  1. How is Memorial Park for beginner-ish players?

Long way of saying I still hate slowing groups down so if Memorial Park is for like players in the 80s, I’ll continue playing at random places…but I live right by park so it would be nice to go play less than 5 minutes from my house rather than hodgepodge of places all over Houston I’ve played at that are 4-5x further.

As said above, go play as often as you can. In many ways it is much more forgiving than it was before the renovation. For the resident rate, it is one of the best deals in the state. And the practice facility (the chipping green, not the driving range) is probably the best in the city and is free

  2. That’s my reading on Wee Bay’s “family“ dynamic as well. The scene where Wee Bay tells De’Londa to let Namond go remains one of the best in the series.
Question for the thread, why does De‘Londa need Namond grinding on the corners? Couldn’t she become a hustler herself and wholesale packages?

Bc she’s a lazy pos and a terrible human

  3. Yeah, I was the "breaker-bar" kid for the longest damn time.  Just a solid metal bar with a chisel tip on one end.  Has to be 50+ years old.  Still have it.  T-post driver is also a big bucket of suck.

I have driven enough t-posts this year to last a good while. Co-signed on the suck
I've heard so many different names for this tool from various cowboys and workers - a big Awl, an Asp, Breaker-bar, pry bar, etc. I've never heard it referred to as a San Angelo bar before, but I'm going to keep calling it an Awl.

Some folks call it a kaiser blade

  4. It’s shaping up be a bumper luffa crop in Houston. Got the seeds in end of March and we’ve already harvested 15 jumbos with about as many more still on the vine

  5. Did Austin firefighters deploy to Liberty Hill and Georgetown? Because I know for a fact that Round Rock firefighters deployed to Liberty Hill and performed numerous water rescues and evacuations.

I saw a convoy racing North up mopac with a zodiac around 0800 saturday, presumably headed for liberty hill/lago vista
  6. Trae Tha Truth (for those who don’t know he’s a famous rapper from Houston) is as real as they come. every disaster that takes place in Texas, he and his people are there with boots on the ground, doing anything they can to not only raise money and awareness, but to actually volunteer their time and energy to do anything they can to help. a true humanitarian. can’t say enough about this man. a lot of celebrities shill for money for their favorite causes, but nobody actually gets down to ground zero and volunteers like Trae and his people. rally thankful for him and all that he does.

I got my company to donate money from our regional grants fund to Angel by Nature, Trae’s 501©(3). He’s a real one

The “All Syd” episode with the little girl had to be one of the most boring things ever shot for television. Awful.
Just a complete waste of 35-40 odd minutes

Ayo is going to win an emmy for directing that ep.

  8. Finished Andor last night (yeah, sue me). So damn good. You guys have said it all.

I went back and read this thread - I did want to touch back on this one - RONIN. IYKYK. Skarsgaard , DeNiro, 3 Bond villains, Jean Reno, Natascha McElhone, Katarina Witt (both in their prime) and one of the two best car chase scenes ever committed to film (French Connection).

Ok so what color is the boathouse at Hereford?
  9. I just watched the first episode of Clone Wars and I just don’t think I can do it. That was awful.

I struggled through part of season 1 before abandoning it because the animation is so terrible. Now, my fire rekindled by Andor I have recommitted. It becomes more palatable as time goes on, and the storylines are compelling. Now almost through S2

Anyone not familiar with The Conversation needs to correct that post haste. It's Hackman at his best, and Coppola in a lean, gritty form that he pretty much abandoned.

Harry Caul is his best performance ever.

it is canon that his character in Enemy of the State is Harry Caul

  11. necrobumping this thread because I am late to the game and few I've asked are aware of the genius of this show.  I'm just about through season 1.  It's a dangerous show to watch during meal time
