  1. If Durant goes down I probably like Boston top to bottom better than the Warriors. If Curry is the one who goes down maybe the slight edge goes to Golden State.

I would say there is a better than 10% chance one of them gets hurt. At their age there is a non-zero chance that BOTH get hurt.

Most of GS key players will be WORSE this year just due to age and boredom. Most of Boston's players will be BETTER this year, plus they add two all-stars to a team that made the ECF last year. The top teams are closer than most people think.

  2. If you feel like gambling, go to Solaire casino on the bay. Really nice. Just got back last week.

We ate at a restaurant in Makati called Blackbird. Excellent food and cocktails.

Water and ice in 5-star hotels is likely ok, but I still avoid it.

  3. My wife wants to get a bourbon loving client a bottle of Texas whisky. She was thinking of the Balcones True Blue. First is this a good idea. Second, get the cask strength or 100 proof. Third, where can it be found?

  4. The best thing for his career would be to move to NYC along with Kyrie and maybe Kawhi. Team up with Porzingis and bring the Knicks a title. The east cost media would get on his side and he would be a hero in the most powerful city on earth.

Might be very tough finding something at $200k, but if you do, do you feel confident that you can make money at $1500 per month for a house that costs $200k? The math gets tight really quick.

Agree, but next year, that house could easily be worth $210K and the rent go for $1520.  And the year after that rent goes up again along with the house price.  All the while your mortgage stays the same.

Of course it could turn the other way as well, but over the long term I would think both the mortgage and rent would go up with inflation at the least.

  6. I'll throw another vote for Costa Rica. The trip is cheap and easy. Also once you are there you are in the same time zone so you don't feel like crap like in Hawaii.

Regarding beaches, we took the kids to Playa Flamingo. It was an incredible beach IMHO. Better than Hawaii. The waves were perfect for boogie boarding and the temp was just awesome. I went to the beach after a run one morning and I was the only one to be seen for about a mile.

Recently the wife and I stayed at the Andaz Papagayo. It was a great resort, but the beaches were too calm for our liking. There were monkeys everywhere though which made it feel more exotic.

  7. My wife and I are looking to start building our rental empire. She is a real estate broker, so it will make the transactions cheaper.

Anybody have advice for a first timer? We are looking in Cedar Park / Leander. Looks like $200K is about as cheap as you can buy a house and it would rent for $1,400 - $1,600.

What kind of loan do you get? Better to buy as LLC or as individual? How leveraged do you go? Any sweet spots for size of house?
