can you procure said texts? the reason i ask is because i feel like injecting ourselves into this game, as a unit, would be a good idea. meaning, a surlyhorns twatter account the takes our collective genius along with our connections and starts making waves in this college football landscape.

at this point, just DM them to Zach Smith heh

Didn’t they promote CDC’s protege to AD?

    Spoiler

In fact, Del Conte is a big brother-like figure for Donati. Del Conte lived in a children’s home where Donati’s father, Richard, served as a house parent.

The bond between the two families goes back decades.

“Outside of me getting married and my kids being born, the greatest day for me was when I was named the AD at Texas and Jeremiah was named the AD at TCU a couple hours later,” Del Conte said. “When his father was passing, he told me, ‘Take care of my boy, Jeremiah.’ I said, ‘I got it chief.’ That day, when we both became ADs, was a surreal moment for me just because of all the things we’ve been through.

“TCU is in great hands. He’s a great leader. He’s an unbelievable person.”

It would be an unbelievably bad decision on Catalon's part to get in bed with TCU.  On so many levels and for so many reasons a bad decision. We'll be fine, but TCU is in a world of hurt over the next few years.  They've recruited terribly.

i am really interested to see what happens there / what all CDC was making appear to be solid when it wasn't.

we know how much of a trickle down impact a bad hire at AD can do (or if someone is just not aligned with the programs)

In regards to Myron Warren, a poster on tigerdroppings posted that Shea Dixon ( LSU 247 mod ) is saying the rest of the LSU DL targets are Sopsher and JUCO/grad transfers.

woah you weren't kidding re: LSU (this is a great addition to the 247 site)

    🚨🚨

    Update on 5️ #ATH Bru McCoy (24/7):

    Spoiler

“I love the program, primarily the coaches and the environment,” McCoy said. “Austin is a really cool city. The program is on the up and up. You look at Coach (Tom) Herman and what he did at Houston and now transferring that to Texas, you can see where the program is heading.”

“Coach Herman brings this up-tempo energy about himself, and he’s very charismatic,” McCoy said. “Coach Mehringer is a really genuine and nice guy. He cares a lot about his players, specifically the receivers, in all facets of life. The relationship between me and Coach Herman, Coach Mehringer and Coach Beck is strong.”

“The message they’ve conveyed to me is the best way to grow as a person is to make yourself uncomfortable,” McCoy said. “They think I can stay at home and be comfortable. But if you want to grow as a man, you have to step out of your comfort zone. Texas offers a great place to grow, and Austin is a great city.”

“Austin is different. The culture is very football based. They are all in football fans. Going to the game and watching 103,000 people scream chants, I’ve never experienced that, and you don’t get that experience in California given the number of teams. Texas is the football school that represents Texas, in my opinion."

“Austin has a lot of different aspects to it music wise, and you have the lakes. It’s gorgeous. And you have the city. It’s a cool place.”

“He’s (De'Gabriel Floyd) recruiting me as hard as anyone has ever recruited me,” McCoy said. “Gabe is one of my friends. I know he has my best interest in mind but also, I know he wants me to be his teammate. Me and him did get to play a little in 7-on-7 in the offseason. He’s a freak of a player. He tells me why he’s going there and why he’s so confident. He told me I shouldn’t be worried because we have each other’s backs. He’s done a great job of making me comfortable if that were the decision I were to make.”

“It’s a tough comparison,” McCoy said. “They are both different and the same. They are very rich tradition programs that go way back. People look at the Vince Young run to the end zone to beat USC. Obviously, they blew USC out this year. But the programs are comparable in the sense that they are highly competitive and strive to be the best.”

    Whittington X or Slot

    Houston Z

    Washington X

    Bru X

    Lewis Z

Powell I think is a Z but I think he'll end up on defense

Wilson and Higgins play the 'not coming to Texas' position

Thanks man, was a shot in the dark but want to try and understand where guys fit generally - I feel like I have a decent understanding of DL and LB positions (and DB overall) but WR is just not something I have a great grasp on!

Know Wilson/Higgins aren't coming here but wanted to see where they fit!

We usually play 11.  If cj and ljh are back, that’s 2. Third spot will be a fight between jake Smith, duvernay, Burt, Woodard, and eagles. Next year will be crowded.

Unless we go more 4 wr sets because we lose beck and like the wr room more than the te room.

uh, those guys don't all play the same position...

    X - CJ, Eagles (+ Pouncey)

    Z - Duvernay, Burt, Woodard (I think he is a Z?)

Slot - LJH, Jake Smith, (+Josh Moore)

Can someone remind me where these commits/targets fit in position wise?

    • J Whittington (X?)
    • D Houston (Z?)
    • M Washington (Z?)
    • P Powell (Z?)
    • Bru (X?)
    • Elijah Higgins (X?)
    • Kennedy Lewis (Slot?)
    • Garrett Wilson (?)

They're not building any more CMs anywhere, so you can disregard that rumor.

didn't they literally just open one at Midway/Northwest Highway in the last 60 days?

this DMN article says "Oak Cliff and Uptown Central Markets continue to be in the works, but without firm timelines."

    have inside info here?

  9. went to LeRoy and Lewis Saturday, and once again they killed it. Those guys are putting out some great food.

Had Beef Cheeks, Whole Hog and Pork Sausage + Brisket.

No line when they opened - which is dumbfounding to me - those guys are fantastic.

How does Stanford do at DL recruiting? How do we compare to Stanford overall? If Oscar Giles recruited for Stanford, would he still be terrible?

wait, how can we quantitatively compare and determine if a degree from Stanford is better than a degree from Texas? THIS SHIT MATTERS!

That’s a solid bucket list. LeRoy is a fucking wizard

Evan LeRoy is absolutely a wizard. Agree with that 100% - wish I lived closer than 90 min from there!

Powell might have grabbed his spot.

the IT guys have Catalon at like 60% (EN) and 50% (JW) but have been pushing that they are recruiting him hard because of his skillset

    Wells:

    Spoiler

    I’ll go 50%.

Spoke to him the other day. He’s taking an OV to Austin in December.

If Texas can’t concince him of why Austin is his best possible spot, then they don’t deserve him

Nahlin on how hard they are recruiting him on a 1-10 scale:

    Spoiler

    9-10.

They need to emphasize playing time and opportunity. As you note he has a much needed skill set. They also need to win over his parents. It's possible he could play as a true freshman but not likely that he'd start.

I have him at 60% to Texas but I'm on an island predicting him to UT.

I was stunned when UT offered Hager as a LB.  All he ever did at Westlake was run around the tackle and crash the QB and he wasn't big enough to be a college DL.   That Westlake team had two decent high school LBers, and he wasn't one of them.

dude had some *huge* gains in the weightroom from freshman year and again under McKnight.

  14. Wells on Adimora OV:

    Spoiler

Believe he’ll OV to Austin in early December.

Those first few weekends the last month of the year loom large.

    Nahlin on Warren and LSU:

    Spoiler

I heard they’re still evaluating him, which means they’re still evaluating numbers.

Texas needs to coach him on how to handle this and tell him, “We would take your signature right now.”

Wells on Watson/earlier visit to Tenn:

    Spoiler

He did visit there as a guest with his live-in cousin, who is being recruited by the Vols.

    Another trip wouldn’t shock me.

    Wells on Watson's parents:

    Spoiler

Kenyatta junior is a big fan of the Longhorns. So is mom.

  15. additional IT comments from the last few days

    Spoiler

Q: Is the recruitment for Powell as positive as his comments in

Wells: Hard to say. I’ll know more post-visit.

    ///

Q: I must have missed the part about Chad Morris being the only coach that talks with Jalon Catalon. Unless that’s sarcasm, in which case I really missed it.

Wells: Not sarcasm. Looks pretty damn smart right now.

    ///

Q: JW silence on Catalon is deafening. I’ll wait and see if he shows up to the baylor game.

Wells: I’ve written about Catalon every few weeks for over a year. Not much has changed.

He likes Texas, Arkansas, and TCU. And honestly, I don’t think he has a clue where he’s going.

Catalon is a mature kid. He thinks things through. He analyzes all angles. Probably why it’s a Dec/Jan decision.

Does the amount of talent at DB in Austin scare him? Maybe, maybe not.

But right now, he’s scheduled to see Texas, again, for an UOV this weekend. And Texas is the school he’s visited the most.

    ///

Q: What’s the chance those plans change and he and Carter both commit to Arky and shut it down before Texas gets him back on campus.

Wells: There’s a chance, but it goes against everything he’s said and done over the last two years.

    ////

Q: Something else to watch is that Kennedy Lewis has a relative who plays QB for Melissa in the 2020 class.

    https://www.hudl.com/video/3/7929951/5bbf6a9b38642e0fcc7f8198

    Wells: His little brother.

I kinda wish this would’ve stayed quiet. Patterson might go into labor.

    They like Lewis at X.

So far I've seen Roschon Johnson, Jordan Whittington, Jared Wiley, Peter Mpagi, De'Gabriel Floyd, and Marcus Tillman as potential EEs.

99% sure that Roschon was listed as an EE or said he wanted to be an EE. 247 only has Mpagi listed as an EE but that is based on self reporting i believe, either way that can be a decent place to go look for this stuff the closer we get to signing day
