  1. That was about as intense of a game/atmosphere as I've seen in that building.   Particularly with the ref fuckery the first 2 periods.   Live playoff hockey is the best.  Then capping it off with a big Mavs win was a nice touch.  I'm struggling today.

This is fucking hilarious.  Wow.   The views of a known disinformation artist are ok as long as I agree with his politics.  All without any of the self reflection that you might possibly agree with some of his views because he's a fucking known disinformation artist.

  3. That is a fucking risky move.  And feels like a bit of a panic move.  Cassidy could either look like a genius or a moron after tonight.  Remember when MN did this in game 2 last year and we ran them out of the building?  Hintz hat trick I believe

I don't disagree with this. The media and the political powers are certainly happy for the distraction.

It would be interesting to see national polls on Israeli support from around the time the Jose Andres aid workers were killed to this week after this debacle.   I think there was some real momentum after that incident that has pretty much completely been overrun by the news cycle coverage of the student protests.  Columbia, not Gaza, is now the current face of this conflict in the U.S.  The kids that actually do understand WTF they are protesting are too dumb to realize their actions are counterproductive.

You should be able to assess the reality of what is taking place without deflecting to the deficient messaging of children that don't have fully formed brains. Bunch of y'all motherfuckers need Jesus for real.

I mean, this is the national protest thread, and they absolutely deserved to be ridiculed for their idiocy.  And they are doing WAY more harm for your cause than good.  There is pretty much zero national coverage of the actual conflict or Israel's conduct. Instead, these idiots hijacking college campuses will inevitably lead the morning news for the 3rd day in a row.

anyway, does VGK have another gear? because I think the Stars do and if we really get clicking like we know we can, VGK is in trouble. We've won the last two ugly, but with overall very solid play and limited mistakes - something that cannot be said for games 1 and 2. I like the progression we are making, and I think we've been doing it since game 1. VGK on the other hand, seems to be playing the same game without much adjustment. HUGE contest tomorrow. important enough that I think whoever wins it takes the series.

I think the first half of game 3 was the best I've seen this Stars team skate all year.  They just weren't finishing at an elite level (and Thompson was making big saves) but other than that aspect, that is as good as it gets.   Games 2 and 4 were very similar.  The winning team was badly outplayed in the first period then turned it around in both.  Game 1 was just weird in the sense that they got up so quick, won special teams and 'won' officiating.   We were all so down (rightfully so) after the first 2 games that we tend to forget they were both kind of toss ups and Vegas just made one more play in each (we were slightly ahead on expected goals both games I believe).  Game 4 was the first game we got some puck luck + special teams advantage on our side.

To your point, we have yet to put it all together in a game.  Hopefully that is tomorrow.

Haven’t seen the video you’re referencing (would be great if you could post it), but I don’t think you will get much push back here that a UT professor ignoring a Jewish student attempting to participate in a discussion is a chickenshit move. Also, not acknowledging that Hamas is a terrorist organization. That professor should be publicly shamed if that’s true.

Unfortunately it was just a livestream.  I was doing a search to see if anydrama was occurring today and came across it and got sucked in for a bit. Will look to see if any video later.  To be clear, most of what I could hear was very tame but definitely not open to any discussion around the edges and the point about the IDF and APD was just WTF.  The audio wasn't great so maybe I missed some context.

But the minute "infintada" or "pro-Hamas" shit comes up on the West Mall, this thing needs to be shut down with extreme prejudice (no head-cracking, just clearing them out peacefully) as it's no longer simply support for the innocent Palestines in Gaza. (I also say this with full-on hatred of Netanyahu and what the opportunism 10/7 has given him to -- in his mind -- eradicate as many Palestinians as he can reasonably get rid of before he's told to stand down or else.)

This is a gigantic shit sandwich and is threatening to take our collective eyes of the real (and scary) issues that our country is facing if we allow it.

I came across a livestream a couple of hours ago and it looked like a "pre-protest" or overall discussion was going on of some sort.   Apparently led by 2 UT profs.  All incredibly peaceful and non-disruptive (no tents!) so no issue there.  A few items stood out in the 20 mins or so I was listening (until it wrapped).   There were some jewish students listening in as well that raised their hand to engage and they were ignored.  Someone in the crowd asked if she considered Hamas a terrorist organization and she said something like I'm not answering that and moved on.  Then, the kicker, for some reason she noted that IDF forces trained the APD.  First of all - is there any truth to that?  Second, no wonder these kids show up angry.  Zero dialogue or room for discussion of alternative viewpoints and then you tell the students "the enemy" is training the APD.  For what purpose? To get them riled up?  Disappointing for a UT prof but maybe not surprising.   It then panned over to the Jewish students getting interviewed by media after this session where they expressed their concerns about some of the rhetoric (and, by the way, praising the UT administration for efforts to help make them feel safe which gets lost in all of this).  One mentioned he had politely sat down next to this professor on campus to talk to her about some of these issues, but again, refusal to engage in any discussion.   So much for the free exchange of ideas and all that.

No, it's just you being dense and being fine violating rights because you disagree with the speech. Precrime isn't a thing. And it shouldn't be a thing.

Yesterday was not Precrime.  There was a rule.  It was enforced.   You are writing essays on whether or not that rule was "reasonable" and ignoring the reality which is whatever UT's interpretation of the rule was (including, Brisket's 10PM cut-off) it was getting broken.  You are just arguing for the sake of arguing at this point enjoying your first amendment hypothetical and missing your days in ConLaw debating with the other fucking gunners.

Yep and part of Biden and team's job as politicians is they have to pivot/adapt and continue to communicate to all electorates. But hopefully smart/competent people on his staff is thinking about the youth vote right now.

He panders to an extreme minority position he gives Trump all the ammo in the world to win back moderates or at least keep them from voting.

I mean, these were publicly announced as an act of solidarity with the other nationwide encampments, all of which were overnight establishments.  I feel like I'm taking crazy pills in this discussion, if I'm being honest.

It's just fucking lawyers being lawyers.  Getting everyone stuck in minutiae instead of focusing on the big picture or the reality of the situation because it suits their politics.

Really?  Because we allow portions of campus and other state property to be turned into a "tent city" with great frequency and regularity.  Or, perhaps you've never been on campus on a football weekend, with tents all over?  Now, all of those circumstances have a rule to protect the overriding interest of the state and the university to not be turned into a permanent/overnight encampment: tents can only go up at a certain time, and must be taken down by a certain time.  I'm sure that if you leave your tent up on a state lot after hours, and refuse to vacate, DPS will remove you and your tent.  But to argue that a blanket "no tents, ever, for any amount of time" rule is necessary to protect the interest of that public property flies in the face of the fact that we have a different rule when you're putting up a tent for the purpose of celebrating longhorn football.

A rule that says "no tents can remain after hours/no overnight camping" would make perfect sense, and would almost certainly be enforceable as a reasonable time, place, and manner restriction.  The fact that I can put up a picture of the university and state property covered in tents on other dates for a different purpose demonstrates that the university actually does not need or enforce a strict "no tents ever" policy.  Nor should it.  Because that blanket policy would be dumb as hell.

JFC Brisket. This isn't a law school exam.   If "the cops shouldn't have arrested them until 10PM" is the hill you are going to die on, fine.   But we all know damn well their goal was to push past the line in the sand and get arrested yesterday whether that happened at 2PM or 10PM.   There is exactly a zero percent chance they picked up their tent and went home at sundown.

Why is it our country's ills are always the liberals fault?

They aren't always.  They are at the moment.  1/6 should be playing on a loop this cycle for a reminder of the chaos that "team" creates.  Instead, the today show is leading off the news daily with this nonsense.   1/6 and Roe V. Wade is how you win a national election.  Not fucking radical left Gaza protests holding campuses hostage.

2002?  Really?  Again, did you pay attention to what happened in spring 2020?  Were facemasks BANNED then, or were they eventually REQUIRED?

Of all things can we leave COVID nonsense out of this thread.  JFC

I'm not fond of the no-tent "rule", but why not (and I know this is crazy talk) wait until they refuse to take down the few tents that were actually up?

Ummm.... That's exactly what happened yesterday dude.

if only the protesters would stop nonviolently breaking stupid rules. it's almost like stupid rules are put in place to be broken so those seeing the rules can mccabe some examples

don't yall see the protesters are making the cops do this???

If your position is Texas not allowing the South Mall to turn into a tent city is a "stupid rule" - I had to tell you that I'm confident you have an extreme minority position.

I saw what happened the last time a large group of people wearing MAGA gear marched on a building. We can't let that happen again, obviously, so we should start cracking skulls when they start to gather.

    Ok, I'm sold.

MAGA gathers on campus intentionally violating policy I would be the first one cheering on the police beating their ass and calling bullshit if they were treated differently.

Basically what I wanted to say but couldn't at midnight last night. Well put. The current alternative to a less-than-perfect Biden is terrifying.

Biden is lucky the election isn't this month.  Hopefully this entire issue is out of the news cycle by then.   Because the radical left is completely fucking him over at the moment.  If they don't show up and vote for him they are fucking him.  And by having these losers protesting lead off national news daily they are fucking him.   A big reason Biden won was he carried the college educated white vote and in particular women.  Are all these women still going to show up and vote when the face of the "other team" is campus takeover nonsense with a risk junior's commencement is cancelled?  Biden is doing absolutely nothing wrong but it doesn't matter.  People can put their head in the sand all they want but liberalism run amok is absolutely going to help Trump get back in office.

There was zero evidence of any substantial violation of campus rules last week when protected activity was violently stifled. I don't get how you just brush past that by saying "well, some stuff happened elsewhere." No shit things are more heated now AFTER what happened last week.

If you want to say the University jumped the gun last week, fine, but you all are living in a fantasy world if you don't think an 'encampment' was coming to campus if UT didn't act.  "Protestors" are trying to set them up all over the country this week.  You think this copycat tik tok generation was going to be content holding hands and singing kumbaya?

UT fucked up last week but I have zero problem with yesterday.
