  1. Okay. So take a RS-JR and RS-SR QB who was 22- and 23-years old in those seasons and put him on a loaded team under Sark and he'll do better than a 20-year-old RS-SO and 21-year-old RS-JR. Got it. 2007 RS-SO Colt was 276 of 424 (65.1%) for 3,303 yards, 22 TD and 18 INT on a team that had Jamaal Charles, Jermichael Finley, Jordan Shipley, Quan Cosby, and Limas Sweed...but sure. I mean, for comparison, 2023 RS-SO Ewers was 272 of 394 (69%) for 3,479 yards, 22 TD and 6 INT in 12 games (to Colt's 13). I'm not saying it's apples to apples, I'm just saying.
  2. You've named a whole bunch of kids who have a lot of potential and have contributed meaningfully, but don't have huge resumes. In all fairness, I expect some of them will when their time on the 40 is done. Some of Colt McCoy's teammates at Texas: RB: Selvin Young (Broncos starter), Jamaal Charles (all-pro), Fozzy Whitaker (7-year NFL career), Chris Ogbonnaya (7th round 2009) WR: Limas Sweed (2nd round 2008), Jordan Shipley (3rd round 2010), Quan Cosby (2009 all-rookie team), Marquise Goodwin (3rd round 2013) TE: Jermichael Finley (3rd round 2008), Greg Smith (Carolina Panthers) OL: Justin Blalock (2nd round 2007), Kasey Studdard (6th round 2007), Lyle Sendlein (Cardinals starter), Tony Hills (4th round 2008), Adam Ulatoski (2009 All-American), Michael Huey (6-year NFL career), Kyle Hix (2 years with Patriots) DL: Tim Crowder (2nd round 2007), Brian Robison (4th round 2007), Frank Okam (5th round 2008), Henry Melton (4th round 2009), Brian Orakpo (1st round 2009), Roy Miller (3rd round 2009), Lamarr Houston (2nd round 2010), Sam Acho (4th round 2011), Kheeston Randall (7th round 2012), Alex Okafor (4th round 2013) LB: Sergio Kindle (2nd round 2010), Rod Muckelroy (4th round 2010), Keenan Robinson (4th round 2012), Emmanuel Acho (6th round 2012) CB: Michael Griffin (1st round 2007), Aaron Ross (1st round 2007), Tarell Brown (5th round 2007), Aaron Williams (2nd round 2011), Curtis Brown (3rd round 2011), Chykie Brown (5th round 2011) S: Earl Thomas (1st round 2010) P/K: Justin Tucker (NFL GOAT?) I mean, just for reference. It's not like Colt was surrounded by a bunch of bozos. Also, in my 20+ year career as a civil trial lawyer and briefly as a judge and mediator, it's been my experience whenever someone uses words like "inarguably" they actually mean "arguably but don't argue with me." Not saying, just saying.
  3. Do you also say "tuddy" and "aggsy?"
  4. Major tried, sometimes successfully, to bang his teammates' girlfriends. I mean, sure, if there's no ring on it in a general context, then who gives a fuck. If it's one of your teammates...that's different in my opinion.
  5. "Those aren't pillows."
  6. The administrator of the estate (the brother) of one of those "good ags" is a Texas Ex...who's a well-respected trial lawyer in Austin. They didn't keep the money aggy paid. They used every penny to establish a scholarship fund.
  7. "It's a Rickenbacker, you fuckin' moron." -probably Steve Earle
  8. They went through the hell of having to suffer through Kirk and Ryan Day again. But we all went through that hell.
  9. That's been the argument since the BCS era and it's never come to fruition. The TV $$$ are too great, and so is the allure of being able to trumpet a huge win over a big-name opponent for the rest of the season. Aside from that, the Appalachian States and NIUs will handle a big name opponent every few years, and no one talks about an early-season loss at Texas or Bama the same way they talk about a close win or getting bent against some nobody.
  10. Will Howard runs like a fat kid thinks athletic kids run.
  11. I hope Arch proves this motherfucker wrong and Texas just runs the fucking table next season, averaging 103-0 because the kicker's leg was so tired he only went 13/15 on PATs each game while also setting a record for most PATs in a season, with Arch winning the first of two Heismans and two national championships before becoming the #1 pick in the 2028 draft. But this prediction is okay, I guess.
  12. Is this the thread where we brag about our 40 times? Look...I'm not saying I could throw it over the mountains. I'm just saying the mountains were scared. That's all.
  13. Burke wasn't the starter, but he got enough playing time that he could have been.
  14. Why would he? His offer list wasn't exactly eye-popping and he gets to learn from Sarkisian. If Manning is gone in two, Owens has potentially four years in the system and maybe two years of eligibility left when Dia Bell arrives on campus (assuming he doesn't change his mind). If Dia is Him, Trey can hit the portal then while having enjoyed everything Texas has to offer in the interim two years.
  15. Hello. You have converted me to the Owens Should Starts Camp. My time as a Stanning is over.
  16. It's looking like it. Top 5 will probably be: Ward Sanders Milroe/Ewers/Dart A lot of the noise is there aren't any QBs worth a 1st round pick, but that ignores the fact that teams like to draft QBs early. At least 3 of those will go in the first round, and all 5 will be gone by the end of the 2nd round. I'd like to see Ewers heal up, do well at the combine and the on-campus workout, and get drafted in the bottom of the 1st round or top of the 2nd. Ten more pounds would be good for him and at least a year of riding the bench would be, too.
  17. Do we move our pitchforks over to the Arch Being Arch thread or is there a grace period?
  18. I don't really see this kid who grew up a Longhorn, originally committed to Texas, left a perennial contender to transfer to a dumpster fire program with a newly-hired alcoholic head coach who crashed and burned at USC, and stayed an extra year despite all the hate from fans because he loves The University and wanted to win a national championship before he left when he would have been a late 3rd-rounder at worst...as transferring and not declaring for the draft in one of the weakest QB drafts in recent history with Drew Allar and Carson Beck electing to return to college. I don't like the kid's politics or his floaty deep passes this season or his dubious choice(s) in NIL--Jeff fucking Davis? So Harvey Weinstein and Mel Gibson didn't offer?--but transferring would be a stupidity of an order of magnitude greater than the other dumb shit.
  19. Okay, cool. I mean, "Nitters" was so fucking stupid you can hardly fault me for not being 100% on what would otherwise seem to be an obvious connection.
  20. I'm sorry. I've never heard of the guy.
