  1. Just went to MK and epcot.  Tron is legit but short.  GoG ride is also great.

It's hot and tiring experience but for kids, gotta do it.  I would never pay money to go myself but since you're doing it for family, you can choose to be angry or try to have fun and it's much better to just change mindset.

Standby skipper is key.  It basically gave us VIP experience without the cost as we always had Lightning Lanes waiting for us so we didn't wait in line anywhere really....But did have to traverse park various times and luckily our 13 and 7 year old didn't care (30,000 daily steps).  Tron LL pass was additional $80 for our family of 4, fyi, but bypass virtual queue of an hour.

Food sucks at MK so be prepared to eat weak cafeteria food.  Epcot food (and alcohol) way better.

Can't believe number of fat people in electric scooters at parks.

Can't believe number of families I saw arguing with each other.  Told my wife we are so lucky to not be paying a bunch of money to be miserable.

  2. So I might have had too much and driven my atv into a tree.  Wasn't going that fast, probably 10 mph at time.

Anyways, go to trade it in for a 2023 model and the Polaris dealer wouldnt take it because of a bent frame and wouldn't fix it even though it wasnt too bad.  Just walked to a body shop in Houston and they said they wouldn't fix an atv frame, only cars.

Has anyone ever fixed a bent frame before on their atv?  If so, how/where?

  3. When are people here in Central Texs planning to extract honey for first time?  Imagine with early wildflower bloom this year might mean earlier extraction?  I'm a novice so wtf do I know.

I do know my hives are bumpin'.  So crowded that  I put one honey super on the overloaded hive ( without a queen excluder) and am putting honey supers on my other two hives this weekend.

I know not what I do, forgive me.

Go to FM 529 and N Eldridge Pkwy for great BBQ, a half pallet of sod, shop for a concrete yard sculpture of a gorilla, buy back my catalytic converter and get a tattoo just as all normal Americans do.

Guessing you are Surly 1%er and buy your laundry detergent at Target instead of the back of a pickup truck in bulk size?  Didn't see it on your shopping list.

  5. Finally tried B&R due Surly rec.

Very delicious but I wouldn't make that drive again with Truth and Pinkertons closer to me.  Glad I went though just to scratch that itch.

  6. Our Blackstone at the country house had a mice family living on it....nest, shit, and all.  Welcome surprise that was.

My plan to sterilize it is to turn up heat for a long time and just pour water on it and let it boil/evaporate various times.  Any other suggestions?

I wish them luck. I want Long Point to continue to evolve as an eating destination, but that menu is something else. I think people want something very accessible like Roostar or something very authentic. Not sure if hipster Vietnamese is going to work.

First, completely agree.  My comments to my wife were "this is unnecessarily complex for Vietnamese" but they saved themselves with some good dishes.  Still find it unnecessary.

Also, we had reservations at 500 pm because no other time on a Friday.  Didn't believe it until I saw it.  Place was hopping.

Anyone tried Blind Goat on Long Point in da SB yet?

Masterquoting myself.  Finally tried Blind Goat.  Solid place that deserves a repeat trip for us. Not a 10, not an 8.  Like an 8.8

Quite delish brisket fried rice and crawfish noodles.  Bone marrow was tasty but lacked quantity so wouldn't order it again and egg rolls were good but not great.

  9. I have a sort of litmus test to see if my tastes line up with yours enough to listen to your advice out of a show.  S1 is one of the questions.

You don't love Breaking Bad as much as I do?  I get it.

But you don't like neither S1 or Deadwood?  We can stop convo rt now cuz I ain't listening to you.  Go jerk it to Twin Peaks.

  10. Bruh, 96% of Surly is a Surly 1%er so I don't understand.

Does $2k per person include getting to Ecuador?  If so, could be tough for you to afford a week.

But to actually be helpful and not just question, we took flight from Quito to Galapagos, then stayed in hotel on same island (San Cristobal).  I remember flights being $400 or so each but it was 7 years ago so could be fuzzy.  From that island, just paid to go on boats to other islands for our daily excursions.  Obviously, then there is hotel and food.  So if you fly, you will likely have to stay as cheap as possible to afford the day tours.

I have no clue whether cruises are cheaper than flying since we only had few days for the galapagos part of our trip so when I researched, saw minimum cruise duration was like 7 days so I stopped looking.

  11. Im all in on a national championship this year and don't see a loss through 2027 at least when Arch is picked first in draft......but anyone who hates on analysts for not picking Texas stopped watching football in 2010 or so.  You have the pattern recognition of Greg Davis reading an OU defense "12 four-yard outs on 3rd and 6 didn't work but I'm going in for thirteenths."

    We suck until we don't.

So here's the plan on getting from Dallas to Boston.  We plan to spend at least a day or several in every city except Memphis since it's a shit hole.  Only stopping in Memphis for Gus's from the fried chicken thread.  Thinking of the Outer Banks from Charleston en route to D.C.  If so, any beach city worth mentioning or any other can't miss metropolis via I-95?  About 2,400 miles but it's about the journey.

Seriously considering heading west cross country to Olympic National Park from Boston.  I am planning two months for this dirt bagging trip.

Dallas, Memphis, Nashville, Knoxville, Asheville, Savannah, Charleston, D.C, NYC, Boston

Did you make it to Maine?  We are doing Houston to Maine road trip this summer with a stop in Disney to make sure we go the least logical route.

Is that edge grain or end grain? You got a planer? I’ve been wanting to make a few, but i don’t really want to invest in any more tools at the moment.

    Also, what wood is it?

It's edge grain and I do not have a planer....though I keep thinking I should buy one.

I buy strips at Clark's Hardwood in Houston that are pretty square and even.  This piece is cherry, maple, and walnut.  Ps wood is not cheap.  I'm shocked everytime I go.

I have a hand planer and plane them out the manly (and stupidly harder) way.

  14. Forgot to add the first cutting board I made.  Was given a Longhorn brand so been marking some stuff with it and branding is harder than I thought.  I give out cutting boards when friends let me stay at their mountain homes and stuff so starting to get decent at them.

  15. Some furniture I made for country house.  Cutting into old whiskey barrel was tough for me and wish I had a 2nd at bat.  Still happy with outcome but various places I didn't cut straight.  Also, cleaning that whiskey barrel with all that char inside might have given me cancer.

  16. Shit is bananas.  My tenant doesnt move out until May 31 so I did experiment before hiring property mgmt/realtor to really rent my place in the '46. I put up a cheap yellow arrow sign at my rental house (not major street) on Saturday at 11 am.  By 4 pm, I had 4 people interested to see it and one guy willing to pay premium and not even having to see inside (he is building house in neighborhood and wants to keep tabs on construction while staying very close to their kids elementary school).

Anyways, going to show it to 5 people on Friday so let's hope this works out with great tenant that pays and takes care of shit.

  17. I have a 50/20/20/10/0 ratio for eating my BBQ at Truth/Pinkertons/Feges/Rudys/Goode Co and that order matches what I think the quality and consistency of BBQ is.

Truth is best but most inconvenient.  I've had 2 average meals there I would say.  But that is a very high batting average given how much I go.

I havent had bad meal at Pinkerton's but their best doesn't match Truth.

Feges  and Rudy's pretty convenient so that's why they are still in rotation.  Goode Co = sucks.

Tacos Del Julio. Don't eat there. Very bland pastor, and I somehow spent $30 on lunch.

I would have been better off scraping up the change in my car and hitting Tacos Laguna. A $1 taco shouldn't be better than a $10 taco plate in Houston, but it almost always is.

The one on Long Point?  If so, agreed.  Feges BBQ line was too long one day so I went there instead.  Didn't love it.

There is taco truck near Antoine and Long Point that is way better, near the watermill express.

  19. All done and removed three polyps.  This means I have to have another joyous ride in 3 years.

Was really hoping for that sweet 10 year call-back.

All in all, the drink wasn't that bad.  Tasted like stale Gatorade.  Shitting piss got old but actual procedure was a nothing-burger.  Car to car in less than 2 hours.

  20. I'm on deck and about to start the prep.

They said to put Vaseline for protection from 'anorectal irritation.'  So....do you put this on after each shitting session?  Do you put a bit on toilet paper and spread it that way?

These trying times are when not having any butt issues or need for Vaseline in my anorectal area to-date is costing me.
