Vladimir Putin has signed a decree lowering the threshold for Russia's use of nuclear weapons. It follows a US decision to allow Ukraine to carry out long-range missile strikes on Russia using American weapons. Ukraine has carried out its first such attack, with Russia confirming that US ATACMS missiles have hit its Bryansk region.
Russia’s revised nuclear doctrine states that a conventional attack on Russia by any nation that is supported by a nuclear power will be considered a joint attack. An attack on Russia with conventional missiles, drones or aircraft could meet the criteria for a nuclear response.
The Kremlin urged other countries to study the changes. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov described the decree as “a very important text” and said "it should become a subject to a very deep analysis".
Recently Russia warned it would deliver “an appropriate and tangible” response to the US President's decision to let Ukraine use ATACMS missiles to strike the country. Russia's foreign ministry said that such an attack "would represent the direct involvement of the United States and its satellites in hostilities against Russia”.
Isn't North Korea technically attacking Russian territory right now?

Oh man, there's a BUNCH of YouTube videos on this. Everything from PLA to some tailor-blended filaments for burn-out. But yeah aluminum, copper, and bronze all play really nicely with the process
The really crazy stuff is the SLA (stereolithography) printers that get micron layer heights.
I really recommend OrcaSlicer for its built in tuning prints that are really helpful for building a filament profile. Covers everything from temperature towers, to pressure advance, to max flow rate calibrations. That's definitely more nitty gritty, but it's nice for tuning
I figure I'll mess around with the native software enough to kinda get a feel for things and then venture out to the other stuff once I've got an idea of what I'm doing.

Supposed to storm all night and then clear up just after daybreak at our place in East Texas. That's as good of a recipe as any for them to be moving during the day given the warm temperatures.

Did my first print of something that wasn't preloaded on the printer last night. Took me a bit because the flash drive that came with it was corrupted and wouldn't even format. Anyhow, I eventually found another one and was able to download the firmware updates and stuff and figure out how to use the slicer to print this guy. The first time I tried to print it without supports because I didn't think about the hands or back of the helmet hanging down. Stopped it and resliced it and got a pretty decent print. Gonna have to figure out how to fine tube the settings, but so far it has been pretty much plug and play.

This thing is bigger than I had pictured in my head.

It's a quick 4 hour drive from Austin.

I've got an ffl who does transfers for $15 if you have an ltc. You need to find a good ffl.

I would be interested to see what the driverless car does with dreaded "Right Lane closed in 1000 ft" . Does the car merge over at a proper distance from the closure, or does it speed up and drive all the way to the cones and then merge like jack-asses do.
But, but, but, the zipper merge is more efficient!*
*this doesn't take into account real world conditions, like how it only so many cars can pass a certain point at any given speed no matter how they merge, or the fact that zooming up to the last minute and merging in causes a yoyo effect that .makes traffic exponentially more dangerous for drivers upstream, or that it usually doesn't make a difference if the line in the left lane is a bit longer.

$600 to be able to print CF nylon with a heated chamber is pretty hard to beat. One thing to consider is that Nylon, ABS, and a few other materials off gas VOC's when heated for printing, so be sure to have excellent ventilation or not set it up where people tend to be.
I found a pretty thorough review of that printer, and it looks like it'll be a solid prototyping machine.

Do you have much experience with FDM 3D printing?
None. Probably going to try starting out with some Christmas ornaments and hot wheels ramps and stuff.

I've got a $600 gift card to Amazon, and am looking to get a printer. I want something that can print in CF Nylon filament eventually. Looking at the R Qidi X-Plus 3 for the size of the bed and it's capabilities, but I'm open to suggestions.

I'll never understand the trashiness of youth sport parents. I know I shouldn't be surprised.
My kid plays 8U football. The game before his this AM is 11U. Apparently there is a 12 year old playing on the team that won. This is the last game of the season and the kid turned 12 in the last 2 weeks. The parents of the losing team are irate to say the least. Even pointing at the kid when he was leaving. His dad didn't appreciate that at all, as you can imagine.
One of the coaches of the winning team was leaving after they won and some of the other teams parents were yelling passive aggressive BS at him.
He stopped turned to them in a pretty calm manner and said the boy just turned 12. For most reasonable people that would suffice. These were not those people.
Wouldn't most 11u kids be 12 by now?

A little slow, but did give me time to come to the decision that, given the opportunity, I would have intercourse with Mrs Saldana.

It's less than half a second with a good lock and flint as long as you keep it clean. That's still enough time that you have to have good follow through. If you can shoot a flintlock well, you can shoot anything well.

Here is my rifle, along with my shooting bag, new horn, and old horn. The rifle is a Pedersoli Scout in .50 caliber. It's not a proper longrifle, as it only has a 28 inch barrel. One of these days I will buy or build a proper one. The shooting bag I made myself. The fur is from the first deer I ever killed. It was also made using period materials. Interestingly enough, the black color is not from dye, it is from a chemical reaction using what is called vinegaroon. The other powder horn was "made" using a cheap pre-made horn and then extensively modifying it. The new one is the first I've made from scratch. Hanging from the old powderhorn is my powder measure and vent pick.

The hunting should dictate the caliber, not the other way around, unless youare one of those poor souls like me who like to wander around in the woods with a traditional muzzleloader or something like that. There are plenty of new hot rounds out there that are great for their specific application, but if your application is taking 100 yard shots or 200 yards shots or whatever, you should pick a round that is made for that and is commonly available at any outdoors store near where you hunt.

Finished making this powderhorn yesterday to carry with my flintlock just in time for hunting season.
Everything was completely made by hand using period materials and no power tools.

If towing longer distances is required for your use, current EVs aren't ideal. But 25 miles shouldn't be stopping you. The current F-150 lightning will get you 90+ even at max towing capacity.
No, but we take the camper up to Arkansas and Oklahoma. An electric truck would be perfect for hauling short distances, projects around the house, filling up deer feeders, etc.

Technology will soon lead to wheel hub motors and near wheel motors where there is no center axle and power to each wheel is computer controlled.
My wife could destroy a wheel hub motor in record time.

Basically, and it will cost about 1.5X the median annual household after tax income and will require chargers in places like Terlingua. It doesn't mean I wouldn't consider one (although Plug-in Hybrids would be more likely), but it will primarily be meant for driving the kids to soccer practice and picking up groceries. It isn't going to be sitting on ranches.
My commute to work is like 25 miles, and our family land is about the same distance from where we live, so this would be perfect for most of the time. I would still need to keep my ICE truck for pulling, obviously.
