Does the nhl schedule the conference finals on same day schedule, or every other?

East starts Wednesday even though both teams are set as of tonight.

would they start the west a day earlier if van wins tomorrow, or is it wed or even Thurs?

Every other.  I think if Van wins Sat we play Tues and if not then Thurs.

  2. Had to log on during victory beer.  Holy fucking shit what a game guys.  I don't think I've ever been as mad about a call outside of a handful of Texas football games.   Thank god Karma played out the right way tonight.    Great game by the entire fucking team.  Otter played out of his mind.  Benn - huge goal. Tanev, nails. Miro was Miro.  Marchment - won it the first time (was my #Bucciovertimechallenge pick for the record and first time I ever actually picked correctly), Johnston and Stank all over the ice, gritty 4th line was a gritty 4th line all damn game, then the Duchene winner and old man Pavelski digging it out for him.

The low key play of the game might have been Robertson laying the fuck out to block the puck in the 3rd period (I think). It was a hell of play.

I love this fucking team.  So pumped for more games at the AAC!

    LETS GO STARS!

Talk of maybe putting Bichsel in tonight. I don't think we can continue playing 5 dmen, that has and will continue to catch up with us

I mean I get they don't trust Nils.  But Nils has played in over 100 NHL games.  Bisch has played in....... zero?  Crazier things have happened I guess but that would be pretty shocking to me.  But yes - seems like someone needs to eat 9-10 minutes.  Miro logged 28 last game.

I can tell you if my wife saw Ring video from our front doorstep of some masked person dropping off a note in the wee hours of the morning, she'd freak the fuck out and wouldn't feel at all safe for quite some time.

It doesn't matter one bit what some internet message board dorks think about the level of severity of that threat, it only matters what the people inside that house feel about it.

It's pretty fucking embarrassing that the Cloak Room regulars are trying to fucking justify or play down this type of idiocy.  It's beyond unacceptable.   I'm sure they would have the exact same "no big deal" opinion if it were MAGA idiots showing up harassing D appointed judges or similar.

  5. Gave them life.  Frustrating.  That sequence that led to their 2nd goal was frustrating AF from what I saw (blatant pick, save, cross check, retaliation, massive flop).  Haven't seen replay other than limited in arena so maybe wasn't as bad as I thought.  But regardless, that sequence changed the game.  That being said, they completely outplayed us in all respects from that point on.   Good W for the Mavs at least.   Big one on Friday.

  6. Is it really controversial on this board that the employee was fired?  I saw the video last week.  It's a bad look.  Not an employment lawyer so not weighing in on all this first amendment talk but I'll be pretty surprised if he wins this.  I don't think first amendment prevents you from being fired for acting like an asshole on camera (unless you have contracted around that) regardless of your employer.

  7. Yeah, they would call it "day-to-day" whether he could go tomorrow or shelved until November right?  I know hockey always vague with injuries in the playoffs but pretty sure not the same level of disclosure obligations compared to the NFL.    I thought Hakanpaa would have been back 2 weeks ago based on what was said before the playoffs.

I disagree. Trump being a bully and generally un-presidential in debates in 2020 helped Biden. I think with no audience and the ability to mute Trump's mike, Biden would show much better in a debate. Trump is a rambling, stumbling mess right now, much more so than 2020.

Agreed.  High stakes for both.  If either thought they were a clear favorite that person would refuse.  But Joe needs moderate votes in bulk and agreed debate helped with that.  People that don't necessarily like Joe need to be reminded why they really didn't like Trump.

  9. Great game last night.  We sense they were wounded early and just attacked.  Then strong close out 3rd period to put it to bed without any issues.    Guess nothing about Roope yet.  Hopefully he isn't out long term.  He's clearly been battling something (or multiple things) for a while so hopefully just aggravation that gets better with some rest (particularly if we can close it out tomorrow without him) and not something new.

  10. I've barely been able to watch any of this series so far attending both stars games. But people on my text chain that never  bitch about officiating have been cussing the calls SGA has gotten.  Hopefully he doesn't get the benefit on the road tomorrow.  Look forward to finally watching.  Still so pissed the NHL scheduled Stars in direct conflict with Mavs.  At least staggered for games 6 and 7 if both series go long.

  11. Great time at the AAC last night.  Way too close for comfort and we have to figure the 3rd period out but good W.  Fuck the Avs and their bitch ass fans crying about that hit.   And maybe keep your head up if you are along the boards dumbass.

On a flight to Vegas for the weekend.   Let's grab game 3 and the series momentum Saturday.

To be fair, Makar is a defender (at least positionally - I think he's a winger who chose to specialize on defense) so he's going to be on ice a lot more. He just fires slappers from the blueline with such alacrity that he looks like a forward.

Whomever survives this series is going to see too much of Conor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl (no, I'm not giving Vancouver a chance). If you have them on your team, you roll that line as often as possible. If MacKinnon is on your club, he's on the ice whenever he can be.

If I'm Dallas, I'm reviewing tape to see if there's any way to slow down the Avs PP. Positionally, they just made scoring too easy. Being afraid to take penalties will neuter the Stars game.

Special teams was an absolute mess for Dallas last night in all respects outside of the 5 on 3.

maybe the numbers say different but their guys at the top are younger too and they can probably go longer.

it was a one goal game but man they are still faster and seems like better all around.  we need puck luck or bad goalie and Otter to stand on his head.

I said to my buddy right before the game started that I don't think 3 goals wins a single game this series.  Unfortunately that proved correct last night.   They are going to score a bunch and I don't think anything Otter can do about it except stop enough to keep it in the 3 range instead of the 6 or 7 range.   But that goes both ways. I feel like we had almost as many good opportunities last night as we did in Vegas game 3 (where we completely dominated play) despite the fact we completely slept walked through the 2nd period and more than half of the 3rd with virtually zero chances during that stretch.   We can absolutely score 5-7 against these guys if we play our game just like we did a few weeks ago in Denver.

It's about human nature and craving an identity and a tribe.  It's non-partisan and across ideologies.  Seriously, look at the people at Trump rallies.  It's tribal, because IT FEELS GOOD.  That's what we're seeing here, and what we've always seen about extreme ideological movements.

It's why I've at least gotten a chuckle out of watching our local right-wing bunch jump all over this as some sorta toldyaso gotcha.....when the extremists on their side of aisle have actually ascended to positions of power and control.  Mock the purple-haired Pro-Palestinian ideologues all you want....as you ignore the Q-anon/MTG/stollen election log in your own eye.

100% agree with this.  It's a bunch of losers without a social life and/or a group that wants to find a target to blame for their own self made problems.  And that applies to both extreme sides of the political spectrum.   Personally, I'm an equal opportunity hater.  Despise and deride both groups at each opportunity.

    but they're not a 1 line team 🤣

Yeah, I mean, I don't think Colorado is shying away from the fact they are top heavy.  They have probably the best current player in the NHL .  Of course they want him on the ice as often as they can.

anyone else feel like the mackinnon line is always on the ice?  I know makar plays a ton but it feels like their first line is out there a ton also.

Yes.  And I looked up TOI this AM to confirm it.  Their top line skated 25+ last night.

I think we got tired as shit last night. We just ran out of gas. Bring up Bichsel, sit Nils, and bring back Marchment (if he's healthy). We do that and I bet we destroy them next game.

Bischel is still 19 I think and from everything I've read probably 2 years away. I can't see any possible way you bring him into the NHL playoffs.   They just have to trust Nils and hope to limit the damage or do the same with Hakanpaa once he's healthy.  There is no way around it.   I do think Marchment could provide a nice spark if he's ready to play.  He was playing pretty well until he was injured.

We didn’t last night. He was fantastic in the late 3rd and OT when we actually decided to play hockey again

I haven't seen a replay so you all can tell me if I'm off.  But I thought 2/3 of Georgiev's goals looked pretty soft live (i.e., both other than the 5 on 3).  Then yes, he made some huge stops in the 3rd and OT although I feel like we had a carry over of the same 'finishing' issue from last series.  Hintz missed on a great opportunity.  Then on the Pavelski feed to Seguin - I thought for sure that it was the winner. It was right in front of me and I was celebrating when I saw the pass.  I couldn't tell if Segs just didn't get his stick turned to elevate or puck was bounching a bit or what but that seemed like as much of a missed finish as it was a great save.

For Otter, I'm not sure any of the goals were "soft".  Our PK was garbage.  But we needed him to make that one big save in OT and he didn't make it.  I haven't seen a replay of the winner yet  but it seemed similar to the breakaway in game 5 Vegas had with 1-2 mins left he stopped.
