Occam's razor also said it's insane to think that the very group that made the crime of genocide "a thing" in global consciousness is actively and openly pursuing a campaign and goal of genocide, but here we are.

Is a mistake the most LIKELY explanation?  Yeah.  But can you categorically rule out a purposeful strike meant to terrorize (and thus limit) aid to civilians, in furtherance of an Israeli goal to maximize civilian suffering?  Nope. You can't rule that out.

If their actual goal is a complete genocide of the inhabitants of the entire region, this would still be an idiotic decision in furtherance of that goal. Because of the barbaric nature of the October attack, Israel and their methods were going to get the benefit of the doubt from a majority of the West.  I mean pretty much anyone that was old enough to be emotionally impacted from 9/11 will probably always carry some level of bias when it comes to conflicts with Islamic terrorists. And collateral damage can be explained at some level when you have terrorists hiding among civilians.  But the lack of civilian aid was already a growing narrative and now the high profile nature of this attack is going to make a lot of people that might have given the IDF the benefit of the doubt question WTF is going on.

The reality is a very small percentage of Americans pay as much attention to this conflict as those that read this thread.  But everyone that watches the news tonight will know about and remember this.

The humanitarian in me has to believe it was unintentional because the Israelis are supposed to be the good guys in all this. Still, as pointed out, carelessly killing aid workers (running count even before this is around 200) is emblematic of the continued disregard for international law and human life displayed by the IDF. And, of course, the cynic in me can't say it wasn't unintentional.

Occam's razor says it is unintentional because it would be an absolutely idiotic military strategy otherwise considering the need for western support.  The PR hit from this incident will likely be worse than a wayward bomb hitting a school and killing 100 elementary kids.  It's going to be a massive news story. Everyone knows Jose Andres.  Voters on both sides of the aisle go to his restaurants.  There are probably large donors on both sides of the aisle that donate to this specific aid organization.  Hell, Andres could probably request and obtain a sit down with Biden this week over this incident if he wants.  It's a high profile concrete example of what Israel critics have been saying about the way they are conducting this war that can't be easily explained away.  I'm not going to be surprised at all if we look back at this months from now and see this as a turning point in this conflict.

I think it was a horrible screw up. A screw up that was a result of Israel not being capable of completing their war goals.

This.  They didn't intentionally target a Jose Andres aid convoy.  Anyone in a decision making capacity realizes what a massive PR hit this is.  This will be mainstream news all over the US tonight.    If you want to say gross negligence by being way too loose with precision weapons and not having procedures in place to prevent this, I agree, but I bet heads are rolling within the IDF as they realize the ramifications of this kind of negative publicity when they were already starting to lose the PR battle in the West

Is Israel trying to completely get rid of all the goodwill and sympathy built up immediately following the Hamas attacks? Because they're doing a pretty good job of it.

Yeah, this is going to probably hurt their cause more than anything they have done to date.  Going to get a ton of negative publicity.  They fucked this up royally.

On that part of 75 that is lowered there really isn't a lot of space for a cop to stop and sit.  Everything is all walled in, yea there is a shoulder but it's thin and wouldn't think they want to hang out there.

For sure. Always thought they should post a spotter with a radar gun on the Northpark overpass (where the idiotic protestors post up from time to time) then have a partner sitting off the access road around Walnut to drive in and make the stop.  I rarely drive it super late anymore but even coming back from a Stars or Mavs game odds are you will have someone pass you going 90+.

I knew that was 75 the moment I saw the still image before hitting the play button. It's not uncommon to have 2 idiots flying through out of nowhere when you're on it.

He should get 10 years no early parole.

This.  I drive it almost daily from downtown to Walnut or Royal.  I see folks doing extreme speeds and/or racing multiple times per month.  I don't think I've ever seen a cop pull someone over for speeding or otherwise.  Hell, some jackass got a bit to close to comfort to clipping me while trying to pass someone going 90+ this AM as I was about to exit downtown.

Back in my younger days, I would frequently work in the office past midnight and drive home.  The number of drunks speeding and/or swerving was always unnerving.  Have never understood why cops just seem to ignore this stretch.

If I had similar issues with other streaming services I would think so too, nope just this POS. I think we know why they no longer play the schedule conflict games on the alt channel. Bally's managed to make us hate them even harder by forcing this half-assed attempt at an app.

App hasn't been too bad for me this year.  Way better than expected considering I had heard a lot of people have had issues.  I've needed to reset a couple of times and did have some freezing one game but overall has worked well.  I strongly prefer it to what I did last year (cancelling YTTV and going with FUBO).  I thought Fubo was god awful but stuck through it through end of Rangers season.   I don't know WTF I'm going to do for the rangers this year. I'll probably end up just paying for both at some point.

Not sure who I’d want to see in the first round. 1-8 are all pretty salty.

Agreed on this 100% although I would probably want to avoid Colorado of all the teams.  But Nashville has been on fire lately and we all know the Knights will end up magically get all of their LTIR players back completely healthy for the playoffs. Maybe all things consider you prefer LA?

Back to the division, I'm not surprised that Winnipeg has fallen off (1 point in last 4 games).  They are wrapping up a brutal stretch just like we went through in February. It started with a back-to-back 3/8-9 and they don't get more than 1 day of rest between games until after 4/1.  I haven't watched any of their games but seems like it is definitely catching up to them.

People poopoo Lewis, but that place was as good as just about any in Texas and their daily specials looked pretty fucking delicious. Sides were great. Minimal line at lunch. I think it's worth it if you're in the area and missing the meat sweats.

Agreed. It blew Rodney Scott's out of the water.  Was fantastic.  Maybe not worth it on a 1 or 2 day trip but would make time for it on a longer trip.

Or said another way, the bank probably thinks operating cash goes to debt service before it gets distributed to a trumpco account

It would.  It would clearly be an SPE account where the bank has control and even then likely several layers before it hit any "Trumpco" account. This isn't some mom and pop operation.   And the banks lawyers aren't morons.

What's cloaky in this exchange, exactly? We are talking about a Wharton statistics prof writing up bullshit stats in "news" articles, and snuff clips. That is solid DT material, esp the latter.

Was really referring to Mack's posting trying to draw everyone into a debate completely unrelated to news.

  12. Glad the Devils returned the favor by beating Jets as well. Jets are in the middle of the type of stretch we played through in February (including now a back-to-back Sat/Sun).  Hoping they run out of gas.  Although unfortunately who knows if the Avs will ever lose a damn game again.  They have won 7 straight and now have 5 in a row at home.

Haven't really watched any but I follow our results and record. Not asking for but I'd welcome a quick cliff's notes on the season and how we look going into the playoffs.

We can score with anyone.  2nd line has played like our best line.  Duchene has been a great pick up and Seguin/Duchene mesh well.   Otter has been inconsistent this season at best and flat out shitty at times.  Our defense is still shitty overall but hopeful Tanev acquisition will solidify things down the stretch/playoffs.   Incredibly tight race in the division with Jets and Avs.   Winning division probably more important this year than most (although outside chance that could land you a first round matchup with a magically healthy Knights if they keep fucking around).

We probably go as far as Otter can take us in the playoffs.  If we could guarantee elite goaltending it would be hard to pick against us against anyone.  Probably 10-12 teams that think they have a legit shot at lifting the cup.  Playoffs should be great.

very unfair assumption.  Sometimes the client refuses to listen, and at the end of the day we act at the direction of the client.

You're just going to have to trust me on this one.  Agent was some mid to late 20's jackass.   Ended up communicating with the Buyer directly and it was clear Agent had never relayed my clear expectations when I agreed to a reduced listing price.  The Agent just thought he could get the deal done.   I mean we went from crystal clear understanding of an "as is" expectation from my side and don't bother me with repair request unless you find something major to a laundry list of every single thing possibly noted in the inspection report.  It was just horrible deal management by that clown that pissed everyone off in the process and pretty much killed any chance of a deal. I believe they ended up firing him after that.

That filled in contract seems like all kinds of wrong.  At least car salesman don’t door knock (that I know of)

My wife really wanted this damn house. So just in case there actually was other competition, I definitely led him to believe I would be hiring an agent to sell my existing house, and that if things go well and we can close this deal, it might as well be him, so I used his shady demeanor against him.  Of course I ended up listing my prior house myself, then after a deal was on the rocks over repairs (largely due to another shitty realtor that refused to (i) explain to his buyer I accepted the offer below list on an "as is" basis and (ii) then counsel his first time buyer that not everything in the damn inspection report needs to be fixed) ended up renting it out and have been a landlord for the last 7+ years while the property value appreciated very nicely.  So on one hand, I owe that shitty realtor for forcing me to make a great investment decision.

I’ve definitely met some trash realtors.   Almost as bad as car salesmen

I made an offer once first home purchase and tried to mark up something in the TREC form.  It absolutely blew the realtor's mind and they told me I wasn't allowed to do that.  Mind you I'm doing this from my law firm email address.  I said something to the effect of your position is we aren't allowed to negotiate terms of a real estate transaction?  They pretty much just shut down and I moved on.  But man I've dealt with some really bad and incompetent realtors.  The last house I bought the dude was sleazy and incompetent.  He actually showed me a filled in contract with a listing price offer trying to get me into a bidding war. Extreme used car salesman vibes.  This was in a cooler market, in February, so I called his bluff and just made an offer at list less 3% since representing myself.  Sure enough it was accepted a few days later. I had to drag it to a closing myself as he was pretty worthless.

I've only worked with one agent I thought was pretty good and she represented the tenant on a lease.   She made it super easy on me while I was on vacation with my family.  So I decided not to deal with it the next year and let her list it for me and eat the commission.  Will likely do it again next year if I don't hire a property manager. So to the point above about good agent's hanging in there and making themselves stand out, I agree.

Yeah FUBO had it.  But IMO FUBO is a massively inferior product to YTTV.  I switched back to YTTV as soon as Rangers regular season ended and went 2-3 months with no Bally's but ended up just paying Bally's the $20/month direct for Stars/Mavs and will keep for Rangers.  I wanted to avoid that on principal but Sinclair is deep enough in BK that small growth in subscribers won't move the needle.

No streaming with the Rangers like Stars/Mavs, Bally's doesn't have the rights.

So your only option is shitty FUBO?  Fantastic.

Which RSNs should I be looking for? The Bally networks?
I have MLB.TV for my Braves and LHN/ESPN+ for the Horns. Everything else are local and various "general" networks (e.g. USA, TBS, etc).

Bally SW will have Rangers/Stars/Mavs. I am less familiar with the Houston RSN situation, but my Fubo last year (I live in FW) had the Astros on whatever they call it now. If you DGAF about those teams then it doesn't matter which service you choose.
