  1. She's not saying that because she's using her time to play offense, not defense, on this issue. Yes, she's refusing to give opponents a soundbite to take out of context. That doesn't mean the details of the plan aren't fully known. It's precisely because they are known that her opponents are hitting her on raising taxes. They just want her to say the words "Yes middle class taxes will go up" on camera so it can be used against her in deceptive ads.
  2. What does she need to clarify? The health care plan she supports is literally a bill sitting in the Senate. The specifics are as open and detailed as you can get. The critics don't want clarity. They want to force her into their messaging framework against the proposal.
  3. Maybe Hugo works for a big bank.
  4. Sure, and Warren (and Bernie) sees that the same American majority has existed for decades and that we need to attack the reasons why that hasn't been enough in the past. That's the real bigger picture. Pete's running on the Obama message without any of the lessons learned during the Obama presidency.
  5. For one thing, by not trusting that we can work with moderate Republicans, and by not mistaking toughness for "infinite partisan combat." Partisan combat is exactly what we need right now from a Democrat. It took Obama a few years to realize that and by then it was too late. It's astounding, and a sign of his inexperience, that Mayor Pete still doesn't get that and thinks that things will go back to some kind of great "normal" the day after Trump leaves office.
  6. Pete strikes me as a less-experienced Obama. He's a good, exceptionally smart dude who confuses the actual America for the pretend America of our ideals and thinks that he can implement his vision by the sheer force of his reasonableness. He'll get eaten alive by the GOP while doing little to help those who don't have the privilege of pretending that America is something it isn't.
  7. Are Republicans seriously advocating for the subjects of pre-indictment investigations to have the right to insert themselves into the investigatory process, cross-examine potential witnesses, and publicly identify confidential sources? Seriously? That is insane.
  8. What is the contradiction? She hasn't called on Facebook to ban Trump's Facebook account either. Warren's critique concerns paid political campaign advertisements on Facebook, for which the involvement of a Senator and candidate for president is entirely appropriate. Harris's call for a private website to enforce its terms and conditions to censor particular hateful speech is just a lame political stunt that doesn't have any policy substance. That's for the company and its consumers and clients to hash out, and presidential candidates have no more relevance to that process than any other citizen.
  9. I liked it. I'm probably missing something obvious, but why was the title El Camino? He only had the El Camino for like 5 minutes of the movie, right?
  10. For me the best moment in all the debates so far was Bernie telling Biden point blank, you also got the Iraq War done, you also got the disastrous Bankruptcy Bill done. Inject it into my veins.
  11. Biden screaming at Warren about how he got her votes was such a bad look.
  12. Lulz at Warren just shaking off Kamala's ridiculous Twitter point
  13. The head writer seems surprised (though happy) that some people are coming up with theories like that: "My colleagues and I had a debate after the episode: Is it fair to assume that Logan was genuinely surprised by what Kendall did? Earlier in the episode, one of the shareholders suggests that he should step down. Is it possible he sacrificed Kendall knowing that Kendall might retaliate? Okay, wow. It’s fun to hear that people are coming up with their own interpretations like that. It feels unseemly, given the work we all do to create [the show], to then impose some binary decisions. I’ll just say, the show is the best version of the show. I’m happy for people to engage with it." https://www.vulture.com/2019/10/succession-season-2-finale-jesse-armstrong.html It's clear that Logan was impressed at the end, but I don't think that means that he set up the dominoes to fall as they did. He didn't even know that Greg had the proof needed to pull it off. I think he was impressed precisely because he didn't see it coming and it was so strong. By contrast, he wasn't impressed when Kendall came at him at the end of the last season, even though that was arguably a killer move.
  14. I agree with you 100%. There was no genius, complicated plan by Logan to have all of these perfect pieces fall into place. It's as simple as, he's a narcissistic prick who was sacrificing his son to save himself, and Kendall decided to turn the tables. The "not a killer" thing wasn't even something Logan planned to say; Kendall asked him as an aside and pushed him for that answer.
  15. You support a pathological liar.
  16. People should get second chances and an opportunity to learn, but most of the fallout seems to falls on people who didn't repent until it was about to cost them a job or spotlight or whatever, which makes it seem less than genuine. If you live your life publicly and have shared opinions that you now want to disavow, you should go ahead and do it as a result of some heartfelt self-reflection rather than hoping that nobody unearths your comments when it is inconvenient. And yes, that can be the result of calculation, too, but at least you are voluntarily taking your lumps.
  17. Because then they saw his face?
  18. Lol at "classy" as the right spreads video fantasies of Trump murdering members of the media and elected Democrats.
  19. I'm sure the guy who actually wrote the book knows that.
  20. That was fantastic. And once again, Greg is making big plays behind the scenes.
  21. Brought to you by the "pro-life" party:
