  1. Been meaning to catch them @jimmyjazz they usually end up on the same bill at other bands I like
  2. If you recognize the tambourine player in the DAIISTAR KEXP performance, its Lindsey Mackin from Annabelle Chairlegs which is such a great band...
  3. Would love to have a thread where we talk about new Austin music and bands. By that I mean recent bands... up and coming... lesser known... yes, could be a band like Die Spitz (cough cough @jimmyjazz ) or someone maybe newer or just making their name. Just really not something like old Austin music like Marcia Ball's latest release (sorry to Marcia Ball... just trying to find an older example that is not SRV). Basically a place to share newish bands with each other. I'm a big fan of going to shows like Free Week, Hot Summer Nights, random lineups at Empire, Far Out, Hole in the Wall, etc. (which reminds me I really need to catch a band at Friendly Rio Market) Bring'em on. I'm not big on country so you won't see that from me although I can dig some bluegrass/Americana live since I have friends who play in that scene. In fact, I'll lead with that... here's a few that I'll share. Pecan Street Preachers - friends with these guys. Dustin really only started playing and recording about 3 years ago and his friend Graham has helped him get off the ground. They started Pecan Street Preachers last year. Played Saxon last night and will be playing the main stage at Luckenbach in June. Anyway, a few others... Queen Serene usually plays places like Hotel Vegas, 13th Floor, etc. Big fan of their loud, fuzzy sound that is almost hypnotic Figure Factor - Trying to find more shows by them but I really like their post-punk sound. Saw them at Elysium - they were great: https://figurefactor.bandcamp.com/track/hip-check https://figurefactor.bandcamp.com/album/rituals-in-transfigured-tone Billy King and the Bad Bad Bad - went to one of their record release shows. Great band. Straight up rock. The Past Lives - Strong recommendation of seeing them live. First saw them at ACL in 2022. Knew nothing about them (most knew nothing about them) and they blew doors. Very dynamic frontman... great show. Being Dead is far from a secret... kind of has a California surf-inspired sound. Saw them open for Husbands at 3Ten and then caught them again at ACL last year. Great on-stage dynamic. Really funny and very talented. Grocery Bag. @jimmyjazz and I were messaging about them before catching them play a free show at Blazer Tag. Yes, Blazer Tag. Can't remember the full line up but I think it was Magic Rockers of Texas, Prehuman, Queen Serene and Grocery Bag. Saw them play a SXSW day show at Hotel Vegas, too. Loud and full of energy. DAIISTAR oh man I love the wall of sound they bring. Already signed with Fuzz Club and starting to tour Europe. So good and so loud live. I mean, when you end up on KEXP...

    2025 ACL

    Here to promote IDLES
  5. Have a great idea for an accessory...
  6. State will never do anything to fix it because they want the problem to exist so they can paint Austin in a bad light. I want to figure out the solution but I can tell you I will not be voting for higher taxes to do it. Enough!?
  7. It would definitely be a jump in, swim around... ha ha look at me... F this let's go eat!
  8. Yeah, I always wonder about doing a polar plunge because the water temperature might actually be "better" than the air. Conversely, going into BSP when the air is 105 is maybe more of a shock. BUT, once you get used to it, swim around and then get out, the 105 feels way way better. Might need to go this weekend. It was great 2 weeks ago!
  9. My teenagers got to witness Eeyore's last year for the first time. Totally weirded out. It is still a monumental temple of weirdness. There is still all kinds of weirdness in town.
  10. Wait, you mean gentrification didn't fix my schools? But my modern farmhouse duplex is pricey! East side is where it's at in many ways... but also decidedly NOT where it's at.
  11. Fueron piratas informaticos
  12. Smellers like a Schnellenberger at OU situation.
  13. What's that about pan?
  14. Actually, let me FIFY. I saw this over and over again on some SEC baseball chat. Its like they sent out talking points after the baseball sweep.
  15. So .25" over Lake Travis and 8" in La Grange.
