This would be a relevant point in a thread about the greatest teams of all time.
Sounds like the kind of excuses people used to make about Russell Westbrook. They were basically the same player.

That's just horseshit. in 94 games, Wilt averaged 29.9 points and 28.2 rebounds per game vs. 6'9" Bill Russell, perhaps the greatest defensive player of all time.
What was the outcome of most of those games?

I'm thinking that now Durant has moved himself up to at least ~15th all-time in the NBA. If you look at Bill Simmons pyramid from 10 years ago (as a reference), he certainly compares favorably to guys in that range.
Now he has:
- 1x NBA MVP
- 2x Championships
- 2x Finals MVP
- 9x All-Star
- 4x Scoring Champ (but 5x most points)
- 5x 1st Team NBA + 2x 2nd Team
Compare to:
- #19 Charles Barkley - No Titles / Finals MVP, Same NBA MVP, Same 1st Team NBA, No scoring titles - Advantage KD
- #18 Karl Malone - No Titles / Finals MVP, 11X 1st Team NBA, 2X NBA MVP, No scoring titles - Advantage KD but close due to Malone career numbers
- #17 Bob Pettit - Too long ago, don't care. But... 1 Title, 9x 1st Team NBA, 2x MVP, 2x Scoring title. Advantage KD due to recency bias
- #16 Julius Erving - ABA / NBA makes it too hard to compare. Probably advantage Dr. J due to 3 combined titles and 4 MVPs.
- #15 Elgin Baylor - Too high. No Titles, No scoring titles, No MVP - Advantage KD.
- #14 John Havlicek - 8x NBA Champ, 1x Finals MVP, No NBA MVP, No scoring titles - Close. Advantage KD due to MVPs and Finals MVP
- #13 Moses Malone - 1 Title, 1 Finals MVP, 3x NBA MVP - Advantage Moses for more MVPs but close
- #12 Shaq - Advantage Shaq
- #11 Hakeem - Advantage Hakeem
- ...
He has a legit chance to move into the top-10 with a few more Titles / Finals MVPs plus he will keep moving up all the all-time charts in points and could be at the top when all is said and done. I put him at #14 right now with maximum upside potential of top 5 depending on the next 10 years.

User name checks out.
I have never and will never question his greatness, but I still don’t like him. -
The balance of power is about to shift to the east IMHO. Boston and Philly are going to get better next year and GS will be a tad older and likely more complacent. If Boston adds Anthony Davis or Philly adds Kawhi or LeBron it could get interesting.
Heck if Boston just runs it back with Kyrie and Hayward added to the mix they will cause some problems.- 1

The Warriors would not be the best team in the NBA without KD. They almost lost to Houston WITH him. He now has back to back Finals MVPs. I would say he made the right decision.

Durant deserves the MVP. Averaging 28.5, 10.5, 7.5 for the Finals. Has been great.
-
Disagree. He was TERRIBLE given what he had to work with. He literally might be the best athlete to ever play hoops for Texas. Top-10 at least. He should be wrecking shop in the NBA right now.
-
But dat 41% FT% tho.
-
Agree that Prince Ibeh sucked. His "fantastic" senior year he averaged 4 points, 5 boards and shot 41% from the FT line. For a big guy who only dunks he shot a crappy 57% from the field. He was such a great player that year he only earned 18 mpg.
How can an athletic freak like that only get 5 boards per game? He was the most one dimensional player we have ever had, and even that one dimension wasn't that impressive (2 blocks per game).
I was also never very impressed with Ridley. He was slow as dirt. He is the kind of fools gold player that never wins much at the college level in March.
Honestly I was glad to see both of them graduate. -
It makes me laugh that people complain about Durrant "ruining the league". Meanwhile, Cleveland has the highest paid roster in the NBA. LeBron tried his hardest to assemble a super team like he did in Miami... He just failed to do it.
Golden State drafted most of their best players. Then they managed their cap space well enough to add a top 3 player in Durant. They haven't over paid shitty players like so many other teams. And they play a beautiful style of basketball where everyone gets touches that is both fun to watch and fun to play.
All that said, if Durant hadn't gone to GS I don't think they win another title. Curry and Draymond have slipped a notch. The league has gotten better and now everyone is shooting 3s. Even with Durant, Houston would have very likely won Game 7 with a healthy Chris Paul.
GTFO with this "destroyed the NBA" crap. It is better now than it has been in 30 years.- 4

By discontinuing the swimsuit at the same time as "being more inclusive", they are basically saying that bigger is just as beautiful... unless it is in a swimsuit. Lol.

This thread is a damn beating.

Alternatively if y'all want to try something new, we could do an all Longhorn draft using the same approach with only their time at UT being available. We could go from 1990.

I'll take things you didn't win for $500, Alex. Your usage rate all-star team didn't even make the finals.
Ha. Damn that's right. I lost the quarterfinal by 1 and then had votes come in after the deadline to push me over the edge. Maybe I was thinking of the other Fantasy Island thing we did. I could have sworn I won one of them.
I SHOULD have won though. C'mon this is a solid team that would D you up. They could speed you up or slow you down. My bench would run everyone out of the gym. But Thibodeau tho. Oof.
Team: Lazy Engineer
Coach: Tom Thibodeau, 13-14
G: Dwyane Wade, 08-09
G: Kobe Bryant, 05-06
F: Dennis Rodman, 91-92
F: Ben Wallace, 01-02
😄 Moses Malone, 82-83
Bench:
G: Steve Nash, 05-06
G: Allen Iverson, 00-01
F: Julius Erving, 80-81
F: Shawn Marion, 05-06
F: Blake Griffin, 13-14 -
I won last time. As best I can remember my lineup was Duane Wade, Kobe Bryant, Dennis Rodman, Moses Malone, Ben Wallace. Allen Iverson and Ray Allen off the bench.
Would play again. -
Ha, yeah I figured it was something like that. It just looked like you were setting up for a business meeting on the top of the mountain.

Cool GUMO pics. Don't understand hiking in a dress shirt.

Yep this is what I installed. Super easy following YouTube video. Took maybe 30 min. Sounds great.Probably even better... https://www.carid.com/usa-spec/bluetooth-phone-and-music-interface-mpn-bt45toy.html

People complaining about Curry taunting LeBron somehow seem to forget LeBron and Wade mocking a sick Dirk Nowitzki during the Finals back a few years ago.

My 2005 Lexus has heated and cooled seats. Why are some of y'all acting like this is a new invention?
I installed my own $130 bluetooth unit hardwired onto the Bose system and everything sounds great.
Any navigation I need comes from Google or Waze. I have literally no reason to buy a new car and this thing is 13 years old.- 1

Hmm. Have never used a good pair of poles, but have never had an issue with twisted ankles either.
Is a good pole markedly different than a nice smooth stick picked up from beside the trail?
Poll: Which NBA team will LeBron sign with in the 2018 offseason?

I'm not so sure that LeBron to Philly would be good for the Sixers in the long term. LeBron will be 34 next year. Simmons, Embiid, Saric, Fultz are all 23 or younger. They need to "trust the process" and keep developing these guys. I think that happens at a slower pace with LeBron there. And just because he hasn't fallen off yet, doesn't mean that he won't sometime soon. And when it does, how will he react? Will he gracefully pass the torch to the younger generation, or will he run them off?
Show me a single good young player who has developed well around LeBron. Kyrie? Maybe. But LeBron is also just as likely to get your coach fired and run off the other players who want a little of the limelight.
