I think he was in disbelief he dropped that far and had been living through an emotional nightmare for several hours on day 3 only for it to finally resolve. I think partially crushed, partially relieved, just a ton of anxiety relief/lots of emotions hitting at once. Pretty understandable IMO.

Put me in the camp that was surprised QE dropped as far as he did. I don't think likely he's ever a starter in the NFL but thought someone would take a flyer in the 4th or 5th. I think he can be a really good backup QB. You don't need your backup QB to necessarily go out and win games. You need a backup that can manage a game, keep you afloat and not flat out single handedly lose games if the starter is out for 2-4. Quinn can absolutely do that and durability shouldn't be as much of a concern when not expected to start 17 per year.

Looked like great games last night but I couldn't stay up for the 2nd OT of Carolina/NJ or either of the West Coast games after the late night at the AAC Monday. Had to catch up on sleep!

PSA: Duchene interview on the Ticket yesterday (can listen on sportsday app top 10) was really solid. Typically you can't glean much from athlete interviews but Duchene appears to be a pretty introspective and straight shooter in interviews. Solid listen.

A Belton high school student stabbed and killed another student at a prom party after being sucker punched. Jury came back today and only found him guilty of negligent homicide. Victim was also unarmed. Just sayin’…it’s not always as cut and dry as people want to make it out to be.
* I am NOT proclaiming this Frisco case to be self-defense.Not familiar with this. What was the time delay between the sucker punch and the stabbing? Negligent homicide seems like an odd outcome for a stabbing (not sure of Texas specific statute nuances). Compromise verdict or did it seem to fit the facts?

I've said for years now I think the networks screw this up trying to maximize complete game windows. I'm sure someone is making decisions off data but I'm convinced they are wrong. They should treat this like the NCAA tournament first round with staggered starts. Even in a 2 game window like last night, they should have scheduled puck drop for a little before 8PM CT targeting 2nd intermission of the early game. They should go to studio for a 2 minute recap then go to "puck drop" of our game on ESPN during 2nd intermission, have our game air on ESPN 2 until early game concludes, then it should work out where, absent OT, the early game would finish right as our 2nd period is about to start. So in addition to getting more casual viewership in central cities (only real 'fans' are going to stay up until 11:30 on a Monday), you might get more east coast hockey fans committed to actually finishing the late game. For example, I have a NYC client that is a big hockey fan that watched our first period but called it a night after that considering 2nd period would start around 11ET.
Also, for us locally, the late starts really hurt building fandom for the kids as they can't stay up for this. If we win, when I get home, I leave a rally towel and a glow bracelets (they hand out at playoff games) set to green outside my son's door as a signal that we won (and if not there he knows we lost). He told me he asked Alexa what the score was before he fell asleep and it was 1-0 so I'm glad Wyatt scored fast enough he got to hear that before dozing off LOL.

it's pretty obvious who is getting fucked
AGAIN
Edmonton is Mountain I believe. I feel pretty confident the latest start will be Oil/Kings.

Not sure when they'll announce those. Toronto-Ottawa will be the early game and LA-Edmonton will be the late game. I'm assuming another 8:45/8:50 CST puck drop for Avs-Stars until told otherwise.
Toronto/Ottawa is if necessary. That series could end tonight. If so, either Dallas @ Colorado or Vegas @ Minn should get the early start. I feel like more likely they will give that to Minn considering (a) they got f'd with a 10:15 local start game 2 so network probably owes them and (b) Colorado is Mountain time and that would be a pretty early Mountain start. But if it's just 3 games, not sure how they will stagger the start times.

I was watching on Victory and Josh and Razor mentioned it and you could hear the crowd. But somebody was blocking the in-box camera so we couldn't see what he was doing other than what they said. Was he holding his hand up to his ear or something like that?
Exactly. He went to the box, camera switched to a close up of his face on the jumbotron and crowd reacted, Bischel noticed and he started playing to the camera holding his hand to the ear and motioning. Bench started cracking up as well. Then they sent them down the tunnel and crowd roared as they skated across the ice. Really fun moment to close out the game.

Never said it was, my dude. Just laughing at the flopping you guys do. It's legendary.
Breaking news. Both teams try to draw penalties in an evenly matched series where the margins are razor thin.

yeah i like this bischel kid...
I don't know if they showed on TV but when they initially sent them to the box before sending them off, they put Bischel on the jumbotron and he played it up to the camera. Was awesome in the arena. Fun game. Really awesome crowd for a late Monday night game. Really hope we can come out and play our A game in Colorado Thursday as no doubt the Avs will bring everything they have.

Way too quiet for a game 5. You would think we are down 3-1. Let's grab momentum back tonight. Heading over to AAC area now to meet some folks for a bite and beer pregame.

Hellebuyck: "It's a best of three. I like our odds." He must be high or delusional. You just let in 12 goals in the last 2 games, dipshit
I still like your odds, but yeah, understand your dismay after the last 2. Blues have been on a tear and playoffs so far have proven how stacked the central is currently (and don't see that changing anytime soon).

Miro's out for tonight.
As for Makar, show me a clip and I'll give you my opinion. I was playing in a poker tournament during the game so I didn't see everything.
I don't know how to imbed shit but search Makar embellishment and it's out there. To be clear, he got hit (stupid play by Marchment) but sold the hell out of it. Yes, I saw Miro is out. Not really surprising but disappointing. As soon as I saw series schedule I thought game 6 was probably the target based on where reports had him at end of regular season, but hope he's not further off than we think considering magnitude of the game tonight.

I haven't gotten to watch much of the Jets/Blues and knew Hellebuyck has been bad but just saw has given up 15 goals against with 8 expected goals against for a -7 and worst goalie in the playoffs. Wow. To nobody's surprise Blackwood leads all goaltenders with 7 goals against with 13.65 expected.
-
Miro still out for tonight. My pre-series prediction was game 6. Hope I'm right and we get him back Thursday regardless of what happens tonight.

yeah, I let that one go the first time because it's a ridiculous statement. Kinda like the other night when Hagel blasted Barkov and got a 1-games suspension. Paul Maurice was on record saying something to the effect of "we only hit players with the puck." Next game Tkachuk levels someone - without the puck - and gets a 5-minute major, but no suspension. Point is, you can claim whatever you want, it doesn't make it reality. Makar is no goon, but he sure as shit sells calls.
The reality is if you are aware enough in the moment to process that it's Marchment trying to sneak in a cheap shot, as long as you sell it, you are going to get the benefit of the doubt and Makar sure as hell did. If the roles are reversed on that play it's a no call or a Marchment embellishment only. Marchment has put himself in a shitty situation doing borderline crap all season and now costing him/Stars in the playoffs.

It looked depressingly like G6 in Edmonton last season -- everyone just looked exhausted. Hope I'm wrong.
Think you are misremembering. We looked run down games 4 and 5 of that Oil series for sure but game 6 gave everything we had left and pretty much completely dominated the last 2 periods and just couldn't score. It was probably Skinner's career highlight game. As for this series, I don't know if it could have been combination of being content with a split + stuck in Colorado for 4 nights and altitude getting to us or just reverting back to shitty pre-playoff play or what but we clearly never recovered after giving up that shorty while Avs simultaneously hit their stride. I have no idea what to expect tonight but I'll be in the barn.

Avs looked as good a they have all season yesterday. Getting Landy back (and him being effective) is huge. This series might be 2-2, but the Stars have only led for 62 seconds in 4 games. I'm liking the Avs chances about now.
First 3 games were all played pretty even but Avs completely dominated game 4. Guess we'll see tonight whether that was more the Avs playing desperate and Stars happy to get a split or a sign of Avs playing to potential and Stars reverting to what lost a lot of games down the stretch without Miro. Obviously Miro a big wild card. He's probably either back tonight or Thursday but obviously TBD how healthy/effective he can be with that long of a layoff. I'll be there tonight and really no idea what to expect.
BTW - want to revisit your "Makar doesn't embellish" take after feeling contact and flailing across the ice throwing his stick 10 feet to draw that PP in the 1st? LOL. That was pathetic/hilarious.
-
Can't put lipstick on that pig of a period. Playing like we are happy for a split. Not even remotely matching their intensity. It's one thing to lose a game but that was unacceptable.

Marchment is sloppy with his cheap shots.
Oh for sure. Fucking Marchment man. Just a constant high ceiling low floor playing on the edge doing stupid shit or great shit.
We had several great solid looks before that shorty completely shifted momentum. Let's grab one back this period. Fuck playing for game 5. Plenty of time to get back into this.

Jets will win this series by pure talent, just remains to be seen how many games it takes
I'm probably too much into advanced stats in regular season + how damn good the Jets looked live a couple of weeks back, but they remain my pick. I'm personally rooting for the Blues to take it at least 6 in case the Stars advance so the Jets aren't too rested and have to travel back to St. Louis, but agreed, I would be shocked if Jets blow this series. Minn on the other hand my have something. Obviously the Knights are more talented than the Wild as well but Wild are healthy and playing well. I can't stand either team but considering Mark Stone tried to single handedly ruin the Stars season, I hope Minn takes them out.

You didn't trigger anyone. You are the Helobious of playoff threads. We all laugh at you. The caricature of the Boston douche we've all made fun of for the last 20+ years. Back to hockey.
