overall, I think it was a pretty good season for her. Won the Freeman tournament, conference line champion, got her first individual bid to NCAAs and even won her first round match, etc. Also was limited by being in a boot through the indoor part of the season.
  13. Oh wow in a long 2 hours match and the last match on court, Bianca wins on a point penalty after her opponent smacks a ball out of frustration well outside of the grounds- she was understandably mad and pure exhausted with the way Bianca was grinding (it's all good, they hugged at the net) Perfect record on the day for the trio
  14. Sigs actually lost something like 2 and 3 to an Ag
  15. Yep for a lot of the big Division I schools, coaches will travel quite extensively to junior tournaments- all the Grand Slams, Eddie Herr, Orange Bowl, USTA national events, Junior European championships, etc. These trips are actually in the recruiting budget. It's also important to build up a network of contacts who can recommend junior players who can't afford to play international tournaments. This is why coaches who are from abroad will have a leg up recruiting in their home countries. Ever wonder how Joffe (a former South African national coach) was able to get Poluta so quickly after he was hired so late? Also, Christian mentioned on how important that Soren had played at UT before. For the smaller schools, coaches use recruiting services to scout players. There's a whole section of YouTube with endless amounts of internationals showing clips of their games.
  16. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but wasn't King also a walk-on? I thought she was on some kind of an ROTC scholarship.
  17. Anna advances beating Whittle of Gonzaga. Whittle is no slouch- 8th seeded, won the ITA national championships in the fall, and was ranked number one for the early part of the year
  18. Great video recap of the journey- good crown, you can see the Turati twins in multiple parts cheering the team on, I also believe that Daniella Roldan (played two years before transferring) was also cheering the team at 0:14
  19. High school state tournament was last week: Future walk-on Gabby Cusano won the 6A doubles title. Other results with UT ties: Avery Zavala (brother of 2010 grad Josh Zavala) made the singles semis, unable to defend his 6A title from last year Kiana Graham (sister of recent soccer grad Nakia Graham) made the mixed 6A finals beating Keegan McCain (UTSA signee and daughter of former coach Patty Fendick McCain) in the semis
  20. Haha emphasis of 'ALL'. Roditi was a pretty good assistant when he was at Texas from 2000-2002. Instrumental in recruiting Antonio Ruiz (who went on to transfer to Georgia and win an NCAA doubles title after Roditi left). Also think he had a hand in getting Diaz Barraga and Miguel Angeles Reyes-Varela (currently top 80 in the world for doubles). Though it's hard to say 'no' to Berque right now. And I'm leaning towards Berque being hired right now.. Berque's best players at Michigan were Jason Jung and Evan King, and that was about it- not enough high quality players to hang with conference power Illinois. He was able to sign Cameron Norrie before he got fired (thus leaving Norrie free to go to TCU).
  21. LOL I think I could hear the Turatis cheering the men's team on today through the broadcast
  22. I actually like Sam Gore when he does volleyball.
  23. Just that I can show my receipts. He had only 1 Final Four team correct. NCAA tennis suffers when people like these are the public faces for the sport.
  24. Unfortunately these Tennis Channel announces know jack squat about the NCAA Watched the whole OSU vs. North carolina match and the whole time the male announcer (I assume Andy Katz) kept getting the winner's next opponent wrong. The lady announcer also pronounced Andre Agassi wrong. Plus if you looked at the 'expert' Andy Katz's draw, he had Texas losing in the round of 32 to Alabama. Laughably moronic. Anyways...great to see Telles, Markes, Goodwin, and Banzer end their career on this high note Wonder how much emotional energy Ito, Christian, and Scott will have for their individual tournaments (historically the winning team has a bad performance in the individuals)
  25. Wake Forest has a good number one and number two player but their bottom part of the lineup is a bit weaker - Scott, Markes, and Banzer must pull through
