Jabari Rice
Sure Rice had a decent summer league, but we really won't know how good he will be in the NBA until the lights go on.

I can mostly agree with that. I thought Carr was pretty good the previous year too though. I still think that team could have made a decent run in the tourney. Matchups are also important and we ran into a terrible opponent against Purdue the year before in the tourney. And "how" a game is called can also make a big difference, even if the game is called evenly. Basically a lot of luck is involved to win a title in basketball. But if you keep putting out a top-10 team year after year, you will finally get one (or more).

Yeah, he didn't do much. Marcus Carr got more run with Phoenix, but he didn't have a very good showing either.

Brock Cunningham out here looking 6'10. WTF. Image looks photoshopped or something. That or he is like 10% bigger than everyone.

If anyone needs a new travel card, the Chase Ink business has a big points bonus right now (100K). And the referrals are crazy high (40K). If anybody is planning to get one, let me know and I'll send a referral link. And if you already have one, a good plan is to send your SPOUSE a referral link. Then they get an independent card and 100K bonus and you get the 40K.- TRAVEL: Points, Miles, Discounts, Tips, Advice & Questions
I used a Marriott 35K free night plus ~7K add on points for a 24 hour staycation down at Austin Proper back a month ago. It was fantastic. Rates were going for like $450, so I felt like it was a decent value. In fairness thought, I would have stayed at a Motel 6 in Pflugerville just to get away from the kids for 24 hours.- When is the last time you wore a watch?
My son just graduated high school and we bought him this watch to get started on a collection: Vaer A5 Field White - USA Auto 40mm- When is the last time you wore a watch?
Yeah the price has gone up a lot over the years. It used to only be worth ~$2,500 and was one of the least expensive resale Rolexes. I don't think I could ever sell it, even though I don't love that it is a quartz. It has some dings in it that I will also never buff out. Whenever I see them I think about what my granddad (a farmer) was doing when he dinged it up. My dad has probably 5-6 Rolexes plus another one from my other granddad, so someday more may be headed my way. My dad wears one like this every day: All of them are a little too blingy for me. I have a Stowa Klassic that I generally prefer. It looks good on a variety of straps and is more understated: But generally I just wear my Garmin Vivoactive 3 every day. It is comfortable and is a great running watch.- When is the last time you wore a watch?
I inherited this OysterQuartz from my granddad. Reminds me that I need to get the batteries replaced.- Should AI-generated images be copyrightable?
If I'm honest, that is some of the funniest art I have seen in a while. Maybe I'll play around and make a better version of one of these.- Austin among top ten cities with real estate listings above 1 million
This stat depends heavily on how you define "city". Austin is actually the 10th biggest city in the US. So it makes sense it would also be among the top-10 cities with listings over $1M. On the other hand, the Austin metro area is only around the 30th biggest metro area in the US. If we are a top-10 metro area in $1M listings but only top-30 in size, then that would paint a very different picture.- Is 1999 the best year for movie releases ever?
T2 is overrated as fuck- Trevor Noah’s reign of terror comes to an end.
If someone is actually funny we don't care where they are from. Ricky Gervais is hysterical and is an equal opportunity offender. John Oliver is not nearly as funny, but is clever enough that he keeps my attention despite being overly condescending. Trevor Noah isn't very funny and isn't very clever. He bores me. So when he makes fun I just find myself saying "fuck off" in my head.- NBA 2023-24 Off Season
LeBron kinda left the team that drafted him after winning a title. Of course he had already left them once before.- Texas Basketball 2023-24
I’m just saying that is a worst case, which is still fantastic. Obviously hoping he is a major contributor down the line.- Texas Basketball 2023-24
Or stays here for 5 years, never plays much, but has a UT degree and possibly even a masters.- NBA 2023-24 Off Season
Agreed. But narratives can change quickly. People said the same thing about Durant until he left for Golden State. Remember this guy? We are seeing that now in real time with Dame Lillard.- Texas Basketball 2023-24
At Tech, Beard would have played 5 small forwards on the court at the same time if he had the personnel. I kid. Mostly.- Texas Basketball 2023-24
Even better. Smart move for the kid. Can play against much better competition than staying another year in high school.- Texas Basketball 2023-24
Doubt he will get to play much, but it seems like he has some good building blocks to develop for a few years. And better to round out the practice squad this way than with walk-ons.- Texas Basketball 2023-24
No, I don't think that is possible.- Texas Basketball 2023-24
Brock Cunningham is just a super senior. Ithiel Horton is a super duper senior.- NBA 2023-24 Off Season
I have to think there are teams who would trade a late 1st rounder for multiple 2nds. And then you can take multiple late 1sts and bundle them to move up in the draft. It is a great problem to have.- 2023 FIBA World Cup
The world has gotten a lot more talented. Check out Canada's likely team: Starters: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jamal Murray, RJ Barrett, Kelly Olynyk, Dwight Powell Bench: Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Lu Dort, Dillon Brooks, Bennedict Mathurin, Thomas Scrubb That is a legit team right there. - TRAVEL: Points, Miles, Discounts, Tips, Advice & Questions
