Compere Lapin was the head-and-shoulders standout of the trip.  Mrs. Laz is still talking about the Jamaican redfish stew.  Curried goat was very good.  Saba Friday night was great, but we ordered a couple of things that were similar and it kind of became a labneh overload.  Neither of us thought R'Evolution was all that great, but we'd been drinking all day and had just killed an hour at Erin Rose drinking frozen Irish Coffee so probably not the fairest of aperitifs.  We'd also been out freezing our asses off all day at Super Sunday.

Sunday night, we went out looking for Indians in Uptown.  Found some action around 2nd and Dryades.  Indians were pretty

We're there any kids shows that originated in the 80s? Because all I watched were shows from the 50s, 60s and 70s. Kids were an afterthought in the 80s, send them to school, make sure they stay outside til dinner and keep em out of sight til morning.

The campaign against wokeness by turning a neutral word into an insult works astonishing well with brainwashed right. They sneer at the label social justice warrior. Now it's actually promoting remaining asleep concerning BLM and Me Too.

They openly embrace oppression as a defense of whatever they think freedom is.

  4. they're around in Northwest Live Oak county, but I've only ever seen a sounder in the daylight once.  They're on the cameras fairly regularly, and we've got some big loners that pop up now and then, but they're definitely not a problem for us like they are for a lot of areas

similar work ahead for me, though I think I will be doing small triangular enclosures with 2-4 bunces of Little Bluestem in each.  Driving T-posts is easily my least favorite chore

I enjoyed watching the documentary/film Pamela a Love Story. ...

years ago I helped stage a screening of Pelada in Houston, directed by Ryan White, who was at the time fresh out of college and made it to town for the show.  I've really enjoyed seeing his career arc over the years.  He's done a bunch of really solid documentaries since then.  /csb

  7. sitting in a blind in Whitsett. Never been here before. My first impression is folks get up at the crack of dawn so they can shoot off every firearm in their house.
    It's like ww3 has started

Sorry for partying? Blame Speedtrucker and his ringing endorsement of the 716i in the gun owners thread that made be buy one

  8. I shot my first buck a few weeks ago.  On the approach to the blind that morning, I could see a big owl sitting on top of the blind, silhouetted against the sky by the night fires.  I wasn't keen to get too close to the blind with it up there, and I was worried that running the owl off might spook the deer.  When I finally closed the gap, it alit with absolute silence and was gone over the brush.  Pretty cool to experience that.  There would be blood on my hands shortly after

T-Bones has a good reputation. I’ve only been once and it was early in the season so nothing to write home about.

  10. I'm likely going to be in the market for a modern sporting rifle in the near future, and am looking at something in 7.62 / .308.  I stumbled across a Sig 716i at Collectors recently that includes a nikon .308 optic for $1950.  That sent me down the rabbit hole of the quasi-AR10 platforms, the Indian army requisition of the 716i for the Northern Command, the new Ruger SFAR, SA Saint Victor.  Anybody have any trigger time on any of them?  I'm leaning towards the Sig, if only because I'm leery to jump into the first gen Ruger, even if it is a ruger.  Midway has the sig without optic for $1499.  Hard to argue with that logic.  I'm not terribly interested in building anything in AR10.  If I was inclined to tinker I'd drop down to AR15, but I need something that packs a bigger punch on hogs and something I can use to hunt whitetail from time to time
