    https://www.npr.org/2025/10/23/g-s1-94599/anglican-church-archbishop-accused-of-sexual-misconduct

Archbishop Steve Wood, who heads the Anglican Church of North America, faces allegations of sexual harassment, bullying and plagiarism, according to an explosive report released by The Washington Post on Thursday (Oct. 23). The list of charges, signed by at least 10 individuals attesting to the allegations, is the latest in a string of crises to rock the small, conservative denomination.

A little about the Anglican Church of North America:

The Anglican Church of North America was founded in 2009 after some 700 churches split from the Episcopal Church and the Anglican Church in Canada over various disagreements, including the acceptance of women priests, LGBTQ+ affirmation and the rewritten Book of Common Prayer.

In July 2021, a mother went public with allegations that Mark Rivera, a onetime lay leader at Christ Our Light Anglican Church in Big Rock, Illinois, had sexually abused her 9-year-old daughter. At least nine other people have also shared grooming or sexual misconduct allegations Rivera, who has since been convicted of felony sexual assault and felony child sexual assault.

More than 10 clergy and other lay leaders in the Upper Midwest diocese have been accused of misconduct as a result and its bishop, Stewart Ruch stood trial in a proceeding that concluded Oct 15 — but not before two prosecutors had resigned amid claims of procedural misconduct. The church court's order is expected on or before Dec. 16.

Meanwhile, the denomination has been shaken by dustups involving other bishops. One ACNA bishop was defrocked in 2020 due to his pornography use; in 2024, another bishop, Todd Atkinson, was ousted for inappropriate relationships with women.

In September, Bishop Derek Jones, who oversaw a jurisdiction that endorsed ACNA's chaplains, announced his departure from the denomination after the archbishop moved to investigate several misconduct allegations against him. The jurisdiction claimed the proposed investigation violated church bylaws, and has moved to exit the denomination, attempting to take its chaplains with it. The jurisdiction also sued the denomination for trademark infringement and unfair business practices.

After reading all of that, I don't understand why those guys didn't just become Southern Baptists? They'd basically be getting high fives.

I don't have to know all my neighbors to know that at least half of them are way too dumb to graduate college.

I'm not saying there aren't still many, many excellent colleges here in America. What I will say, is that I think you underestimate that there are also hundreds upon hundreds of colleges who give out degrees for being able to Velcro your tennis shoes, or slip on flip flops if that's too complicated.

Correct. I went and looked at the twitter of the person JimmyJazz posted above. They're still tweeting and retweeting complete garbage. Just some of the dumbest stuff. I did it earlier with another "oh the prices" tweets I saw on the Leopards reddit thread. The woman in that one was literally tweeting so much I couldn't go and find her original grocery prices tweet from this summer, because her brain-dead ass was tweeting 20-30 times a day or more. And it wasn't about grocery prices, it was AI videos of AOC having a plane drop shit on her.

    This experiment is over.

Kinda where I'm at. If they actually raise the money, isn't the 10% worth it? 90% of 0 you had coming in via this method before is still 0

I mean, there's a legal concept of "consent" which none of these guys agreed to use their company logo, etc. That is a big deal. That being it seems like an agreement could be struck as well. As opposed to "Give the money back and we're going to sue the fuck out of you" which might net more money anyway.

GoFundMe scraped public IRS data to create donation pages for over 1.4m U.S. nonprofits - including their logos and options for ongoing monthly donations - without their consent.  They stood to make millions off of platform fees until a couple folks noticed it and raised a stink.

    https://abc7news.com/post/gofundme-created-14-million-donation-pages-nonprofits-bay-area-organizations-had-no-clue/18013410/

They've now reversed course on the suggested 15-17% "platform tip" default - but otherwise acting like it's all just normal.

The general population isn’t aware of almost any political news, so that’s not surprising. I think a TEA takeover of Austin would be much more newsworthy because of the political activism of the district, proximity to the Capitol, and the political/connected nature of the parents. Houston ISD doesn’t have a west Austin contingent that largely despises TEA and Abbott. They are 80% low income and the other 20% are fine as long as their magnet programs don’t get cut. I think AISD could keep the takeover in the media enough to create some pressure that the state actually deliver some results.

Just to reiterate, I rate my idea that a state takeover leads to recapture being fixed at a 1% possibility. But I rate the legislature doing it because it’s the right thing at 0%.

I live in Houston, and this is pretty inaccurate on a couple levels. The first one is that Houston ISD doesn't have a "west Austin contingent." I live in the Heights and Timbergrove/Oak Forest section of Houston, which is Central Houston, HISD, and homes that go from 500k to 1.5 million, at least these days. These are a lot of well-to-do families, votes blue, and widely despises Abbot and and TEA. There was no shortage of F Mike Miles yard signs anywhere around me. And by "no shortage" i mean every third house. HISD also encompasses River Oaks, West U/Rice Village, I believe Bellaire, which areas home prices blow Heights/Timbergrove out of the water. Now, do a lot of those kids go to private school? Yes. Are the expensive areas still somewhat protected even though they're within HISD? Yes. But you're talking about literally the richest areas in Houston that are within HISD. Lets not pretend these people are completely unaware of what's going on.

I think a takeover in Austin won't make any more or prolonged media attention than the fourth largest city in the United States did...because people are powerless to do anything about it.

And who exactly is looking out for AISD’s interests at the state level to make that happen?

I almost got laughed off the board last spring, but this is my pipe dream scenario where it gets fixed. The state takes over and wants to look like the heroes solving all of AISD’s problems. They will be under a microscope even more than with Houston for all the political reasons. They get the formula tweaked or some type of carve out that benefits AISD. Then they fix a lot of the financial problems that the district could have solved on their own, claim victory, and eventually move on to their next target with increased political capital.

Is that likely? Of course not. But can you give me a more plausible scenario of recapture getting fixed in the next decade?

Considering what's happened in Houston, don't consider your scenario to be too unlikely.

I'm telling everyone to stop acting like a bunch of bitches. I'm not saying to not criticize the team or aspects of the game that warrant it, but stop acting like Texas lost the fucking game and that they aren't deep in the hunt for SECCG and Playoffs.

They’re not. You’re being a blind bitch. The video posted showed our qb quitting. Everyone knows the score but you.

    Get the fuck over yourselves.

ok, maybe everyone is only shitting on HALF of these guys and you can half go fuck yourself.

im not sure what half of go and fuck yourself looks like, maybe a couple fingers or getting limber and sucking yourself off, but you’re a smart guy, you’ll figure it out. I have faith in you.

Just snagged tickets for Eagles in the Sphere in late February 2026.  Staying at The Palazzo.  It is our first trip to LV.  We will arrive Friday afternoon, see the Eagles Saturday night, and head home Sunday after brunch.  We will not gamble - no issue with it, but not our thing.  So, we need meals and Saturday day entertainment.  Am open to seeing the Wizard of Oz at the Sphere Saturday afternoon.  Otherwise, seems like we should get a car and go to Red Rocks and Hoover.   We want at least one really nice meal, but not like Joël Robuchon $1,000+ nice.  And, we are not really into steakhouses.  So, more Italian, French, Seafood, Sushi.  From the last 10 or so pages of this thread and a Facebook food group, I've made a list of Bouchon, Javier’s, Piero’s, Ferraro’s, Andiamo, Sparrow+Wolf, Other Mama, Lotus of Siam, and Mon Ami Gabi (brunch).

Any restaurants you would add to, or remove, from the list?  Best suggestion (on or off the list) for the big dinner?  If we rent a car for Saturday, anything to add to Red Rocks and Hoover for area attractions?

I don’t think Javier’s is worth a trip to the Aria by itself if you’re staying at the palazzo. Just my two cents.

Bouhchon sounds like a given. Piero’s for your Italian if you go that way.

Ha. I don't like how the guy handled his Texas exit, but I'm not actively trying to sabotage his career. Is imitating a crazy black man's voice the audio version of committing blackface? I'm assuming so, and therefore, yeah, I'm good.

What CTJ doesn't say here, but which should be obvious, is that he's now planning several calls into Pauly Finebaum where Lewis Livinstone is going to gas about how he and his nephew Parker have been cooking meth in a trailer in Vidor every summer since he was 10, which by coincidence, was also the first year Parker stole a car and crashed it into a tree just to feel something.

In the forthcoming weeks we're going to hear some very interesting members of the Stroh family hitting the airwaves, who I will remind all of you are Aggies, talking about how the ginger folk are some of the most efficient and successful fentanyl mules China has ever employed.
