  1. Somebody remind me how I can watch this without ESPN+. Via PM if necessary.
  2. In previous years, I have no doubt we would be 1-4 or 2-3. I'm mainly encouraged that we are still finding ways to win even though we aren't playing that great. It will be interesting to see what happens the rest of the season. Every day this is more Terry's team. As the schedule keeps getting harder we will see what they are all made of. They won't be able to let teams like Kansas get out to big leads.
  3. My closing lineup would be Hunter, Carr, Rice, Allen and then whoever is playing better between Disu and Bishop. If you have to go big then I would sit Allen before any of the guards. They all shoot 80%+ from the line and can all handle the ball at a pretty elite level.
  4. I like this team much better than last year’s team. Rice is more clutch than anyone on that team. Carr is playing better off the ball. Disu is better. The freshmen are supremely athletic and fun to watch. The team is finding ways to win. Those damn Shaka teams would have like 10 losses by <5 points. This team is winning those games. Hunter is the difference in the team being good or being special. I think he will pull it together.
  5. I'm just spit-balling here, but I think Terry might be able to leverage winning a National Title into some decent recruits and transfers. Of course, he isn't going to win a title, so it is moot.
  6. Or they could have... you know... used one of their two remaining timeouts where they could have designed a play to put the ball in LeBron's hands.
  7. I don’t think a single person on this board is advocating for hiring Rodney Terry. I’m only saying that it is possible for me to change my mind. But having watched the team the last few weeks, it is incredibly unlikely.
  8. I think he is doing a little better than OK. The whole Beard situation had the potential of completely splintering the team going into a brutal Big-12 slate. I think he has done a great job under those circumstances. I mean, he is 8-1 with wins over Massey #16, at #32, #41, at #59. Only loss was to the #11 team (although it was pretty painful). Yes it seems like we should be winning bigger than we are, but a lot of those would be close losses in previous years. Again, I think we can do better, but give the man his due.
  9. Do you really think the only way Terry keeps his job is if we win a title? What if we win the Big 12, something we have only done 3 times? What if we make it to an Elite 8, something we have only done 4 times in the last 50 years? What if we make a Final Four? This roster is definitely talented enough to do any of the above. We are winning games with our best player playing like shit. If they put it together they are capable of having the best year in school history. And if Terry pulls it off, it will be under extremely difficult circumstances. As I have said, I think we can do better. But saying he has zero chance is stupid.
  10. If Terry gives us a solid tourney run (Sweet 16 all the way up to potential Final Four), I’m fine giving him another year. Or give him a multi year deal, but with a very low buyout. But under no circumstances would I sign him to a long term deal without multiple good years.
  11. This is the most fun to watch team we have had in about 10 years in my opinion. I like literally all of the players.
  12. I was pretty impressed by Tech. We clearly have the more talented roster, but they uglied the game up and almost beat us. They have also been very close in a lot of their other losses, including Kansas. I’m not sure Terry is better than Adams.
  13. It is really going to suck when Aggy hires Beard and they win a title, while beating us continually in the SEC. But I would take it over celebrating the retention of a domestic abuser.
  14. Yes... but is he one of our own? SMFH. The question in the OP has been answered. And fine, maybe it was a valid question at the time. Anyone is free to criticize him and his choices all they want. I don't love everything that he is done. I wish he had gone to Boston. And I hate he has paired up with morons Kyrie and Ben Simmons. But only an idiot would question whether he is a Longhorn. Imagine having a perpetual "Vince Young --- One of our own?" post living on the front page of the football board because he once threw his pads into the stands. So mods, either let us start a new catch-all Durant thread, with a proper name, or change the name. But it is a disgrace to have this thread, with this title, on the front page of a longhorn basketball board for YEARS. Moreover, it tells any potential high level recruits everything they need to know about our basketball fanbase.
  15. For OKC fans, it sounds like he isn’t “one of their own”
  16. If he didn’t go to Golden State he would have gone to Boston and they would have been great too. And if not LeBron would have just won more titles. Or would you rather he stayed in OKC with Westbrook? Regardless of all that it is still moronic to question whether he is “one of our own”. The thread title should be insulting to any UT basketball fan. I honestly can’t believe we still have it on this site. And it isn’t even possible to start a NEW thread so we are stuck with this disgrace.
  17. I wouldn't take a 3 seed right now. This team is capable of a 1 seed.
  18. Looks like my shot at a new thread was deleted. So I guess the bitch-assedness can continue. I could see it if this was an OKC or Golden State board. As a UT board this is embarrassing.
  19. Disagree. The OP was questioning whether the best athlete in UT history (from a career perspective), who won every major award at Texas, who has his jersey RETIRED and who continued to support the program to the tune of $3.5M... is actually "one of our own". On a UT sports board, I don't think it is possible to have a worse take.
  20. I saw that Marquette is top 10 in fast break points. It is maddening. I will never understand why he completely changed his philosophy here.
  21. The thing about this team is that we have plenty of firepower if somebody is having a bad night. Carr, Hunter, Allen, Rice or even Morris can all take over a game and score 20+. If someone is playing bad, they need to just get it to whoever is playing good. Carr is really the only one who plays hero ball, and most of the time I don’t have a problem with it. Great great win.
  22. I will pause my judgement on Terry until after the season. But my bias is that we can do significantly better.
