  1. For the record, I loved Barnes but it was time for him to go. Shaka only has my support because I believe any coach deserves 4-5 years as long as they are recruiting well and are not an embarrassment to the University.

It is possible to acknowledge that Shaka has been a disappointment without thinking he should be fired. It is possible to appreciate Barnes and still think he should have been fired.

Regardless Shaka isn't going anywhere, so why waste time hand wringing?

  2. What if Kawhi gets traded to the Lakers for Kuzma, Ingram, and picks (or Lonzo or Randall). Then when Kawhi is an unrestricted free agent next year he re-signs with the Spurs

Then Pop reveals it was all a grand plot to steal young players from the Lakers and rebuild a contender.

Kawhi would go from being hated to beloved and would be on a long term contender all while crippling a hated rival. This would also work with Philly.

  3. Not sure they have the salary cap to do it, but I would look to bring in Isaiah Thomas and maybe Avery Bradley.  Kyle Anderson would also be a nice, versatile add.  Ilyasova wouldn't be terrible.

Looks like they have ~$15M to spend, so that isn't going to go very far.  Avery Bradley would cost $7M+.  Anderson would be similar.  IT would probably be in the $10M+ range.

As an aside, Bismack Biyombo's contract is horrible.  Paying your 6'9 Center who gets 5 and 5 and has never made a 3 in an NBA game $17M a year seems like a recipe for failure.

  4. I'm still not sure what their starting lineup looks like. Do they play Isaac and A. Gordon both at the wing with Bamba at center? If so that is a lot of length and athleticism.

  5. I don’t know what it’s like everywhere else, but Eagle Rare is anything but in Austin these days. It’s stocked at almost every store I’ve been in the last few weeks.
This has to be a troll.
  6. Not sure that there has ever been a player with as many stats and accolades as Dwight achieve such a well-deserved "cancer" status.

With his career stats, he should be just about a lock for the Hall of Fame. I mean, just look at this:

    • 8X All-Star
    • 5X All-NBA 1st Team, plus 3x other All-NBA
    • 3X DPOY
    • 6X NBA Rebounds Leader and 15th career all-time
    • 4X Top-5 in MVP voting
    • Slam-Dunk Champion
    • Top-50 All-Time in Win Shares

And he is coming off a season where he averaged 16.6 PPG, 12.5 RPG (4th in NBA), 1.6 BLK (10th in NBA), 55% FG, 57% FT (his best in 7 years)...

Yet he is getting traded for Mozgov and a couple of 2nd Rounders.  Amazing.

If he can somehow fit in with the Nets, this was an amazing steal for them.  Even if he doesn't, you get his expiring contract. The Hornets must have HATED him.

  7. Kentucky players are drafted early... Which means they are most often going to lottery teams. Why would it be a surprise that they don't experience TEAM success? You think AD wouldn't have won a couple of titles by now playing for the Spurs, Warriors, Celtics, Lakers?

He routinely passed the ball when he was the only player worth a damn with the Cavs.........right........that's how you score 25 straight points to close out the Pistons en route to a finals trip.

You realize we are talking about his time with the Heat and not his original stint with the Cavs right?

  9. For me, it means that LeBron was involved in fewer plays that year because he was deferring to Wade when it really mattered in the playoffs.  In fact, that was the main narrative in the first half of LeBron's career - he would routinely pass the ball on the most important plays of the game.  Sometimes it worked out and sometimes it didn't.

Outside of his first year in the NBA, Michael Jordan never had a usage lower than 32.9% in the playoffs and never had a usage even close to approaching LeBron's 26.9% in 2012.  It shows that Jordan carried more of a load in his titles than LeBron did.

  10. Maybe the first year they were Wade's teams.  Maybe.  But that is ultimately why they lost... because there was no clear alpha dog.  It wasn't until LeBron took over that they really started dominating.

It is interesting to look at LeBron's vs. Wade's Playoffs Usage in the 4 years in Miami:

    • 2012: LeBron 26.9% - Wade 30.4% - Delta (-3.5)
    • 2013: LeBron 33.4% - Wade 29.9% - Delta 3.5
    • 2014: LeBron 29.2% - Wade 25.3% - Delta 3.9
    • 2015: LeBron 31.6% - Wade 27.4% - Delta 4.2

In the first year, it was clearly Wade's team.  By the 2nd year it was definitely LeBron's team and his usage vs. Wade's grew every single year until he ultimately left Miami.

So Bill Russell is the greatest player of all time, being that he won 9 championships?

He is certainly more relevant to the conversation than Wilt Chamberlain.  Oh, and Bill Russell has 11 championships (and 5 MVPs vs. Wilt's 4).

And let's not act like Wilt didn't also play with some decent players.  He won nothing playing alongside Paul Arizin (Hall of Fame).  And he only won 2 rings playing with freaking Jerry West, Elgin Baylor and Gail Goodrich.

Wilt was a modern day Dwight Howard.

  12. I'm not so sure that LeBron to Philly would be good for the Sixers in the long term.  LeBron will be 34 next year.  Simmons, Embiid, Saric, Fultz are all 23 or younger.  They need to "trust the process" and keep developing these guys. I think that happens at a slower pace with LeBron there.  And just because he hasn't fallen off yet, doesn't mean that he won't sometime soon.  And when it does, how will he react?  Will he gracefully pass the torch to the younger generation, or will he run them off?

Show me a single good young player who has developed well around LeBron.  Kyrie?  Maybe.  But LeBron is also just as likely to get your coach fired and run off the other players who want a little of the limelight.
