How about you compare. Compare to any other military operation in any administration. Unless you're talking about a singular or final goal (like killing OBL, or obtaining the unconditional surrender of Japan), they don't use such insane hyperbole as this one (and even then, the statements are broader and not stated to be 100% self-aggrandizing. Obama didn't say "only I could have led our military to kill Bin Laden.")
Nobody has a problem with an admin talking up a military operation. Sure, it's what they do. The issue here is that 1) nothing this admin is connected with is ever anything LESS than "the most amazing bestest ever, all of history is now eclipsed by what we just did," and 2) the results have to be "complete and total annihilation/obliteration," saying it's anything less is TREASON and DISLOYALTY TO OUR TROOPS.
It was a good mission, well-planned and well-run. It likely had some real impact on Iran's nuclear program. They could say that, and it would be like every other admin in history.
When you minimize and normalize the utterly insane and abnormal batshittery spouted by this clownshow, you only beclown yourself.
Got it. So it all comes back to Trump like it always does. Guess I need to go look at Twitter and see what he got all the CR'ers fired up about today. I assume he's acting like a fucking buffoon like he always does. I could give 2 shits what that idiot has to say about anything. That doesn't mean the actual planning, coordination, etc. of the strike itself wasn't impressive. It's ok to appreciate the American military without feeling like you are supporting the administration you know. But yeah - I'll see my way back to the Stars or recruiting threads which can hopefully stay devoid of the rampant TDS that infects every fucking discussion on this board.

Nobody anywhere doubted it could be pulled off especially against the Iranian military. The issue currently is his and his minions' insistence on always having to be the bestest or greatest thing ever which is a complete insult to the people who fought prior wars against legitimate enemies in some of the most complex and tactical missions ever conceived and executed upon. Flying a plane into the desert and dropping some bombs on a mountain surrounded by goat fuckers pales in comparison. Sure its complex and well executed, but the puffery and comparisons are what are insanely unnecessary and idiotic.
Yes, quite the shock that the U.S. is boasting about a complex military operations. Never seen that before. Not like there aren't dozens of Hollywood movies dramatizing damn near every material military accomplishment this country has ever had.

Lol at thinking the logistics of all that was handled by humans. You give an AI parameters to plan and it does the rest.

Tactically, the mission was very impressive. Whether it was strategically wise or successful is up for debate.
Agreed. I mean particularly considering the context of what an absolute shitshow and worldwide embarrassment pretty much the entire Ukraine war has been for the Russian military. Israel with their first strike and then the U.S. with this strike still put the world on notice as to what a competent military can look like.

Coordinating the actions of over hundred aircraft with minimal to no communication over thousands and thousands of miles so that they all arrive where they are supposed to be precisely when they are supposed to be there is very complex. Doing so in way that will minimize the likelihood of detection while also including multiple mid-air fueling points even more so.
Seriously. Are people on this board serious trying to downplay an outstanding job by our military because of fucking politics. JFC.

Glad it worked out for both sides. Jamie’s obviously on the decline but he’s still a huge presence in the locker room.
Yep. Nobody is ready to take over Captain role yet. Hopefully can manage his minutes better next year so maybe he has more left in the tank for a playoff run. I think Jamie will be completely content playing whatever role is asked of him.

Instead, accuse the GOP of raping chipmunks, create fake videos of them raping chipmunks, and make sure they saturate every social media outlet known to man. Utterly stupid shit like that is how you win.
I don't disagree that this would be a more successful tactic in the age of idiocracy compared to embracing socialism.
To the poster above, it has nothing to do with this particular candidate or his particular platform. It's the larger optics of the "center of the universe" and home of Wall St potentially electing a self proclaimed socialist. I'm talking about national perception in this thread. Not local or specific policies. It matters because it is NYC (again, I'm sorry, fucking Vermont is irrelevant in every sense of the word). It's international news because it's NYC. It led the today shows this AM. And "far left socialists taking over America, just look at NYC" is a message that will resonate with swing voters. The entire point is that it's not a great data point when dems will have every opportunity to win back a ton of seats in the midterms.

Pray tell, what part of Kamala's campaign was far left? Or was it nominating a candidate who wasn't a white man that you consider far left?
When did I ever criticize Kamala's campaign or say she was far left. I think she did the best she could under terrible circumstances (i.e., last minute replacement not on a single ballot until the national election).

Dammit, now the Republicans are going to say we elected a Socialist in New York City. We're doomed. Doomed I tell I ya! Next thing you know we'll have a Socialists Senator from Vermont.
Yeah, the "Center of the World" is a tad more consequential than Vermont with a state population that is probably less than each borough. Nobody cares about Vermont. This made international news.

And hell, I don't know if it will win or not. But the Dems have tried the "be a middle of the road, rational party" route, and they've gotten their asses handed to them by a LITERAL narcissistic psychopath with zero governing principles other than "me me me," selling messages of extreme xenophobic hatred and dissolution of the Republic to install an absolute monarchy. It's been a completely winning message. So, we know what the winning path in America 2025 looks like. Might oughta try walking it.
They got their asses handed to them (i) replacing an old AF candidate that proved to be outright incompetent at the debate (proving out 2 years of campaigning on the issue by R's better than they could have ever dreamed) and then inserted Kamala without any primary, (ii) with rampant inflation the last 2 years of his term (which in my view was inevitable and not Biden's fault but the President will always get the blame) and (iii) after setting themselves up to be attacked on massive illegal immigration (tried to fix too late and were of course blocked by the R's so it became a campaign issue) . Take away any of those 3 and they likely win (and almost certainly take away either (i) or (ii) and they win). It took a trainwreck for the R's to win the last cycle. And 95% of this board was convinced it could not possibly happen right up until the election.
But sure, I'm the irrational with a hot take that socialism is not a winning platform in the year of our lord 2025 LOL. Again, most of this board lives in a fantasy world. But carry on.

Yeah it's pretty obvious democrats can literally not win with people like Skipper, so why even try. Fuck em.
I've only voted R for President once post Bush (Romney). I voted straight D last election on anything non-local. But if they want to move far left, that's fine, I'll sit and home and let the nutjobs on both sides fight it out. And I'm fairly confident how that will go. A lot like last cycle.

LOL. Never ceases to amaze me. Anyone that dares to stray from the groupthink on this board is a trumper. I'll leave you all to it but confident that every R (rightfully) worried about midterms views this as an absolute gift from a national messaging standpoint.

You don’t have to answer because you’ll get neg bombed if you admit it and if you don’t I won’t believe you anyways, but a) do you put yourself in this category and b) did you vote for Kamala?
if I were to guess, I would say that you lie even to yourself about being one of these mythical Americans and you would tell us that you didn’t vote at all but you actually voted for Trump.
Yes to both. And there are a shit ton of like minded people that would never vote for a socialist. I've already seen a few Democrats rejecting this nonsense because they know it is political suicide.

This is the same idiotic ideas that got Kamala doing town halls with Liz Cheney with a week left in the campaign. Be proud to not be Republican lite. Call Trump and maga out on all their terrible shit.
Cuomo was a fucking terrible candidate and got bitch slapped as a result. Bill Clinton, James Carville, Chuck Schumer want it to be 1995 and it’s not anywhere fucking close.
Good luck with that. Kamala trying to appeal to the center right anti-trump is the only thing that kept the election from being a bigger blowout.

I am a little concerned that the wrong message is gonna be sent by the far left with this Mamdani primary victory. They might think their messaging and policies is what the rest of America wants too, but NYC is its own thing and doesn't represent the rest of the country.
The message should be: Don't be scared. Vote for who you want to lead, not who you think will appease others. Shake things up and reject the old establishment. It can lead to a tidal wave of momentum.
This is the biggest gift Dems could possibly give R's heading into midterms with an unpopular president. In NYC of all places. Cue the fear porn about far left muslim socialists taking over the D party and it will be effective. The left on this board can cheer this kind of stuff on all you want but it kills you with the average American that may not like Trump but will never get behind socialism and pronouns. Tidal wave of momentum is laughable.

Seguin needs to play 82 games and score more than Duchene or that $9.85M on the books is gonna look super gross next season.
Oh it's gross. I mean it all evens out as he was underpaid for a while but tail end of big contracts always suck. I'll say, I'm reasonably impressed how much he has left after major injuries. He came back and played well way ahead of schedule. He's working his ass off at least and not just collecting a paycheck.

I expect Benn to take somewhere around $3M as his production and leadership warrant at least that. That "frees" up $6.5M for someone else.
Everyone forgets the Benn money was already spent on Mikko. We were WAY over the cap once fully healthy in the playoffs. Benn will be less than 3. Also, I don't see how we sign Granlund at this point. He will want (and likely get) $5MM+.
Also, not you but above, anyone complaining about term of the Duchene contract needs to focus on the AAV as it's great value. 82 points last year. He could have probably gotten 13 or 14 for a 2 year deal somewhere else. I bet he could have gotten 5+ AAV on a 4 year deal somewhere else. On a fringe playoff team or a young team that needs a veteran presence to take the next step, he would have been paid accordingly. He wanted to stay in Dallas and compete, so it's a deal that works for both sides. Worst case scenario we can buy him out of year 4 if productivity drops off. Great interview yesterday on the Ticket yesterday FYI. Highly recommend on the Sportsday App.
I'm guessing absent some huge move (a Robo offer we can't refuse), next piece of work is trying to see if anyone will take Dumba if we throw in a pick we got for Marchment yesterday, and if not, buying that out. That was a terrible signing last summer (and we all thought that was likely the case at the time). Can't win em all.
I think someone asked if any young prospects are expected to make the jump, I think there is chatter Hryckowian might be next man up to take a roster spot.

I thought MM had his best year in Dallas, because he was pretty good the first half of the season when he avoided doing stupid shit. Then he turned into the same old unproductive shithead.
I'm content with 2 low picks as the return.
Yep, had to move salary and get what you can. He hurt his regular season goodwill here for sure with constant bad penalties (and not much production) in the playoffs.

If Benn gets more that $3M-$5M/year then Nill fucked up. I suspect he'll take a considerable pay cut to remain with the team
I will be SHOCKED if Benn gets more than $2MM. Again, we have no $$$. I think people are forgetting Mikko is a $12MM cap hit next year and we were well over the cap in the playoffs once Seguin and Heiskanen returned. I think we currently have like $500K of cap space. You basically have to move some portion of Marchment/Robo/Lyubush/Dumba (buyout?).
Duchene signing announced today means that Nill has a plan, because otherwise, we don't have cap space to fill a roster.

I would be shocked if Grandlund is retained unless they are moving both Marchment and Robo. There is no $$.

Didn’t Benn make like $7M last season? He won’t get anywhere close to that in his new deal.He made $9.5. I fully expect Benn deal to get done last for whatever is left or for just whatever vet minimum is.

He needs to be making much less, and spending his time on the third line with Dutch
Duchene had 82 points last year. He's got a lot more left in the tank compared to Benn.

There wasn't a hire out there that was going to "wow" anyone. Most of the coaching carousel had happened before we fired Pete. I still blame Pete for putting us in the position with game 5 during and post game panic/meltdown (for lack of a better word). Obviously none of us know what all was going on behind the scenes so maybe it was a move that needed to happen regardless, but certainly wasn't on anyone's radar when we started the WCF.
Hopefully this guy works out - obviously now has a lot more experience since he last shot as a HC.
